They say that you have about 200 dreams a night, and that they only last a few seconds (I think about 10 seconds) in your head. I think this theory makes sense, because when you sleep your mind is still working, but I don't think you can really focus your attention that well, hence your mind having all kinds of crazy dreams that don't last all that long in your mind.
I think when you were watching Star Trek you subconsciously wanted to see them in the episode, and when they didn't appear your brain said "Well, I'll fix that."
Why didn't they make an episode with Q messing with the borg? How funny would that be!
I had a zombie dream 2 nights ago too, but no borg, just plain old zombies, although I DO think they were future-zombies... which would only make sense if you were there... which you weren't, but that 'other guy' was... again! ugh

Not a big fan of the "on trial for humanity" episode, but Q is my favorite character by far.
