Aww you should have also included when Sam noticed the picture of Al...that with the original song "Some day we'll be together" was an awesome scene as well.
I just posted on "Leap Home Pt 1&2" that this episode makes a suitable "trilogy" when watched in sequence after those two. It's Al's way of saying "Yes Sam, if I could leap, I'd try to change my past too....for the better" I used to have all 3 on one video tape and watch them back to back. The story flow works. Guess we'd all do it if we could.
Here in Youtube check out The Real Time Machine. A Black Professor as a Kid wanted to save his Father who died from smoking. Grew up to invent a REAL time machine! Sadly reality is reality. It will only send back tinier than an atom particles to the point the thing is switched on. He can't save his father. But Time-Space circles. Verne has his NASA. St. John surely does too. Heaven, says Rev 21-22, is a 1500 mile long cube! Some time in next 15 billion yrs We, the Body of Christ can build THAT!
This was an incredibly emotional scene (probably one of the best scenes in TV history). Alot of that has to do with the music. "Georgia on my mind" is very emotional and poingant song and it fits this scene like a glove. Unfortunatley, it loses alot of the emotional impact when viewed on the American release DVD's because of the loss of the song. It's just not the same.
@jenlikeshorses You're right. U.S. DVDs don't have original music, but the British ones do. You can get them on amazon uk, but they won't play on a std American DVD player. Gotta have a region-free player.
@JustaFanVids Also, as one can procure the Region 2 discs, it is possible to play them on a hacked PS3 by changing the Region of your drive. It can be done an unlimited number of times, and they now have an easy program to do it. Also, oddly enough, the region 2 boxed set is far cheaper than the region 1 collection.
@JustaFanVids This is true and I've just confirmed it. Now let me tend to my eyes, something must have gotten in them, after all I'm a 310 lb 6'7" man, that must be what happened....
This is THE BEST MOMENT in television history, hands down, no contest, period. I was blown away by the writing for this episode on the night it orignially aired and I can say that watching it again tonight STILL gives me chills and a lump in my throat. Now excuse me while I shed a tear. Love you Quantum Leap :)
I hate that they changed the music for the DVD release. Al even mentions this song earlier in the episode. The Region 2 DVDs (PAL format) have original music.
I love this episode...was just talking to my wife about it I told her Quantum leap did that scene before "Ghost"..Im so glad to find the video on here...this aired before the movie "Ghost"...and "Unchained melody" is playing before "Georgia"..was wondering if there was any connection?

FYI this is available for free on Hulu but they do not have this music to it which kinds of ruins a great ep.

They don't make 'memorable' television like this anymore!
This brings back many heartfelt memories! Thanks for posting...

this is my all time favorite scene in any tv show ever. but i can't bring myself to buy the dvd because the music they use doesn't do it justice.

@cueball61089 Just an FYI, if you subscribe to Netflix, the one they have for viewing online has the original soundtrack.
