  • holy shit that thing is out!!!! That vtec is like three turbo's kicking in!!!

your insane for driving that beast on the street LOL!!!!! HAhA!!!!

  • you can easily make a cold air intake out of pvc pipe instead of spending around $150 for one. ive made a few and they work great and cost only $15 or so to make, not including filter.

  • lol the miles are two digits off from spelling out 123456

  • Yeah the engine is really under powered. I have a 99 White 5-speed CRV now with almost 191000 miles on it and it have the rt4wd. Anyone wondering about the diff squealing, look up "burnishing" the diff on hondasuv forum. You change the fluid, then turn in full lock both ways for a while and I did some WOT donuts both right and left then change the fluid again and it helps tramendusly. Goodluck. And it's a short ram intake, I have the same one on my 5-speed. Manuals are slightly faster.

  • @uafbound Its an automatic why would you try to say its a stick? you can even hear the gears change by themselves and auto's only have 4 gears for that car

  • part of the issue is the weight of the crv, crv is a heavyweight compared to the competition. plus the engine is underpowered.

  • haha my old all stock nissan maxima could do this in 3/4 of the time!!!

  • i have the 99 with B20Z, how are you doing the vtec mod?

  • What CAI did you get? Is it a short ram or did you find one that's a long ram? I'm trying to find one that's long ram.

  • Almost perfect combination on the odometer: 123476 miles

  • wow, auto, go kill yourself

  • its actually not that slow in some cases

  • where did you get the cold air intake for your crv???? ive been looking for one but i cant find one

  • you can use a intake from any b-series motor...easiest way is to just get one from any 90-01 integra with the b18a/b ;)

  • @Irons7922 ...I drive a 98 honda crv 5spd non vtec i got my cold air from Weapon R ..its good stuff

  • they are slow but damn they will go anywhere haha i've had mine in 1.5 feet of snow the front driver side tire in the air put it in first and it pulled right out

  • slow

  • i could use a better intake on my crv i still find the 150hp kinda slow =/

anyone hear a loud screech with their realtime 4wd system when it kicks in usually at high speeds?

  • @Flipster1325 Change your rear end fluid with Honda Double pump fluid.

  • yea i did that myself thinking that was the problem but the fluid that came out was the same color as the fluid i put in which was the Honda Dual pump fluid and the sound is still there but now its comes in at a more higher speed so it got a bit better. i was at an acura dealer and the salesman said there was a design problem with the realtime 4wd system and it costs $2000 to fix. the newer realtime 4wd systems are fine now, but i think its just cuz the system is not built for extreme 4wdriving

  • @Flipster1325 my diff makes a screech when doing medium to hard turns... Changed the fluids twice, and honda told me that they can order a new diff... The cars old! I could care less.

  • @TechWithLukasz yea thats true its getting old now im trying to finance a brand new 2010 crv and ill find out the result tomorrow their good cars still ^^

  • Actually doesnt sound to bad, that stock?!

  • What intake are you using?

  • Does it have the 2.0L engine?

  • This is NOT a manual CR-V. Look next to the fuel gauge, it has P R N D 2 1.

  • good call!

  • Wrong. Automatic

  • Ford Escape murders the CRV.

  • your wrong the 99 model has the b20z wich has 146 hp 20 more hp than the 97

  • I said that towards the bottom...

  • @uafbound you need to get the computer chiped or put a gsr computer so the rev limiter will go up to 8600k and when it shifts it will be at vtec that way you dont have to wait for the vtec to kick in on everygear!!

  • Seems slow

  • This is why we drive manuals.

  • First car... Wasn't my choice, sorry to disapoint you...

  • I will never forgive you.

  • Lol you made my day dude! :)

  • geez how much are you towing?

  • None, it was too heavy of a car to go that fast...

  • What's with the lag in 1st gear, just off idle? Many newer cars with autos seem to do this.

  • Nice video of the CR-V !!! Top Speed is 193 or 200 kmh..:)

  • Yeah about that amount, i got it up to 204ish kmh going down hill with the wind though lol!

  • uumm..is this an automatic? I have a 2007 crv all stock. for 4 cyl, it actaully runs pretty good. And it will lay a pretty good black mark for an automatic 4 cyl! Handling is great...front wheel drive..wish it was rear wheel tho.

  • What is ur 0-60? just curious, i have one too. And can you burn out with VSA on or do you need it off? if so how does it turn on again?

  • .well about 6 seconds. also if you are going to do a burn out, you need to first hit the button for VSA off. then push the parkind break o to the floor as tight as it will get, and put the gas pedal to the floor. it should sit and spin untill u see smoke. ive done it many times. it it pulls the CR-V and just quits spinning, try it uphill, also put a trace of bleesh or water on the 2 front tires...but don't drown them. and when done, undo parking break, and push the VSA button again to turn on.

  • how did u get 6 seconds stock? mine is like 9

  • hmm im not sure...it has been a while since i timed it. but even tho it is an automatic, i start out in first gear instead of just drive and i shift it throug 3rd then the auto takes it to fourth and fifth...but 6 to 6.5 sec

  • oh, cool, i didnt realize i could do that. ill try it out later, thanks man

  • Be careful doing that though because that can cause you torque converter to get burnt out a bit...

  • There is no way that your CR-V pulls a sub 8 second 0-60 time.

    I have one, I know.

  • Its no problem for my 07 EXL. thts the model i have. and when u shift it through then 8 seconds is no problem.

  • Sorry, it isn't possible unless you live outside of the US and you have a manual.

Not a single major (or even minor) automotive publication has even broken into the high 8's for a 0-60 time. They range from the low 9's to the high 9's.

Again, I OWN a CR-V and I know they can't do it unless you have a manual.

  • What on earth are you talking about? so many cars and trucks will accelerate from sero to sixty faster than that. It is very possible. you can shift it through third gear then put it to drive.

  • You are completely missing the point. The Acura RDX is the CR-Vs platform mate.

You are saying that you can go 0-60 just as fast as the RDX which has MUCH more torque and horsepower. The six second figure you quoted is impossible unless you launch it down a steep hill.

I run Group Two at Summit Point, I know a thing or two about how vehicles perform.

  • So you are saying that your AUTOMATIC 166 HP CR-V is as fast or faster than as the Acura RDX which has about 80 more horsepower and about 100 ft-lb more torque? Also not to mention the RDXs torque peaks at about 2500 RPM.

Sorry, you really have no idea what you are talking about. Your CR-V (like mine) will run a 9-ish second 0-60 time.

  • I never said that its faster than that, but I know my new Nissan Maxima with 290 HP would smoke it. Its got an automatic transmission yet you can put it in manual mode and shift it through.

  • No, you never said it was faster than an RDX, but if you are running 6's, that is how fast the RDX is. I was giving you a COMPARISON.

Your Maxima has a CVT transmission and doesn't have any gears. The higher output VQ35 engines are known to burn oil, so good luck with that.

  • Well thanks for that, BUT just because they are known to burn oil does not mean one thing. I know a thing or two about cars too, and I have raced MANY different cars with this Maxima, and not lost many. I guess depending on what kind of car it is. But I always manually shift it.

  • Your V has a k20 motor in it, it puts out about 210hp so yours should be a good bit faster...

  • His CR-V (if in the US) has the K24 which has 166HP, not 210HP.

Check wikipedia if you don't believe me. No stock CR-V anywhere in the world has come with anything over 166HP.

  • This is true, they have not come with over 166 HP, BUT that does not mean a person can't modify it. Air intake, bore over, you know you can do so much to basically anything. Ive changed the air intake and am planning to bore it over. Also have a different muffler and exhaust system now. Totally changes preformance.

  • I love you! Lol, it's really funny that you really know what you're talking about because I've done it too!

  • It was about 7.8 before I totaled it...

  • 126hp

  • B20B has 126 hp, the B20Z has 146 hp stock, with factory parts, tunning, chip, ect... This is the B20Z (1999 crv)...

  • I have a 2001 Honda CRV, the new 07-09 Honda CRV sucks. Many parts are made in china and other countries. I Had a 08 CRV waste more gasoline and hear wind noise , hear squieks inside the cabin. What happend to the well made?? Not cool man. Not cool.

  • Well, CRV's used to have a purpose, now they are for soccer moms and carting little kids around... Why have a 4wd system at all when you don't even have the ground clearance to jump a curve... But, Honda's thinking for their own profit... And the general population wants a road vehicle... After all, there really aren't too many more gravel roads in America anyways...

  • If you lived in Canada you would want AWD regardless of your ground clearance. It gets pretty nasty in the winter and the CRV is one of the best vehicles you can be driving when it starts snowwing.

  • I can imagine, but here in Memphis, TN every one goes mudding and stuff so we need clearance more...

  • Really? Yeah a lot of things are going down hill in quality....sadly....but I love my 07 CR-V not had one problem in 3 years.

  • why crv are slow in acceleration

  • there not

  • Slow? Im guessing you havent seen one. I need to post a video of my acceleration.

  • what kind of intake did you put on?

  • Advanced auto parts universal intake... Actually did well...

  • automatik

  • Yep, I hated the auto trany, but now I have a manual. I is much more responsive.

  • a little underpowered and noisy. unlikely for honda

  • Well, only 120ish hp to the wheels in this video...

  • thats not enough

  • Not really, I agree...

  • is that a 2.4L

  • Nope, B20z non-vtec... It's 2.0 L... Nothing special...

  • i just bought the new 2009 crv today.

  • kills my 99 crv haha

  • its a suv 4 speed automatic, looks great!

  • i want whatever intake you have

  • It is an APC universal intake kit from Advanced Auto Parts, but you will need an AEM filter with a heat shield... That's why it sounds more controlled... You will also have to take the resonator off the top of your stock intake and plug it with an oil cap (this was trial and error to find a fitting one!!!)... Good luck...

  • i have a white 99 cr-v

  • nice. i got one too. how much was that cold air intake? aye you need a vido of that engine.

  • Too bad I totaled it about two weeks ago... I went off the road into a culvert at 40 MPH and bent both trans-axels... The crank shaft was bent so it was shot!!! I am about to get a Civic I guess, and do the B18c swap? IDK...

  • that's pretty fast, but I want to see outside.

  • It's a freaking SUV... Not a Civic...

  • lol....cool......

  • slow.............................

  • its not supposed to be fast

  • yeah this old one is but the new ones have more hp, smoother acceleration, WAY more features, and are also a foot shorter, so they are not as heavy.
