Eisenhower increased it from 1950-1960 — an entire decade.
Since roughly 50% of the entire world's "defense" expenditures happen here in America and approximately 43 cents of every Federal dollar spent is borrowed or printed, I and many others think defense spending is TOO MUCH and a FRAUD! The only other person I've seen take 4 minutes to say what could be said in 4 seconds, and in such compelling fashion is President Obama. If someone can use a drug without addiction well then good for them but why put them in jail? @painterpoker I have since learned that the scientists working with Reagan used a flawed method of testing marijuana and this is why Reagan believed it to be a terrible and dangerous drug. Richard Nixon on the other hand had proof that marijuana was not so dangerous but yet he still told everyone else to create a war on drugs.

More on the study that industry front groups CLAIM was "bogus"...Todd has NEVER corrected his FALSE statement that it was done by an "interest group", it was done by HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL and publicized by the interest group. It was published in a PEER-REVIEWED journal, meaning independent confirmation of the research. It is THE standard for research of this sort, ANY question that came up in the methodology was addressed. Todd's claims that the study was "bogus" are LIES.

The study shows CONCLUSIVELY that people without health insurance are FORTY PERCENT higher risk of death than those with health insurance. It compared deaths in the insured, and non-insured, groups EQUALLY. I'm sure the folks at Harvard Med could learn a LOT from you on how to conduct a study on health care policy, but contrary to whatever right wing blog you're getting your bs from, they got this one right.

All they did was ask ONCE at the beginning of the study.They did not verify whether or not they had insurance, they did not check to see if they later acquired insurance, they did not check to see if those who had insurance at the beginning, STAYED on insurance.They also attributed ALL deaths no matter the reason to their lack of insurance.If you step in front of a car and die, it is NOT because you lacked insurance.
