why can't the government let us choose what we use in our homes, people have been using the old style light bulbs for years. also the old style bulbs give an instant light whereas the CFL bulbs take time to warm up, useless unless you leave them on all the time. and the price of the CFL bulbs is a lot higher at least 3 times the price of the old bulbs.

@alistairstuart2009 what u also need to remember about these cfls is that they dont last as long as you're told. Therefore, you''l be stuck paying all that cash for a product that doesnt last long and that looks horrible. No matter how inefficient incandescents are, to me, there is no kind of light bulb that can give off the great warm light than a good old incandescent. I'm glad that there are millions of ppl like this person in the video who will not fall for these moronic green scams.

@LHFX Let me put u on to something. there are many false promises that CFLs have. 1) They dont last, NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE LIFE SPAM as promised. 2) Even if they do last for years, they get dimmer with in that time period. 3) Even your idiot green friends say that if one breaks, u might have to pay $2,000 bucks to get a clean up crew to wipe out the toxic shit. 4.) CFLs do are not the only electric sources in ur home that conbribute to energy use.

@LHFX With incandescents, u have less to worry about. So from that being said, CFLs are not worth it. as i said b4, i think its safe to say that most Americans are capable of saving energy if they really want to. I've done the math using actual measurements and I've saved 60 EUR last year with capital costs considered and here in Romania where the average monthly salary is 500 USD, it means something. As for the mercury issue, not even counting the fact that one should recycle them, burning the extra coal for your bulbs releases 3 times more mercury than the amount contained in a CFL.THINK before investing in a ton of incandescent crap.

However, if a CFL breaks in my house (And accidents do happen sometimes) that means i'l be breathing it into my own home? I love ur logic of thinking. Yes one should recycle cfls, however how many ppl do u really think are gona actually take the time to actually drive to a recycling center to dispose them properly. @LHFX It doesnt matter if CFLs have less or more mercury than anything. Even a little mercury can be harmful. However, when an incandescent breaks, you can save urself some time by throwing it away and not having to worry about the cost of a clean up crew. We've been using edisons for over 100 years and im still alive. Luckally that "mercury" realeased from coal hasnt killed me yet. Next, you're gona tell me that incandescents are responsible for the earth heating up. Get lost lib-tard

I just recently went to someones house and notice they have a few halogen bulbs in their house. from what i see, they ALMOST look exactly like the old incandescents we're used to seeing. I kinda noticed a very slight different color in halogens. their light is just a bit cooler than the warm lighting in today's incandescents but again, its very little difference. the halogen bulb is not a bad replacement for today's incand. but i still prefer those

@alistairstuart2009 the difference between halogens and the incandescents we used today is that the halogen has a small capcil inside the bulb which prevents it from getting very hot. It still gets warm but not as hot as the incandescents we use today. Thats how the halogen achieves its efficiency standard. Either way, this so called "energy efficiency standard" is stupid. I have stocked up on old skool bulbs anyway cuz u never know if these greenies change their mind and may wana ban halogens
