i remember being a teen in the 70's and being a huge fan of Roger's (saw him at the Bayfront Center in St. Petersburg, FL) and all my friends thinking I was a total geek for listening to him. @DanielHelps I found it to be a very uplifting song. He's talking about not waiting till tomorrow because NOW is the time to do whatever it is your going to do in your life. The old man in the song was happy because he had lived a full life and had no regrets about putting the things off in his life that he always wanted to do.

My thinking at that point of the song was the 81 yr. old man was thinking about dreams he had since he was 20.His eyes looked up...twinkled then became foggy or tearful...then dropped thinking of how he hadn't reached those dreams.
