I am not a Leona Lewis fan... and you don't have to love her voice, but if you know anything about vocal technique you can't deny her talent. Her natural blend is pretty extraordinary. Very clean. Definitely not weak, not yelling, and holding out a note for a long time is not the pinnacle of technique.
Her voice is significantly lighter and brighter and quality and tone than most of the women in this clip. Not exactly a straight comparison. Plus, she has some awesome vocal agility at 2:20.

@emma86100 because to find a video of whitney or mariah belting you have to go back to late 80's (Whitney) and early 90's (Mariah). Since 96 or so, neither Whitney nor Mariah have been able to belt a note. XTina have been belting since she was like 8 years old and now that she's reaching her 30's she's still atop of her game. She still has the voice, something the other two signers have lost so long ago. Media call MC alcoholic, I have seen her totally drunk. Eminem called her alcoholic bitch...

Why don't they just sing the note thats needed. I guess they sing so many cos they're trying to find the right one. Its a lot of nonsense. Listen to Nat king Cole, Billie Holiday, Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, Emmylou Harris, Johnny Cash these are people who are honest when expressing. No showboating just good voices and great expression. The reason this lot warble on so much is cos they got nothing to say and should really sort their lyrical content out cos its all irrelevant to the man on the street.

Christina is really impressive, still there's something I cannot stand on her vocals, maybe it is the tone, maybe it is her oversinging... sure she must have on of the most powerful voices on pop music but somehow an ugly one. Beyonce has a nice voice as well as Jessica. Celine is a top. Mariah and Whitney are a big example of how drugs and alcohol can kill a God given voice. Shame on both of them. They both HAD some of the better voices ever but lost them. Kelly has nothing to do in here

@simdisiwe I don't know but I guess she was into certain. Alcohol is clearly her favorite or at least the one we all see her all of the time into it. Since 98 I cannot remember a moment in where she's not with a glass of wine or champagne on her hand. She drinks a lot and though lambs were accusing me of being a hater cause I said she was an alcoholic the funny thing was that speech she gave recently. And at least back on 01 (Glitter Promo) she was certainly so HIGH if you check the interviews

I have read several lambs defending MC saying "she's not an alcoholic" when she ACTUALLY IS, but ok, you can understand that some silly lambs wants to believe they beloved one is still the nice girl with the big voice. But for you to come and write that alcohol can't damage your vocal chords, THAT was really stupid.
Alcohol DRIES your chords. There've been lot of cases of singers who have lost their voices because of alcohol.

I am not a Leona Lewis fan... and you don't have to love her voice, but if you know anything about vocal technique you can't deny her talent. Her natural blend is pretty extraordinary. Very clean. Definitely not weak, not yelling, and holding out a note for a long time is not the pinnacle of technique.
Her voice is significantly lighter and brighter and quality and tone than most of the women in this clip. Not exactly a straight comparison. Plus, she has some awesome vocal agility at 2:20.

i love mariahs voice outta everyone not only because she has the best range, but her sense of control is amazing. she can belt out just as good as the rest of them if not better, but she doesn't have to over sing too prove a point. she knows how to make it sound perfect, i think that displays the best kind of technique. i think outta the rest of them whitney is one of the best but christina is one of the worst. like her voice is very hard on the ears and she sounds like she is struggling a lot

Kelly Clarkson has a much better upper belting range than her contemporaries....she could outsing Christina, Leona and Beyonce any day of the week...none of them can hit at F5 and above like Clarkson can...and she's still hitting G5s and above to this day. Christina can't manage anything above an E5 without a major struggle.

Im sorry but, Yes, Christina can sing but, you can go on the street and find a 100 girls who can do what she does. Her voice is very VERY irritating when she adds all those unneccesary runs and she sounds like a car with a bad starter. Mariah Carey is the Queen of recorded music. Post afair video.
