John, make a plan like the following, and stick to it.
Begin saving money up bigtime. Give yourself a time limit for doing this, as well as coming up with something you prefer to do. Then quit the job and do it.
I love this. I'm in the same boat. I don't hate my job, but I just think that if I don't move on to something else, that I'll get stuck in this job for ever. And I want to live my life while I'm still young, rather than wait around and one day realise that I could've been doing so much more
I know how you feel, mate. Funny thing is, even my colleagues at the office seem to feel that my job is not exactly "me" (I'm kind of an artistic a lawyer). Yet, they seem to like the fact: They seriously wanted to put a picture of me wearing a rather jazz looking (Can you say that?) hat and laughing on our new homepage for they felt it would rather represent me than the usual serious lawyer look does *g*.
So, however, be yourself when you're ready. I'm sure you will be! :-)
I've been doing jobs for 20 years that were never "me" but sometimes you have to do what you have to in order to pay bills and just generally survive. Unfortunately this is the way life and society has unfolded. Sometimes "getting out of it" is easier than it sounds. When you live pay cheque to pay cheque, it's either that or the streets...
But you do what you can when you can. If you can make the change now, then DO it mate! :)
@YourPhilOfCanada I know. You are right. However maybe we do what we have to do but still work hard on things that could possibly pull us out of what we dont want to do... lol... its a bit confusing at times.
@apples33ds That's what I've been trying to do for 20 years my friend! LOL I hope you have better luck.
I could actually make a one hour youtube video just on this topic! But I think it would be pretty depressing.
I'm the first to admit that I hate work tho (especially for corporations) not that I have a problem with 'hard work' (what ever that means), but I just have a habit of screwing up to the point of fearing it.
If only I could be self employed for the rest of my life! LOL
Your so adorable. Your not a lemming. we all feel that way at times, but your an artist. your music is your expression. one day the two will intertwine. its never too late to change your mind, and make a move that makes you feel better, or more comfortable.

this is the sound of an artist drowning. make a change, in your head, or your heart, or die in the soul killing matrix. which pill will you take?

I honestly believe that you are meant to dedicate yourself to music. In the meantime, any job in between's just filler. Nuff said.

And I completly agree with the whole robot office jobs, trying so hard not to get into that kind of job but there is hardly anything else.
I've been a computer monkey and I do NOT want to go back to it, even if it means benefits haha.
Keep ya chin up dude, and good luck!
