delsol27 the scale notes of DO in the key of G starts with SO (standard key) but in concert, key of G DO starts with RE. The Bb scale notes DO starts with TIb. In concert, key Bb DO starts with MIb. Mayor Yabut did not finance the instruments of the 27th Lancers & it was Engineer Jose Viray who uses his own money to purchase the instruments and later became the official band of the Metro Manila Commission and not City Hall Band. Assistance of 13 hudas fro Trozo is not the determining factor why 27th Lancers were established. Trozo provided help to face Islanders in a one on one concert since Pareng Lut was a former member of Trozo & Islanders got FEU.

There will be no 27th Lancers (former Pio Del Pilar)if not for the assistance from the 13 Judas who are members from Ship 3 Trozo .A lot of dbc old timers knows that when Pio del Pilar (who later became 27th Lancer) faced Islander DBC in a musical battle in the 70s for the right to be the official band of Makati City Hall under Mayor Yabut.Ship3 Trozo and 27th Lancers have the ties that bind.Lut Garrido is a Ship3 Trozo Alumni.

Well, to me thats great. More bands the merrier. Playing with phil DBCs become more competitive. So new lancer members have to become more dedicated on learning new skills, start reading notes, read new drill rules, perhaps the PMMA NDR (not PMA) the best drill ive seean in AFP cedetship.

Then libre na yung guwardiya sibil uniforms. Last uniform I waore was the bagpippers uniforms. Dramatic ang dating sa noon sa alitagtag kasi nung una e lahat ay naka puting shorts at tshirt lang.

Then here comes the parade of around 15 DBCs. Pasok ulit lahat sa kuwarto at sinuot na ang mga palda at capa. Ang hapa ng martsa sa alitagtag.

Reading from your posts, perhaps, I do could remember you. But most of my memories with the band was during the PPEI days. We were still then with Mr, Racaza as the seniors are are forming troop 207 with the help of the school's BSP masters. We practice often in guadalupe with the arevalos and viejo 1 ES.

I will tell you that you are too sentimental about the whole situation and you are not going anywhere with that kind of attitude. The new 27th Lancers is a hall famer corps and we want to continue and protect our legacy and pass it on to the next generation. We don't care if our new members are from other cities as long as they follow our corps rules & regulations.

Here in the states, individual corps members comes from all over the states and foreign countries. Selection criteria is way different and very much competitive. You must be a solid player, good marcher, physical condition is a must, read music notes and blend with the other members. Good moral behaviour & most important of them all you money to pay your tuition fee for the entire season. You can't march drum corps in the states if you don't have all of the above.

Remember this group of kids from other drum corps can play but lack fundamental training to become better players. Many of these kids already quit because they can't handle our system of playing quality music. Our method of teaching is way different from the rest of the drum corps. Now it is going to be more difficult because we are now putting more training exercises and technique that all of our playing members must learn or quit.

Our priority is to recruit from within but we have zero talent at this time. We do have old guys from MMDA and they are from Makati but now we are talking about attitude and character. We are trying to apply age limit & we want members with full potential and in good condition. We get rid of members that will give us headache down the line.

Once you pass the audition, they will give you allowance at first and then evaluate your talent. You have to show them you can blend with current members and follow the corps rules and regulation then they will put you on payroll after your probationary period.

Pacific Crest is conducting a clinic this weekend and next weekend. I am planning to come by and watch their concert and buy their 2006 DVD and send it to the 27th Lancers. I'm shipping the 2007 inside the blue devils DVD that I bought at the BD party and top 12 DVD Finals from DCI this weekend. That is Christmas gift to our 2nd generation corps.

I was planning to join the SF Renegades back in 2002, coz I used to live in Pacifica, but we moved to LA 2003. My wife and I watched the quarter finals, Semi-Finals and Finals. Prior to Finals week, we drove to Stanford Western Regional Championship to meet my son after a 3 month DCI tour from the midwest and eastcoast Championship. It was exciting and nerve wrecking especially when they announced the winners. We attented the B-Devils Awards Banquet Party in Concord California on thanksgiving weekend and my son received his championship ring.

I have a lot of high school friends in San Juan. We marched with SSS Racaza, combined forces of San Juan , Makati and Marikina. 27th Lancers do have alumnae members from San Juan. It was during the time we won 3 consecutive Championships then won our first National Boy Scout Competition.

I started playing snare drum on 3rd grade, at 6th grade I joined Abril DBC in San Juan (becomes JE) until my high school years. I loved 27th Lancers the first time I heard them. It becomes my inspiration since then. My brother Che joined them. OK naman daw si Lut.

I was at the Pasadena Rose Bowl on DCI championship, I know Blue Devils will get it again...so it did. Blue Devils got the edge.

Never a DBC in the Philippines come close to the sound of Drum Corps but 27th Lancers...I hope in the near future these guys can come to the US and be a part of the DCA or a guest maybe to DCI and can introduce Philippine music to the world. Maybe we can create a fund raising to all Filipinos in the US to bring these guys over.

Yes we do get financial backing from the City but limited. Philippine Drum Corps set up is completely different from US drum corps and elsewhere. Activities are whole year round and no aged out. Young and old alike can march like the DCA format. At present we have 25 members ranging from 9-18 years old and the entire corps has 75 marching members and growing. Thanks jontuber7.

Filipinos are highly educated group of people and 80% who migrated to this country are professionals. Perhaps your lack of education shows your real character and stupidity.
