which masters did you use to make these mixes? Did you use the 24bit 44.1khz 2009 remasters? Or did you use something like the 2009 in 16bit? Or did you rip some vinyl, or you used the 1987 cds? I just wonder... BTW, the mix is great!
I didn't use any of the Masters I used the multitracks so I could change the positioning of each instrument. Remastering doesn't change the way it's mixed it just changes how it sounds overall, a Remaster is just the original master with the audio cleaned up a bit and maybe Eq'd differently for modern Equipment.
great mix bro, you can really hear all the instruments as were supposed to be intended, if they had the technology we posses today, well worth the time and effort you put in!
just on my PC, I don't even have proper monitors so I sent it off to my friend a couple of times to check the levels. I've played it back in a studio but I didn't mix it in a studio.
@sgtelzilcho Wow, pretty impressive, i play guitar and have always wanted to learn how to work in a studio, thats where all the real magic is made. theres so much you can learn and do, especially with all the new digital equiptment there is today, its amazing how much diverse sounds george martin and the beatles got out of their basic equiptment back then, now a days so much can be done just on a pc, as you've proved, very cool!
even with all the cool digital equipment I still prefer the sound of analogue tape, I actually just bought an 8 track reel-to-reel tape machine. Tape is so much warmer than digital and while it might be easier to work on a PC the sound you get from tape is worth the hassle.
@sgtelzilcho i guess they knew what they were doing back then, EMI, the beatles record company before the band formed apple, bought the first 8 track player in england after it was invented and the beatles got to use it first at abbey road studios. george martin sure got the most out of that first machine, huh?
actually EMI were so cheap that "they didn't even buy the plug to plug the damn thing in!" so The Beatles first used 8 track at another london studio, I think it was Olympic Sound
@sgtelzilcho Yea, thats right, i remember hearing that story about the plug, how fuckin cheap can you get, they must have been making millions on the record sales and they didnt wanna buy the plug, thats another reason they started their own label, apple records, to get away from anybodys control over them!
I know the song talks about the beatles' issues with their manager, but i simply have to post my vision of it. So a girl always asks her parents for money, they never give her any, she tries to get on her own..but ends on the street..But still she's so awfully attracted to 'that magic feeling..nowhere to go'...And she dreams that someone will pick her up in a limousine..someone finally does, and to feel better while she give herself to a stranger she sings that nanny carol to herself...
I find quite annoying that people often relate the Beatles to songs like yellow submarine, she loves you or hey jude and never to masterpieces like these
A brilliant and heartfelt end to the amazing 12 year career of the beatles. Even though let it be their last released album would follow a year later. But still abbey road is a masterpiece!
@MelancholyApples The very end of the song on this video is actually not the original ending. That last guitar chord doesn't exist, which gives the song a very strange ending bass note
@MelancholyApples By now I'm sure you've heard that the song is Her Majesty but a little interesting fact is I believe Paul McCartney didn't like the song and did the equivalent of throwing the tapes away, but one of the producers found it and put it back on
@Yrkidding17 another interesting fact about Her Majesty is that it was originally played between Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam. After hearing it in its original position, I think that Paul should have left it there.
Thank you so much for doing this! I've listened to Abbey Road my whole life and have never came across a version that has the last chord to "Her Majesty." Did you source that from the Rock Band Release? Regardless it was, strangely, incredibly gratifying to hear that note. As if I didn't realize before that all these years hearing the album end as it does was like a jab; an unsettled and maybe unfitting ending to the brilliance of their career. Cheers.
Yea this was just done with the RB files but if you can be bothered to go through and deconstruct the stems then you can get a great set of really usable multitracks, I think It's got 50 something tracks after going back to it to work on now and again.
I'm glad you like the last chord, I wanted my mix to be different and not identical to the other videos floating around :)
her majesty according to wikipedia if it is correct is originally between mean mr mustard and polythene pam paul did not like it and wanted it removed
the medley is the collective name for the songs listed in the description, though you're better off buying the whole album on iTunes as the album is £8 but the songs in this video total £9 and there's 6 other songs on the album that you'd be missing

Thank you!! That was great, I will never stop enjoying this medley, and you did a great mix, Paul's bass needs to be heard, and Ringo's drums come out, he was such a solid drummer. You can hear how popular music branched off from this very grouping of songs. the Beatles were so good.
I dunno, I did mix it on a setup with a sub woofer so I might be getting more bass than you. I'm a bit miffed about the bass remark there, I always like lot's of bass in a mix and everyone I asked said this had plenty, should have followed my instincts :P
i understand that everyone has their own taste in music, and i have (unfortunately) met people who don't like the beatles. and i respect that since obviously everyone has their own opinion. BUT no one can call them overrated, or 'bad' or whatever the hell they call them.
they historically did things no one else did before musically. in 1963 the american music industry had around 600 million dollars. due to the beatles, this amount skyrocketed to over 1 BILLION. they are brilliant artists.
the greatest act in the history of entertainment and arguably one of the greatest sides of any Beatle album still brings tears to my eyes. All that they have meant to me and obviously so many more. And In The End
I have a feeling that the last note was added because you wanted it to have an end. I remember in the original song it didn't have that final note at the end.
HAHAHA...I'm older that dirt, and I've seen this album cover a zillion times. So how come it's the 1st time I've ever noticed that Paul's got a smoke in his hand? Wow, I need to lay off the funny cigarettes!
for the beatles Apple was just that, a label that went on their records. They entered a contract with EMI and you can't just get out of those like that. All other apple artists were signed to Apple but the Beatles were still signed to EMI until they split. that's why their later songs still used Parlophone cat. numbers instead of the APPLE **** numbers that Apple artists used. Even after they split many of their releases still used Parlophone cat. numbers until the contract ended
actually a lot of people say that without ever having heard them.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if a lot of people think they're good then they're not overrated. There is no one band that is better than another since all music is just about taste, I like the Beatles more than any other band but it doesn't make them the best band in the world. Let people like what they like, I could say a few modern pop stars are overrated but I don't coz I respect others opinions.
@sgtelzilcho I like Come Together, and Revolution, some of their songs. The hype made them a huge success, the fact that they were good looking guys helped. They weren't that good.
if looks were all they had going then you would think that people would have lost interest once they stopped touring and making loads of public appearances. People would have stopped buying their albums. People genuinely liked their music, I've never been attracted to any of them and the whole music scene even today is about looks, it's more about looks than anything else today (xfactor). Why do you keep stating your opinion as fact? you might not think they were good but other's do
If I didn't think they were any good I wouldn't own all their albums on vinyl, some more than once. It's not about seeing them Live, for me it's about the music.
As for them not being good in I am the Walrus Lennon used 8 chords in the opening alone, that's more than in some modern pop songs, they weren't just lookers they were good musicians too. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean they were bad.
@djilyaz anyone who likes , listens or even considers techno music, should not be allowed to comment on real music. This one medley is better then 99 percent of any other bands total catalog....just this one f'n medley...man you are deaf...computers don't make music it comes from inside. They were that good.
@edmundroessler i agree with you and disagree . i love dubstep (google it) and the Beatles along with other great bands like creedence, wings, ELO, the doors even gangster rap and some techno but i hope you can expand the kinds of music you like . im 14 and Mexican and i like banda and bluegrass, those are like complete different genres but i also agree that no one can even be compared to the Beatles they will forever be the greatest band ever but i also think computers can make beautiful music
@djilyaz: They literally took virtually every style available up to then, incorporated into their music, and made it something entirely new. They have inspired countless bands since. From a historical perspective they changed virtually everything in the music business. Love them or hate them you should at least respect them.
@djilyaz: You have the right to say that. Still, in 10 years, they wrote over 150 songs that are better than anything you could come up with in 150 years; and, along the way, inspired hundreds of millions.
which masters did you use to make these mixes? Did you use the 24bit 44.1khz 2009 remasters? Or did you use something like the 2009 in 16bit? Or did you rip some vinyl, or you used the 1987 cds? I just wonder... BTW, the mix is great!

The one thing Beatles didnt deliver were drums in both headphones, so thank you for that :)

WLS-AM used to play part of the medley as an extended suite, startin' with 'Golden slumbers', thru, 'The end'. Anybody else remember that?

Not many people know this but mean mr mustard was about bobby charlton and his comb over and how he hated george best.

I noticed you said EMI Ltd, This was an Apple Record...
noelthemexican 4 months ago
@noelthemexican
for the beatles Apple was just that, a label that went on their records.

The most over-rated band in the history of music...
djilyaz 4 months ago
@djilyaz
actually a lot of people say that without ever having heard them.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and if a lot of people think they're good then they're not overrated. There is no one band that is better than another since all music is just about taste, I like the Beatles more than any other band but it doesn't make them the best band in the world. Let people like what they like, I could say a few modern pop stars are overrated but I don't coz I respect others opinions.
sgtelzilcho 4 months ago 27
@sgtelzilcho I like Come Together, and Revolution, some of their songs. The hype made them a huge success, the fact that they were good looking guys helped. They weren't that good.
djilyaz 4 months ago
@djilyaz
if looks were all they had going then you would think that people would have lost interest once they stopped touring and making loads of public appearances. People would have stopped buying their albums. People genuinely liked their music, I've never been attracted to any of them and the whole music scene even today is about looks, it's more about looks than anything else today (xfactor). Why do you keep stating your opinion as fact? you might not think they were good but other's do
sgtelzilcho 4 months ago
@sgtelzilcho
cont.

They were that good.
edmundroessler 3 months ago
@edmundroessler i agree with you and disagree . i love dubstep (google it) and the Beatles along with other great bands like creedence, wings, ELO, the doors even gangster rap and some techno but i hope you can expand the kinds of music you like . im 14 and Mexican and i like banda and bluegrass, those are like complete different genres but i also agree that no one can even be compared to the Beatles they will forever be the greatest band ever but i also think computers can make beautiful music
kevGrajeda09 3 months ago
@djilyaz: They literally took virtually every style available up to then, incorporated into their music, and made it something entirely new. They have inspired countless bands since. From a historical perspective they changed virtually everything in the music business. Love them or hate them you should at least respect them.
wmjbean 4 months ago
@djilyaz: You have the right to say that. Still, in 10 years, they wrote over 150 songs that are better than anything you could come up with in 150 years; and, along the way, inspired hundreds of millions.

@MrForsyth91 Yes! well said sir. I'm sure you stole that from someone, it's too brillant. I'm also stealing it...
