The excellent and talented actors playing Leoncio and Malvina also deserve recognition. When I saw the romantic and tender scenes they had together, I wished Leoncio would fall in love with Malvina and finally become a good person and husband (and of course set Isaura free :-))
Leopoldo Pacheco ("Leoncio") may not be conventionally handsome, but he has a lot of charm! I adore him! He is more attractive to me than Brad Pitt or George Clooney , seriously.
When it comes to Leopoldo Pacheco, I think it would be great, if he played a role in another historical production. He wears period clothing with such an ease and grace, that you almost think he were born in the 19 th century.
Perhaps there will be a good sequel to "A Escrava Isaura" (I wish there would be one in the future), where he reappears? . But as another positive character and NOT as the "ghost of Leoncio" or something absurd like that :-D.
It's no wonder that so many women in this novela fell for Leoncio :-D.
You surely have also noticed that Leopoldo Pacheco apart from great acting skills has a rich and suave voice (sigh...), so that you can really hear that he is a professional and classicaly trained theatre actor. I'm talking of course about his original Portuguese voice and not the Spanish dubbing.
In comparison to Senhor Pacheco, the guy playing "Alvaro" had absolutely no charisma. He was such a wishy washy type. His looks were also avarage in my opinion.
Leopoldo Pacheco just stole the show!
Greetings from rainy and cold Poland for You too lyngs1985!
"A Escrava Isaura" is the best Latin telenovela I've seen so far. The costumes and hairstyles in it are very historically accurate (unlike in "North and South", where you can see Patrick Swayze running around with an eighties mullet) and the dialogues good. Another positive thing with it is that it doesn't take itself deadly serious. I love the slight irony!
And I thank You for answer! I' d like to add that "A Escrava Isaura" is not only a fantastic telenovela, but also one of the best period films I' ve watched.
I'm interested in the history of art and costume and therefore liked the visual side it so much, among other things.
American and British producers should take an example of it, when making their period movies!
