Ive seen Mayer and Trucks live more than once, both remain to be outstanding, long may it continue!

actually "jackass" being hailed a "great" is usually a retrospective commendation....whether the talent and ability is there is irrelevant, u don't hail some one as young as Trucks as one of the greats until he is older or he dies...that being said he is one of todays current great players but thats totallhy different, being named in the same sentence as Benson, Clapton, Hendrix, Page, Carlton, Montgomery, Kath etc takes a lifetime

Derek has already proven his talent with the allman brothers and in the derek trucks band. It's a little sad that certain people will only consider him "great" when he dies or when hes old enough to die.

For me hes one of the best, and hes young enough to make countless more awesome albums :) Rock on!

derek trucks has had a longer career than hendrix to prove himself so this here does not make sense. Page, Clapton, and Hendrix were considered one of the great while they were in the beginning of their years...SRV after his first album.

Yes, Derek did go on tour with Clapton, I believe he is still on tour w/ him too. The videos I saw of the shows were amazing. And yes ... Trucks is best.

I play it in EGDGBE, this tuning makes playing bared A-shaped chords easyer (baring the 4 middle strings makes the job) and enables one to fingerpick around those with one's pinky and ring finger as Derek does in this video.

Yeah, Open E, Derek is always tuned to Open E, Except on acoustics, then Open D. BTW DO NOT! tune an acoustic to open E, because they can't handle that much tension. So go with open d on acoustics, it's the same as open e just a step down.
