This is Pavarotti! He brings each aria he sings at its best, at its peak, at its perfect rendition! That's the way he was! Rest in Peace Luciano! I agnostic and the only reason I would've hoped a life beyong the grave is to hear you sing "live" after my own death!
The orchestra is too close and to loud, in my amateur point of view. It is the conductor's choise perhaps. LP had one of the most powerful voices in opera history. In this aria it is a fight between the orchestra and Luciano. Povero Pavarotti this evening. But we are millions of fans who know that you were and are one of the very best tenors ever in opera histoy. We love you and your voice so much. Bravo Pavarotti!
The orchestra screwed up this piece. The director must follow the tenor, they forced Pavarotti into an uncomfortable position by living him constrained to follow the tempo of the orchestra, which was too fast, and quite frankly took everything out of this aria.
Listen and compare two different but wonderful voices. Jussi Bjorling "Donna non vidi mai" M. Lescaut Live 1960 .
His last cocert.

This conductor should be shot. He rushed the piece and didn't follow Luciano. Pavarotti was great, of course!

Not the King at all. Simply the Caesar. Imperator, Pontifex Maximus of operatic singing.
