No you can use any strike package. Aslong as you get 25 kills with your gun and not die. Killstreaks don't count towards it. It's just easier to use the Specialist because it gives you more perks which means better advantages.

i had to give this gun 2 chances. i tried it because i was told it was amazing and it didn't feel good in my hands. few days later i picked up an mp7 off the ground and i destroyed people. so 2nd chance and lv 30 in no time. had that cod4 aiming back for time playing it. great feeling!

I didnt use this gun before I prestiged, then when I unlocked it (lvl 74) in my 1st prestige, I got it to half way through lvl 30 in 6 levels, first time using it, easily my favorite gun, then when I prestiged, I brought it through with a prestige token, and got through the first 30 levels with it in 1 and half hours, this gun is a freaking BEAST!

I love seeing the MP7 get some attention! I used to use the P90 as my dominate rushing class, in all three Modern Warfares. But ever since I unlocked the MP7, I very rarely use anything else. Paired with a silencer and rapid fire, it's a devastating close combat weapon, and a not too bad at long range either. It's my go to class when I want a 3.0 or better game. Or need to take out kids on a flag. My personal favorite, not only submachine gun, but weapon period.
