con't from below: to finish my thought, every year since the stabbing she was out for at least four months due to both he foot and should injury ( that one was with her all year 96 and hurt her in key match ups) except i believe in 2000 and did play most events in 2002 but missed some summer events after playing a full schedule up to the french...Even though all this and her father long illness and eventual death she was still a true competitor ..Great fighting way to leave the Big W..Love her!!

When they played at the WTA Championships Henin won 6-0, 6-0 and had 30 winners to 2, so even playing her best ever on Henins worst surface there was no excuse for her to lose to this player. Henin was aided in her win over Serena at Wimbledon that year by a bad leg injury which had her hitting a hack slice backhand.

It's very frustrating to see these monica losses, but they are such close matches but she's carrying at least 30 pounds extra, she's so unfit and late on EVERY shot. Watching her, you could see that if she was 100% fit, she would be the Greatest and almost unbeatable. Everything started with that stabbing and she never got fit since then :( Today she looks so healthy. Anyways saddest thing to see, how a criminal can change sports history :(

@frodoireland Had wimbledon been played on the current slow grass back in the early 90s, no doubt Seles would have completed a career slam. As for Henin, I was extactic as my countrywoman Mauresmo beat her, especially after the quitting in the AO final 6 months earlier (which was a shame, Mauresmo was playing so well that the match would have been over 10 minutes later max).

Dont appreciate her at all. She retired when she was Number 1 in the world and was the first player to do so in era. Also five years ago in 2006 she retired in the Australian Open final against Amelie Mauresmo and ruined the moment for her. It was so unprofessional of her. I was so glas Amelie beat her face to face in Wimbledon that year. Shame Myskina didnt beat her in the Olympinc semi final. Then there would have been a different champion that year.

@danieln1 one call in the second set where it was called out but corrected changed things justine's next shot would have flown out regardless of the call as she was stretching, she was a break up but monica made 3 stupid errors after that and was broken back. she would have probably won the set 6-2 or 6-3 but that's the way it goes.

It is unrealistic for Monica to expect to ever beat her once she reached 70% of her prime level (the 4 losses before this match were 50% of her prime level). If it werent for Serena and Venus's undetected steroid use (or covered up to fear of their bogus racism claims if you were caught, you decide), Henin's early retirement, and Henin's illnesses and injuries, Henin would have won 30 slams.

Venus and Serena were muscular and athletic from the year they came on tour (if you look at serena 98 during the FO, she was even more muscular than in later stages of her career). You can't say that about Henin...
