  • Hello, I have a question. If I want to make a wig about 10 inches long, do I purchase hair 20 inches long (because the knots are made in the middle of the hair)? I am a bit confused :)

  • Sorry you all - I haven't been on here in years (literally!) But reading some of your responses/comments, I'll make some additional How To videos. But let me know which ones are more pertinent to you then others.

  • @WigginOutBZ Styrofoam or canvas block is really doesn't matter. The canvas block moves less. Also because I make pieces of different sizes, I can't just use one canvas block. I take the head measurements and cut the lace to the measurements. I then attach the lace to the block.

  • @sexygorgeous252 I do this in my spare time. I usually give these to little girls that suffer from hair loss.

  • do u make them and seel them?

  • You invested all of that time and money and built it on a styrofoam block?? Buy a canvas block the same size as your head, it works so much better!

  • where can i get hair to make a wig?

  • @TheNextGreatElphaba for the lace part you'd buy bulk hair.

  • Great job but you didn't show us HOW you did it.

  • very good , next time just split the last track befor you ventilate

  • do u have a step by step break down of this technique

  • @vanshaunree Good idea! I can see why you said to do that when they show a top view you can see that even though she ventilated allot you can still see the bold black line of the track through it. When I do mine I will be splitting tracks at the top, Thanks

  • @vanshaunree Sorry I meant to post that under another person

  • Wigmaking materials can be ordered from demeo bros. in NYC, Hugo Royer in London or Atelier Bassi in Switzerland. Thhis includes lace, needles etc.Wigmaking is an art that should be learned in a proper educational setting,I dont feel videos, esp short you tube videos are able to give enough time or information and guidance to perfect the craft, which can take years...If you just want a wig, find someone credible and buy one...

  • wow this is very creative

  • @SpaDazzle236 Michales and JoAnns do not carry Nylon Monofilament mesh. You have to buy it online from a specific manufacturer. I'll have to look on my other computer to find the website.

  • Are you going to sell that wig?

  • do you sell them? if so what does it run?

  • hell now bitch lol

  • is it cheaper to make ur own??

  • This is a great idea especial since lac cost so much.

  • Is this like latch hook?

  • Can someone please tell me a great source to get the lace to make the lace front, would a appreciate loads. thanx.

go to walmart and get some tulle and practice before you invest in lace. its like $1/yard.

  • Can u make me one. That's pretty

  • Well to those that say Tulle won't work, it does. I used it to make a lace front and working on a wig now. The hair line is so undetectable its scary (in a good way). You have to be careful with Tulle because it can tear easily. I used it experimenting before I would buy the real swiss or french lace but it came out so good everyone like it better than the wig i paid $400 for. So if you are practicing use Tulle. Be careful. I wear my tulle lace. I need to post pictures.

  • @Phever3040

what kind of needle did u use?

  • @BarbieeXlove I used a very small latch hook looking needle. I bought it from Sally's Beauty Supply. It is a very thin needle. I like the latch hook that closes because when pulling the hair back through I don't get it snagged on the lace. I have pictures if anyone wants to see. Just inbox me an email address. I own several lace wigs but the one I made with the tulle CHEAP lace blends way better and look so much more natural. You just need to spray it really good with knot sealer when done

  • @Phever3040 i wanna see! you have a website with pics?

  • The lace is specially made for wigmaking and must be ordered from a wigmaking co. in NEw York, La or europe. Tulle from the fabric store is not the same thing!! Also you would never ever build a wig on a styrofoam head! It would be a wooden or canvas block. I am a pro wigmaker for theatre and film. It takes 30-40 hrs to make a fully hand made wig, though you can add a front hairline to a machine made wig in about 10. Clearly this is a commercial but i would be leary of thier "teaching"

  • i love this video it was very helpful!! can u make a video on how to knot the hair

  • oh now i know exactly how to make them?

  • where can i purchase the lace from?

  • Walmart has the lace in the craft department. You can typically find it sold in bolts like fabric. You can buy it by the yard and use rit fabric dye to change the color if necessary. You can also find it in any other store that specializes in sewing and crafts. Hope this helps.

  • No the lace is specially made silk or nylon lace which must be ordered from a wigmaking supply house in NY, LA or Europe. Tulle is not the same thing!! The stretch and strength will not give the proper results. You can use rit dye to darken the lace for afro american skin tones however. DeMeo Bros. In new york sells excellent materials.

  • Thank you :-).

  • @afboyfw You're absolutely right. Tule is entirely too delicate to use for a lace wig. The fibers in tule will tear easily. Nylon monofilament mesh is the best way to go.

  • @TangibleDreamsEnt where can i find Nylon monofilament mesh? Do you have to order online or can you find in joanns or micheals?

  • hi, i was wondering if you could show how to construct the cap and how to sew on the wefts in a video... i get the jist of it i just dont think i can do it correctly from only the pictures plz help... thanx

  • i want to learn to make a lace front wig, do you have a dvd for sell that will show step by step on making them?

  • so smart, and simple yet i feel so dumb. I've been watching all these other videos that make it seem like it takes a life time to create these wigs when it actually can be simplified, thank you so much!

  • wow so pretty knots r so precise thanks for sharing :)
