Dude! I read this thread about Endless Ages and it looked kinda retro so I was gonna play it but then saw that the download size was large.
But I decided to watch the review, and the instant I heard you say FANTA SCAPE I rewound and listened to you say that five times, to make sure that I heard right.
Then I had a total spasm of excitement. I will play any games that you review for the rest of my life... Aren't you going to warn us about the maps with islands? You have to reload if you find one.
@Reminiscable hehe, looks like I need to get reviewing again!
well I'll keep you updated about endless ages, it's currently 'dead' but is supposedly being revived as planetiia... unfortunately that website seems to be down so it's not looking good... either way thanks for the comment. It's these comments that push me to make more reviews, I just need to balance the very little free time I now have
@KrazyKain It's offline until today due to server maintenance or something. I also watched your 'Creeperworld' Review and was going to argue that the game mechanics and AI mechanics are NOT innovative. I know that the AI is copied straight from 'Outpost 2' but I spent 2-3 hours looking for the game that 'Creeperworld' and 'The Space Game' copied their energy system from, but it was released in 2002 and since then the tower defense genre has gotten so mainstream that I cannot find it - yet.
Tis is probably the best game i ever played (xavier) it was endlassages then phylon then enless ages reborn.why is it gone i think it should be brote bak even no it wasnt that popular bestgame ever
Ello, i have played this game and the very first game i have ever played. It was fun had the highest toon armor guns all the good stuff and so did my family we all played it. Its fun but now its gone it might be back after 1 or 2 years if not dont know when but it was better than all my favorite part of the game was pvp in the arena and air kingdom and boomtown those two were the best air kingdom was a change and kinda pain in the butt.
my characters were The Great Melinko= the song of insane clown posse he was my engieer lvl 18 then i had peroxi lady 18 alchemy two of my lvl 19 and 18 characters were Turahk and Toa Whenua
very nice review on Endless Ages, although you've pretty much just said what every other EA player would say if you asked them to tell you about EA :P especially urging everyone to give it a try... hopefully though, your attempt at bringing in a larger playerbase might do better than the rest of us :)
Hell I can't even get my sister to get off of those korean clones... lol
nah I got lucky :D my line-up started with Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds, Dark Ages(no relation to Dark Age of Camelot) both were heavy RP-based games that were thoroughly enjoyable... although korean, they were made before the "clone wars" started :D and I played them before KRU took over english versions...
Then Asheron's Call, the original non-grinding Anarchy Online, Guild Wars with school buddies, FFXI, and Age of Conan.
Some betas inbetween... but all-in-all, I've chosen well :)
I chose my games not based on hype or popularity(except for Guild Wars and FFXI :D but then again, I was invited and had an entire year paid for me... I found them both very anti-korean clone though, infact FFXI was intensely storyline based and the mandatory teamwork involvement was a plus(back in the beginning anyways :P)) but on the overall quality, or how anti-grind/anti-marketing it was... OR how dedicated the company was in making it :P such as Age of Conan.
but I was a kid during most fo em so I never had to pay for em, they WERE my free games :D now playing NERO(thanks to you, I really enjoy it for the psychological experiments) and Endless Ages... I honestly have only liked the good stuff... I can't help it, I've always been prone to "looking for flaws, comes from beta testing" and in doing so, have kept myself from being a fanboy(ignoring obvious flaws)... heh, WoW fanboys ftl.
I'm just lucky I guess, living with a good brain :)
unlike most... MMORPG gamers these days... I do so miss when MMOGs were "new"... well, except the everquest phase(shudders) I... beta tested it... eww...
heh, but really, the problem is that like with pop music and pop culture, people get sucked in because they don't think... thinking is too hard, and they want to be part of the popular crowd etc... so they go where the crowd goes, to games that require the least amount of intelligence or skill... further creating deeper ruts in their brains.
Cool :) I started with runescape, which might be a bit embarressing but hell, its different... then a few of the korean clones... then Eternal lands, which is similar to runescape only not infested with 12 year olds looking for cybersex, I eventually got guildwars which i still play often, Air rivals was fun, its one of those korean games BUT being an action flight shoot em up does provide enough of a change to make it noteworthy.
heh, it reminds me of when I was in high school playing a game called "bot battle" where you'd literally program AI into bots(pre-nero stuff :D) and pit them against other player-AI programmed bots. was quite addictive... and I do have a thing for games that are very complicated or require a lot of skill, etc.
Problem is, the average gamer is a moron :P so they need moronic games! So the actually GOOD games... remain at low-player bases... :(
