Jos was only saved because of the raised cocpit sides. If this happened with the car of previous system he would likely be dead. His head would have moved a large distance on impact, causing rupture of the neck. Luckily safety was improved just in time.

To be fair to Jos he couldn't do much about this one. If the team says to you that there's nothing wrong ( when you just said that throttle was still open through Blanchimont) you just go max speed one again and then crash.
