  • what year was this?

  • Great Style!!

  • Wolf was one BMF.

  • I saw him in 1968 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I was never the same. This is beyond "culture". Culture? No, a religion. I got a religion in that big joint. I think this might be joint he played at in those days, on Harrison and Kedzie, Chicago. I lived south of there. When he played he brought something else. You understood something about life. It was a school. A Saturday night Bible school with a pint of Wild Irish Rose and some downers and good smoke. It was what it was.

  • @distressed7 ur so lucky....

  • @distressed7 I saw Wolf in New Orleans in 1968, and yes, it was revelatory to me. He was like a force of nature.

  • oh man, why have i been born so late?

  • @bustedup amen to that

  • thumbs up if hot wee-wee jefferson ordered you here!

  • When the music starts and he starts looking around and into the camera it feels like he's into my and everyone else soul getting ready to steel it. It's so spooky but yet so awesome how you can feel the energy from his song.

  • @ultradarksonic1 seems to me he's like a boxer psychin up for his fight during the intro, so gooood :)

  • it's blues time

    love that sentence

  • anyone know wht kind of mic that is??

  • @zar1117 Electrovoice 660 or 664?

  • @edvargas Its a RE-10

  • @zar1117 Its a RE-10. Its a little longer than a 660 and VERY different shape than the 664. I have them all. So its a RE-10. And also its very good to get that bassy horn-like sound. But Wolf had that with every mic I heard him play on via youtube and CD. I have them and dont really need 'em anymore, they're up for sale :) Peace!

  • What kind of mic is that?

  • @zar1117 It's not the mic. It's him.

  • Prophet!!!!

  • the conditions make it like it is today, conditions ,conditions, when you dont have no money,no job no place to stay, noplace to sleep, you go to thinkin evil, thinkin' wrong think, just like the people who stuck up the bank, shot the police the other day, they did'nt have no money...

  • "WADDITELLYABOY! (0:20)

  • Thanks Youtube, because of youtube I got turned back on to Howling Wolf. I totally forgot about him, thanks for the reintroduction, 40 years later. HW and Muddy Waters...oh yeah, can't beat it.

  • hell yeah!!!!

there ain't nothing like doing cocaine and listening to some of the best blues around.

  • howlin' wolf rules!!!

  • Is this version to be found anywhere else? I mean, on a bootleg or in any movie about Howlin' Wolf? I absolutely love this, it is way better than Evil from Moanin' in the Midnight, let alone the electric version.

  • Of course, preferably without the interview part which, cool as it may be, ruins the song.

  • What I wouldn't give to be able to see the likes of Howling Wolf and Tommy Johnson play once more!

  • its evil baby

  • fucking legend.

  • "Conditions"

  • GREAT!!!!!!

  • Evil~ that which is bad or harmful to one's life

  • Why the hell is there a link to a Hank Williams video in the suggestions column? Howlin' Wolf woulda used Hank Williams for fuckin dental floss.

  • @SolomonaGrundy thats absolutely retarded. try groovin to some hank williams and stop hatin'

  • @CanadianFolkBlues sorry bro bt this man is in a class of his own

  • This was one of the most important musicians of all time. Most people today simply don't understand or appreciate that these are the origins of most contemporary western music. And the wisdom of a street sage who has lived the hard life which he sings about. This is truth in art. Listen up young people.

  • @rumpledilskin my favourite bluesman, whoever the 3 eggs who did'nt appreciate this are they've obviously got no musical bones in there bodies

  • @rumpledilskin ...You saying that because of Howlin Wolf we now have Justin Bieber???

  • @TheBicyclingman of course it is

  • This man was a true blues master. Nobody like him after he died. No wonder Eric Clapton paid for the man's tombstone. The man inspired the generation of musicians after him.

  • One of the greatest bluesmen ever.

  • And a little social commentary to boot. Masterful.

  • @vblhe lol it was great

  • Wolf is definetly my favorite of all the ol' bluesmen!

Talk about pouring your soul into it.

    He was the real deal.

  • makes sense thats for sure, long live the wolfman

  • One of the best bluesmen ever.

  • BAD ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • WAIT......is that James Jamerson on bass ??

  • 'Somthing's goin' on!!..

  • evil's a brewin'

  • Wolf was the OG,THEE man. And if you played with him and didn't do it right,he'd beat your ass. On the for real side. In the old days in Chicago,if you wanted a gig at a club, you and your band would wait for the end of the night and fight it out.Whoever won got the gig. Little Walter was a great harp player and a better fighter. He got alot of gigs that way and unfortunatley ended up getting stabbed to death. Don't know if it was over a gig,but he died fighting

  • lol! The Wolf was a funny mofo!

  • The #$&/"%r original bad ass...

  • @kristiandalgarno what do you mean inside the heart of dixie inside the heart of jim crow or inside the facist US goverment

  • @kristiandalgarno sei italiano?

  • uuu ese we rifa!

  • Thanks for posting this. I listen to all kinds of stuff and I certainly bought a lot of Blues records over the years, but I think Howlin' Wolf was something else; you can tell he was a Charley Patton student, he was so raw and unpolished, I always liked him better than Muddy Waters, although the latter has always been more famous. I love to watch this, after listening to his records for decades without ever seeing any Howlin' Wolf footage. You've done a great job, thank you so much

  • @kidcalabria

yeah he is DEFINITELY one of those country blues fans cuz Smokestack Lightnin' is basicaly "Stop and Listen Blues" by The Mississippi Sheiks and then songs such as spoonful and little red rooster just hint at charley patton's spectacular style.

  • @psychedelichobo didnt charley patton sing that song "nobody's bizness but my own"?

  • @psychedelichobo too bad spoonful and red rooster were written by willie dixon who never met charlie patton.

  • Ο Λύκος Που Ουρλιάζει

    howling wolf

  • one bad fella

  • evil evil is goin on! check your backdoor folks

  • While you workin somebody sleepin in ya house...

  • look at this guy man, he even looked wolfish, man this is amazing

  • I hope anyone watching this understands evil is from the germanic word ufel , from the hebrew word meaning spoiled , as in spoiled rotten.

Also that burglar breakin in to your home is a spoiled rotten person who needs mental and spiritual help.

This video demonstrates howlin wolf was a man tryin to warn people through his music about the things happening in the world.

  • OHHHH THIS TRAIN I RIDE ON

  • Первый RAP!!!

    Howlin Wolf - !!!

  • give it

  • This is so damn good. I love it. Howlin is the best.

  • The original bad ass.

  • thank u so much for posting the clip...!!! When you ain't got nuthin'... you got the blues... you always got the blues... Howlin' is kickin'... !!!

  • @mydigitalcd i totally agree

  • @mydigitalcd Howlin kicks ass!!!!!!

  • Igen ez megvan mindenhol a

    világban.

    Időtálló!

  • thx for post. rare footage of the wolf in color!! groovy

  • I second that, odd that so little color footage exists really. Great band with him as well.

  • acording to the movie Cadillac Records Buddy Guy was sexin white girls left right and centre

  • true

  • To call Buddy Guy gay just shows how stupid you are. Buddy hung out with Wolf and Muddy waters. He is one of the few left that can really be called a true Chicago Blues man. I happen to know Wolfs godson and he speaks very highly of Buddy.
