The advantages of VCR: Fuel economy, better power transfer and so on in my opinion are worth investing in... I'm surprised there aren't more companies pushing this design forward
@sasman52 Disadvantages include greater wear due to friction, more potential failure points, and higher manufacturing costs, not to mention the necessary research and development costs. Variable Valve Timing, turbocharging, direct fuel injection, and so on, have been around for 30 years, but most manufacturers are just catching on now.
@InsoniaSXPower - Nobody said Variable Compression Ratio was Prodrive's idea.. They happen to have a "different design" which removes the system's faults.
Isn't this basically an atkinson engine ?
