that's beautiful. there are two of these units for sale near me. sadly i only have enough money for the digiverb II one of the sellers is listing. here's hoping no one else in town is in the market for obscure late 80s "shoegaze" rack gear.
After endless tweaking, I not only got their all around classic sound but I got super close to almost all of their songs. The flanger on it can do the exact part of alison with the right feedback. I however substituted this one for an SPX 990 now but it's still around. The fx 500 has a special spot but the spx 990 however is just a new dimension it's like the FX 500 in hi end with 50 times the parameters, after tweaking around with the symphonic reverb patch you will be in shoegaze heaven soon.
@Kekke466 Hey im planning to get a fx 500 soon, i know it was hard work and dont want to just take your settings, but how did you get the alison sound. Im going through a slowdive transition now. thanks a bunch = )
@andramelk115 The best possible result i had with coming close to it was by tweaking from the soft focus patch and adding the flanger with a high feedback amount in it (just needs the right blend). You'll immediately notice that you're coming close to the sound, it's the feedback of the fx 500's flanger that's making that mellowed out sound you want. If you add the midiverb unit or a spx unit for more massive long reverb you're there. I hope you have an fx loop ;)
@andramelk115 I'll make a video of how i got it if you want. But there are so many settings on the fx 500. If you have the unit send me a pm and i'll send you the entire list. I have 2 fx 500 units and I don't really recommend them, but the soft focus patch can heal diseases. For the final verb i'd go with a higher end unit. Just my opinion. Guitargeek is close but trust me Slowdive utilised more rack fx to get their sound.
Hpe u're still at ur pc, i have that yamaha, but i boght it just yesteray, i don't know i felt like it a mistake to buy it.. i couldn't get much out of it. Can u help me telling how u reach that sound.
