  • if i were zero i would use hho for gas lol

  • I was watching the GOP debates the other night and every candidate but one was ready to march into Iran.. except one RON PAUL so I googled who won the debate and every poll i came across had RON PAUL as the winning candidate.. but our media won't report it that way. the candidates all talked about running black opps in Iran to overthrow that government what about the opps being ran right here to control are own media

  • @laws1957 - the media here in the US is being used to shape public perception not report on events

  • Here is a fellow in the alternatives field who has to mull over alternative concepts - Oh dear If he has a diesel 5.5 KW unit as I have; our procrastinating guest could have easily powered his adobe with filtered used motor oil mixed with about 15% diesel. Preowned oil can be acquired easily at any service station, waste transfer station or even some auto parts stores from customers that turn theirs in.

For long term gas storage choose PRI-G. None other.

  • @Begbucks - Zero was better prepared for his situation than most out there would have been - he had thought about well in advance and made what he thought were prudent preparations - moral of the story is, no matter how well prepared you might think you are, its not a bad idea to run a live drill to see how well you might do

  • Z your supposed to roll in the snow with a bar of soap and get clean that way ...Who cares about a little cold ...LOL....No it's better to put the water in a pan start at the top and work your way down ....We call it a who*e Bath here....Not great but your clean....

  • I think Zero need to fit a back boiler on his fireplace gravity circulating hot water to a storage tank coil also backed up with a vacuum tube Solar hot water collector

  • sun electronics are offerring solar panels, grade B @ 78c/watt. dmsolar have a 2kw package for 3200 bucks. now is a great time to think solar before the market shuffle steadies and prices go up. take advantage of liquidations and bankruptcy sales, now. check out woodgasifiers . com

  • In my opinion the most important survival equipment is 1000 watts of solar power, such that it can produce 100 watts of power on a cloudy day, a water cystern, and a RO filtration system with years worth of filters in stock. I lived voluntarily without any power, that in itself is no big deal whatsoever. what is a big deal is no water, no ability to purify water, and pump/move water.

  • Gary, when i lived in the yurt shown in the pic in the comment below, i had a similar worry with the gas, so i dug a bunker and stored all such things there, in concrete containment , ventilated of course. it gave me peace of mind knowing it would never be set on fire, and it was only 6 x 4.

  • I sympathise with ZFF but it just goes to show dependancy. I know many people that make do with less than he had during his crisis, daily.... and quite frankly there are over a billion people on Earth that do. Preparedness is indeed needed, BUT TAKE ANY FORM OF PURCHASED OIL OUT OF THE PLAN.

  • I think that the experience ZFF went through is one that all people should not only prepare for. ZFF is correct on the solar necessity, but DIY, honestly, isn't the way to go unless you first build a vacuum table. I lived here, for 9 months in "down to" 25 below (celcius) temperatures. tinyurl . com / cf9jvozNo power, no running water. With all due respect to both of you... wood gasifers are not as complicated as Muller motors. I have plenty of friends that live this way full time

  • Hey SSC, I always look forward to your show. I could tell you were a wee bit frustrated with the background chatter during Sterling Allan's presentation - me too. Sterling always has something interesting to report and I am thankful for that. I guess zero should change his name to sub-zero - shows us how tough things can be without the grid.

  • @jops11 - we will work on the quality - Sterling and I may go to a pre-recorded, almost live, scenario for his presentations ... have not decided yet ...

  • well on those loud live locations ...maby drop a out of order sign and lock the John door for a short live vocal report ,,, some place less buszy - a foam muff mic helps echo in rooms too ..Enjoy those S reports greatly and those Rants are priceless ! Thanks for Posting them very much scarecrow .

  • @wizardangel - sterling and I are going to work something out so his presentations are a bit more professional - but try not to judge the limits of my technology too harshly - these shows are recorded LIVE on the spot without any rehearsal and only modest advanced preparation - most of the time, it actually comes off like we all know what we are doing - sometimes, well, we screw up, hard as we try to do a good job of it ...

  • Thanks Scarecrow we all love the show, keep up the good work man

  • @epsombristol - aside from the obvious technical issues, I think we put on a pretty damn fine show this week ... but I am a bit biased ...

  • BRING BACK THE PONY TAIL!

  • @ChrisPCrunchy - maybe ... will have to see ... all that hair was a real pain in the ass to take care of
