  • Thank goodness the 1st posotive review for this car on YouTube.

These guys see the car for what it is a city car that is ever so easy to park.

  • I like to ride up these car's ass with my big dick lifted diesel duramax

  • @VeloxStang I have one of these cars and a dodge 2500 5.9 that will pull your truck around town. But nice to know what people that drive a Government Motors vehicle driving abilities are. I would however trade you my crap transmission in my dodge for your allison but that duramax is only worth the metal its made with. Anyone in construction that pulls heavy machinery around here - if it is not a low-boy, uses a dodge.

  • What happened to the dude's face? did he get beat up for driving one of these?

  • I have a 50 km one way commute and it fits the bill. It does 120kph all day with ease.

  • My Utility vehicle is bigger than the smart car.

  • whats the song called playing from 5:00 - 6:00 ... I REALLY NEED IT FOR A PROJECT REPLY TO POST OR EMAIL MARWAN_HADWAN@YAHOO.COM

    THANKS!

  • laugh all you want ,,,,this is the future, and prbly fully electric at some point

  • i would drive this only if it was hayabusa modded.

  • lol these are so gay.

  • They make these cars.. cool but price? LOL

  • TURN OFF THE SIGNAL LIGHT!!!!!

  • haha wtf crash

  • Okay I got a oneton Ford and love it but hell I want a smart car for everyday driving it seems like it would be so... Easy .

Am I the only guy that has admitted that?

  • @14omega28ok I did it. I have a dodge 2500 was my daily driver. I got a loaded smart car also and my wife has a mercedes s500. I own a large construction company here in Texas and I use it to go check my jobs around town. At first people think its different - then they think its smart (I save 800 dollars a month compared to diesel.) I still use my truck when I need, but now it stays clean and detailed and use it when necessary. My note is 300 a month nothing down. It was a no brainer for me

  • Just got back from Berlin, almost 400 miles east from where I live. No problems at the German motorways at all. My Smart handles quite nice at 85 mph. The seats are comfortable enough for a number of hours driving.

Since I was traveling alone, there was room enough for all my luggage, including a tent, a sizable sleeping bag, an air mattress and a foldable bike, inside the car.

  • Man, this car is so cool! I wish I had the money to buy one!

That's a car for real men!

  • I-35? Where are you located?

  • These men have no testicles.

  • u know your driving a smart car when you put two adults in the car and double its weight....

  • I love this car.. but one question.

Do you have to shift, or will the car shift for you?

  • @Krazzy989 Either auto-shift (which can be a bit jerky at times), or clutchless shifting with paddles on the wheel OR stick shift.

  • @Krazzy989

Here in the Uk all Smarties have the softtouch gearbox which means you can have the option of putting it into fully automatic mode by the touch of a button on the side of the gear stick or you can use the box like a normal manual but as with all Smarts there is no clutch to worry about as the gearbox is all controlled with a very sophisticated electrical motor.

  • @Krazzy989 it will do both, mine dose

  • @Krazzy989 u can shift the car 3 different ways, you can manually shift it with paddles at the steering wheel or u can use the shift lever to shift, or if your want, then u can just put it in drive and the car will shift by itself like other cars, the shifting is unique though and it will take getting use to...

  • @Krazzy989 There's no need to shift. You just give the hamster more food.

  • @Krazzy989

It shifts automatically. But you can do it youself using the paddle shifter if you want to.

  • @Krazzy989

It's got the same sort of gearbox that's used in a BMW M3 a sequential electronic one.

The Smart's gearbox is not as hightec as the BMW but their technology is almost identical.

  • I dont get it. I had an 86 Toyota wagon that got 40 mpg and it was much larger than this. The diesel Rabbit got 50mpg. These were mede 20 + yrs ago. Why do we have to go to a goofy looking micro car to get just a few mpg more?

  • its ugly

  • More Americans are choosing smaller cars as an alternative because of the economy, gas, and the parking. I would prefer a Mini Cooper or Toyota Yaris hatchback before this car.

  • is this a good choice for someone first car???

  • @T0MMY561 Sure! I don't see why not... the only bad thing is that they are not very cheap in the USA.

  • @thescooterscoop

Its the same here in the United Kingdom.

You buy a Smartie because you want to be different and you put up with the slightly inflated purchase price.

Being owned by Mercedes the build quality is certainly reflected in its price.

Its great fun to drive and own.

  • @T0MMY561 Excelent! It's my first car, I have a passion cabro. It's cheap and easy to maintain (takes about 30 minutes to clean it from top to bottom) Great on gas, reliable, has enough room to fit whatever you need on a normal day, it's not a super performance car or anything but you don't really need that. I highly recommend one

  • @T0MMY561

    You bet.

The driving experience is so addictive and the build quality being totally owned by Mercedes is too a very high standard

I own a Passion CDi diesel the engine that all of you across the pond wish Mercedes would introduce.

Take a test drive and forget about the talk that the car is not safe because it is extremely strong and here in Europe it has won the coveted 4 star rating for crashing testing up there with the BMW Mini.

A great first car and so easy to park

  • @T0MMY561 I have a Smart as my first car, I live in Boston, it's great, surprisingly comfortable car for it's size although I wouldn't do a long trip in it. The MPG is definitely a plus, when all my friends fill up their big ass SUV's I get to remind them that it costs me about $20 to fill up my car. I believe Smart quotes them with getting about 30 MPG, I get around 50. It is also plenty safe, I got hit by a Mini Van at about 40 MPH and I drove home from it. You can get a used one on the cheap

  • There are few cars that are as enjoyable to drive as a Smart.

You look forward to taking Smartie for a drive.

I own a Black and Silver CDI Passion and the low down torque for the new 54hp is very impressive

    I love mine to bits.

  • Had my Smart for nearly two years and i still love driving it everywhere in the Northern Virginia area which is where i live. BTW to those who say the SUV is safer, did you not pay attention to that photo seen with the roof crushed in? These cars are tougher than you all think, and many have survived in a huge accident in one of these cars, and yes it is a joy to drive.

  • Say it with me.. Gee, Aye, Why ??? LOL !!!

  • I want one so bad! Already made the trip to St Louis to see one in person, soon as spring is here going back to trade in the Hyundai! Hope I can get used to going from 145 HP Tiburon to SMART car is all. used to fast acceleration.

  • what size mower deck dose it come with?

  • Check out the crash tests done by the British TV show "Fith Gear", they rammed a smartcar head on into a solid concrete wall at 70mph and it survived very well, these things are tougher than you would believe, I doubt the Ford woulds stand up as well as the smartcar did to a 70mph head on into concrete

  • That panoramic plexiglass roof you see above their heads is simply amazing.

If you close the sliding blind that prevents the harsh sunshine from obscuring your view then the interior miraculously shrinks.

Open the blind letting in the light again and the interior grows again.

In the Uk this plexiglass roof is optional on the Pulse model but standard on the Passion and Brabus.

As £210 it a must have accessory as it is what makes the little Smart such a joy to drive.

  • well guys i am from greece and i am satisfied with the car...despite i hadn't driven it yet..but there a question arise, what makes the car so costly?i greece the price for the basic one is a 10500 euro..with the same money you can buy a better one...like toyota iq

  • Because it's made by Mercedes. I would not spend more than €10.500 on it though. If I want to spend more than that I would buy a VW.

  • yes friend i know....but i think that despite its manufactured bu mercendes benz tha reliability isnt like a mercendes benz car.....it has a non mercendes machine and it also burns much fuel:( although well done..good car

  • that was a really nice review. thanks :) I like your guys style. I am getting one of these for my new job with the geek squad in the UK.

  • lol @6:30 car flipped, yeah, perfect timing to talk about the smart's safety, hahaha, but anyways great vid, u see every aspect of the car

  • its a bit loud

  • you seem to have a gay fixation, the driver is a smart rep and the other guy is just a guy making a video.

i know a few gays that have smarts (through smart clubs) kinda perfect, seeing they don't have kids...

    as for me, i'm married.

the smart is the perfect car, gets you where you want to go safely and cheaply.

    stop being a dork/dickwad!

  • who the fuck r u? uh w8 i know: sum lame ass gay fag with no friendz a loyal utube commenter and a keyboard hero.

  • Hi im thinking of buying one. Im not worried about the power but how did it handle from what you could tell?

  • it's fine, i got the first in my state, i've had it 21 months as a daily driver, only problem was in cold weather with the safety lock on the brake switch, it failed at -4F, warmer it's fine. was replaced, talked personally to d. schembri @ smart to fix it. (pres of smart usa)

the ride is a little harsh on rougher roads with stock tires, otherwise it's GREAT!

  • very informational. good video.

  • 3 cylinder engines have a great exhaust note :D

  • I love my ForTwo. The 3 cylinder engine loves to be driven hard, it sounds like a small sports car when you kickdown the gears. Has a love rumble to the exhaust.

  • turn the fucking turn signal off in the first two minutes of the video. It is making me go nuts.

  • It makes a quite good noise! I LOVE IT! :)

  • i want a smart car now...lol

  • BIG cars are for losers with small cocks, smart drive real man without complexes so stfu

  • Hey come on now. BIG cars are for people who are over 6 feet tall. i could fit into one of those things, i have a hard enough time getting in and out of a ford taurus.

  • I drive a Mazda6, but I did sit in a SMART Car and it was actually comfortable, but it felt like I was riding in a car that was cut in half, because the back window was RIGHT behind me.

  • i only worry about idiots who tailgate me, i installed a rear brake light flasher, that seems to keep most ppl off my ass, otherwise, i love my smart!

  • have fun bringing home something big, or you might not have the money to get something

  • @zickaka

I hope you dont drive one of these, any man driving this car would look like a utter retard. Unless your gay.

  • @matty007007

The reason i drive a Smart is for the GAS mileage.

I am getting around 90 mpg out of my CDI Passion here in the Uk.

I hear that people in the US are struggling to get even 40mpg even with your smaller sized gallon.

    What a shame.

  • @zickaka thats just what ppl say to themselves to mak them feel better

  • @zickaka They say there is no safety compromise but since the frame stays rigid, your body and organs get slammed forward in a crash very quickly and there is no crush room to slow your speed down before that happens. They really are more dangerous for drivers inside. I totally understand them for slower speed commuting but it would take a lot to get me to take one on a freeway every day.

  • @zickaka I'll stick to my crew cab american trucks ;)

  • @zickaka lol im not gonna lie that was pretty gay

  • @zickaka not true i have a big ass diesel truck and i have to have it for my daily job and also haul my 4 wheeler.

  • @TheDemonStr WTf are you talking about :L :L i dont have cancer you fucking terrorsit!!

  • @zickaka say that to my EVO bitch

  • @zickaka I have a smart car and a huge dodge truck and a mercedes s500. Its all economical. But people that knock smart cars do not understand the reason people like me have one - I drive 300 miles a day, around subdivisions, checking all the crews in my company. It is just me, and a laptop and my navigation. When I need my diesel truck I take it. But this car saves me 700 dollars in gas a month. I was spending 1200+ a month in diesel alone.

  • I'd tell that guy to STFU!

  • When dealing with prostitutes, I recommend the Mini Cooper. There is room to fold the seat backs so you can create a little bed to lay your prostitute on.

  • haha u guys made my day

  • It looks like somebody beat the crap out of him for driving a smart :) His face is busted up pretty bad.

  • I get mine next week :-) 19 Male, Australia ECS And Hill Start Assist CD - Player aircon electric sunroof and like omfg... What more can you want for $15,000AU

Cheaper than a SUV, Or Hyundai Excel / I30 plus more safety and features. I can't wait. PEOPLE SHOULDNT DIS THE SMART Car until they have driven one, so smooth and powerful and i love the sound of the engine its like a mini jaguar/bmw roar.

  • u couold get tons of cars like this in india pakistan bangladesh and other third world countries for around 12 thousand dollars. fully loaded!!!

this is a joke, anyone who buys this is an idiot or a showoff. you know how they tell u 'less is more' well its not for u its for the companies, they make more buy selling u less.

i can c the type of ppl who'l buy this wd be ppl who pay 5 dollars 4 a cup of coffee n stand in long lines at starbucks n then say we shd conserve.

  • ...but the smart only costs around $12,000 brand new...

  • I'm getting one! 17th birthday! ahh

  • haha the guy driving looks like he was in a car wreck himself LoL

  • i'm getting that :P

  • Great car, great program

  • Smart Car != smart. fortwo

  • dewrenged, you're wrong.

  • it is safe. obviously not as safe as a huge suv but it is actually safe. watch some of the crash tests.

  • Well how about you take your SUV head on with an 80k-lb semi and see how safe you are. These cars are as safe as any. A head on collision in any vehicle is not going to be good, even in your SUV.

  • @kfox66 Bigger cars are generally safer. I would hate to be in a Smart that got hit by a mini cooper. The Smart would be totalled and you would be lucky to escape alive haha.

  • @ChrisW12208

Bigger cars are generally safer but not always.

Think of a NASCAR racer with a 54Hp CDI diesel and that the Smart is.

Mercedes have developed their Tridion Safety cell that protects every Smart owner to be one of the strongest in its class.

The crumple zone of the roof on any Smart is even stronger than the BMW Mini.

The Smart may be small but blimey it's a safe little car

  • the ideal layout of a car is a boxer engine low and no vibrations and symetrical and 4x4 yeah subarus are like that yeah buy a subaru they are good.

there is no need to spend more subaru cars are as good as it gets cost consiously speaking.

  • Did steve get hit in the head?

  • Europeans: tiny cars, big brains, huge d!cks.

Americans: huge cars, small brains, tiny d!cks.

    Sorry dudes, it's the truth.

  • The truth, it seems to me, is that YouTube is a bastion for America bashing. I'm beginning to think that Europeans and the rest of the world is really insecure and jealous of the USA and secretly would love to be more like us!

    Sorry dude, it's the truth!

P.S. Has Belgium gotten its government thing straightened out yet...I mean with all of you big brains and all.

  • this car rocks!

  • good music at the end... and the car...it rocks!

  • what engine have this car?? 71hp or 84hp??

    Thanks!!

  • 1.0ltr 3-cylinder 70hp engine? I'm not totally sure on power but I know its not 84. They just offer that one engine for the U.S. market.

  • Let's see how it does on the Moose Test ?

  • i got one of those!

  • It would be an investment, you could spend the money you save on gas on other things.

  • pretty neat little car, i would buy 1

  • Ok that's it I gotta get one. I went to see them and the quality is very good.

  • they take premium fuel.

  • awesome car..im getting one really soon..but somethin id like to know is does anyone know what kind of fuel this thing takes in?? an answer would be greatly appreciated..

  • the new ones take gas, the older models take diesel which sucks.

  • diesel's good. You can get a smart here in both Super-95, unleaded, Diesel and LPG.

  • i would like to know where it is legal to park like that? illegal as hell in california..try that shit out here.

  • not a "smart" idea anyway. Imagine the the damage from people bumping your doors getting in and out of the parking space.

  • see the crash test

  • hmm to the people that think the fortwo is a ''gay'' car you are obviously retarded so go ahead be stupid and buy a gas guzzling car and never have money because you spend it on gas because gas is expensive

  • Yet your watching Smart Videos on youtube. You must already suck dog cock if your already watching Smart vids =)

  • well, recent studies showed that smart car drivers are on top concerning IQ and income...

so, you are probably not a Smart driver - thank god! you would just ruine that studie...

  • OK, I want a Smart car now...you gotta love that parking job!

  • 1653lbs? The website says more like 1800lbs. Easy getting on the interstate? Sounded like he had to constantly redline the thing just to stay with traffic.

  • the radiohead song made this video.

  • i like this video because you were on south congress.

  • What's with the gash on the driver's forehead? Was he the one driving into the brick wall at 70 mph?

  • :D -BWAHAHA! That was funny argon3! I didn't want to ask about that. I figured, Austin was the last stop on this multi-city tour. He had probably been though a lot in that time... including, who knows? A drunken dive into a swimming pool? A bar brawl? A test-drive incident? We can only speculate.

  • I have 2 questions for you:

1:Can the Picanto park like the Smart Car?

2:Does the Smart Car also run on gas or is it strictly an electric running car?

  • 1. nopee

    2. GAS

    I'd rather have prius

  • I looked at them, and for a family car it would be great, but for me it I needed a car to get back and forth to work, alone. Buying the Prius would have meant I was giving up about 10 years of free gas for the Smart due to the price difference. It's all in the math.

  • This car definitely has a fun factor and makes a statement about progressive thinking. However, I don't see them becoming maintstream in the US anytime soon. Americans are still stuck on SUVs and big trucks. Those folks aren't likely to go for a Smart. Also, the fuel economy is dissapointing considering it's minute size. My 11yr old American economy car with a 2.0L 4cyl gets 35mpg hwy, not to mention is a wagon so it has LOADS more cargo space. The Smart is fun, but the specs are a let down.

  • It's a cool idea, but honestly, how practical is this car? Sure it's cheap, but so is a bike. If you need to haul any cargo bigger than a backpack and light groceries, you're SOL. Also, with that high profile and skinny

tires, I'd hate to drive that at highway speeds in a crosswind. My 2004 Accent has a real trunk and a backseat, and I still get 33-35 combined City/Highway. I'd personally rather have a motorcycle for ultra cheap commuting. To each their own I guess.

  • After lookin at the specs on this POS, I have realized what a scam it is. First off, it weighs almost a ton. Secondly, it only gets 41 MPG. Third, it requires premium fuel. I just bought a 2008 Honda Civic EX sedan that gets 36 MPG on regular fuel. Has more power, room and looks way better. Also, these things aren't gonna be cheap to purchase. And what will it's resale value be? A car of this type should get well over 50 MPG which it does not. It's nothing to get excited about.

  • Your Civic is getting 34Hwy with a manual trans, and 36Hwy with the auto, according to US Dept of Energy. The Smart is getting 33 cty/41 Hwy... Your Civic retails for $18,710 the Smart is $13,590. Really they are not even in the same class anyway, so its pointless to compare them. You either want a car like the Smart or not. I do agree it should be getting 50 MPG, but unfortunatly the EPA makes the diesel version not avail in the usa... The diesel verion is getting 60+ MPG but is slower too.

  • It's not built for speed. Though if you wanted one for racing you could do that. It would likely blow the doors off any of your friends Honda Civics. Look up "Smart Diablo" here on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

  • uniondude, it's power to weight ratio that determines "fast".

  • ace, iv added it to my msn so i remember to mail you. ull get them some time next week. take it easy!. peace

  • im 19 and i get mine next week, the 07 model. its cool....leather black seats which are heated and a proper mercedes music system inside rather than the origanal. but hey atleast i can say im driving a mercedes!. :)

  • That's sweet man! Are you in the USA? I'd love to have one for the spring/summer.

  • ahhh im from the uk man......but still it was only £5995 which i will pay monthly with the job i have as a photographic sales assistant. but yea i was very lucky, it was at the mercedes store in the next city and i was shocked to find that it was that cheap. with what it had in i would have thought it would have been a bit more and its only done jsut over 30,000 miles!. Itsthe dark blue colour as well.

I take it your very into the cars?.... write back.

    James

  • Actuallllly... more into scooters. But, I love microcars. I say that the Smart is an honorary 4-wheeled scooter.

Congrats on your good deal! Good to here you upgraded the stereo. I didn't really have an issue with the existing system, but I'm a big fan of GREAT sound.

    Is yours diesel or petrol?

    steve

  • its petrol and the passion model....its gunna turn out well, i dont know the full history of the speakers but all i know is they were fitted with the proper mercedes speakers. ill have to see what that sounds like. mabe some time next week i can get some images of it for you to see?.....its not done up like a bad boy car XD it looks no different from the 07 serise but ill show you the inside. only thjing i could have done with is a jack to plug my archos into :(

  • Cool man! Sounds like you're excited. Send photos, that'd be great!

    TheScooterScoop@gmail.com

  • Would you really want to pick up a hot chick in this tiny shit.

  • Truthfully? I'm not picky. I'd pick up a hot chick in a shopping cart if I had to.

  • 13,000 for pure, 16,000 passion

  • "It is quiet a bit of power for a 1600 pound car."

71 horsepower? No, the power to weight ratio is awful no matter how light it is.

Notice also how it downshifts every time he speeds up at all on the highway. That's real great for fuel economy and engine durability.

  • It has a higher power to weight ratio than my wife's V6 Dodge Magnum.

  • Cute!

  • Did this car cost $13,000? And, was it the 71 Horse Power?

  • What car was that? Pure , or Passion?

  • Passion

  • Who sings at the end of this video (artist or song)? tell me please! Thanks

  • Architecture In Helsinki - Heart It Races

Look it up on YouTube! Cool group.

  • I was at the ny auto show today and i was impressed with this car I am 6 foot 5 inches and weigh 315 pounds and i fit fine in it

  • You live in a dorm, you 19 year old turd. Call mommy for some more money, bot don't tell her about your lifestyle.

  • You are so PATHETIC and LAME, I've checked your blogs and like I said, you're throwing rocks and living in a glass house. You're too stupid to understand. I do like you're hit and run tactics, making a comments and hoping for no response. Talk about whinning. Geeze, you take the cake.

  • the guy even brought his momo helmet in case of a flip or whatsoever LOL..."mommy i'm too scared to overtake the bike in front me coz i got a brand new liter engine"...

  • Newt718: My earlier smart car comments were in response to a generalized (and incorrect) statement from another poster. It's only viewed as whining to you because it doesn't support your perspective.

Your spelling and grammar is even more pathetic. Thanks for your assumptions, but they are irrelevant and off the mark. You're the sad one, searching through "blogs" to read specific posts... ha ha ha, loser.

You're living in a glass house and throwing rocks.

  • Great video it gave me so much info!!! Now I wanna get one when im 16!

  • By that logic you'd never get a motorcycle, a cool convertible 2- seat sports car, a bike, roller skates, a Segway or a uni-cycle. The Smart has it's place, nicht war?
