no 302 tigers ever made ; they were built before ford made a 302! saw one years ago had a 289 hipo put in it instead of the 260 . hipo 289 rated 271 hpower for insurance purposes like all hipo cars back then & that was on the ground hpower aka brake hpower . a lot of those cars were rated at 3800 to 4300 rpm hence low hpower numbers ! cars now are rated at the flywheel except roush , hennesey & such .
And to think that these are more than 40 yrs old now. And they still toast most if what comes out today. It's also worth more than a vette so that douchebag commenter earlier can eat it.
sorry no i will ask him and let u know the car will redline at 6000rpm but there is know need to rev it that much because all the power is down at botom end the best thing about it is u can put it in 4th and it will take of like a train if u drop me youre e-mail i will send u sum pics of it
skyline, I did a numbers crunch and with 24 3/4 inch rear tires, a 4 spd, 3.31 gears 144 MPH would be at 6300 RPM aprox. Interesting, the close ratio top loader with same combo yeilds about 58 mph 1st gear red line, 73 mph 2nd, 114 mph 3rd etc. And I wondered why anybody would put a 4.11 rear in a Tiger, like the one in my barn. 80 Mph max in the basket case, but felt like 150.
What cam you running? Sounds healthy. The 260 wasn't always compatible with aluminum heads which really sucks. And the damn crossmember won't allow for a tremac 5spd. But the toploader shifts so sweet with a hydraulic clutch.
dstennes, sounds like a 289 Hi Po solid lifter, or a 292 degree Hyd lifter cam with that kind of red line. Man I'd be happy with 6500! this is a cool video and tugs at my resto fever to a project thats been "barned" too long. 66' Mk1A 5.0 4spd, 3:31, powerlocker, Alan Root Alum heads, 2:02 1:60 B 303 Roller 284 .516 lift at 1.72 roller rockers. Back in the day, I was about only the second guy to figure a 5.0 block would fit. Thanks to Ford stuffing a 5.0 in Explorers, new life has been given.
tigers started of with a 260 then went to a 289, they never had 302's i dont fink unless they were a racing special, people put them n for obvious reasons
i really enjoyed that car video yay
