Miny Gerard, his wife, is my mother's aunt. He was like my uncle. Just to clear up anyway, he bought the rights to that song as the original did not make a serious breakthrough. From then on he took it, did some work on it, and it became very popular/demanded in Europe.
Yeah Man, I used to say to my girlfriend "Je t'aime je t'adore comme la salsa di pomodore" but I didn't know that it was a song. Great Tune, thanks a lot to post it brotherman
i heard this song on the juke boxes in france (cannes) in the early 60's while serrving in the US Navy. brings back wonderful memories that you for the posting
Guys, this song is an Egyptian song, sung by Bob Azam, who was of Lebanese origin and lived in Egypt in the time when Egypt was a cosmopolitan country, and was economically and culturally flourishing. He was one of Egypt's jews, who soon afterwards ( after that era) decreased dramatically. He is one of those who will be a constant reminder of a time when tolerance and diversity was only natural in Egypt.
I first heard this tune in Germany in 1962. Became very popular. The German version was warning Mustafa, who was infatuated with the sultan's daughter, to forget about her and save his life. I heard a Greek song to this tune, also, something about a fine lady pining for her lover. Thanks for posting!
the 60's 2 songs i heard over and over mostly while in france was mustapha by bob azzam and milord by edith piaf thanx for posting it takes me back the sidewalk cafes with le sandwhich jamb on et fromage
Your detailed description of the song has given a completely new life to the song for me. The provenance of history behind the song is so immpressive and interesting. Thanks for sharing a nice music.

Miny Gerard, his wife, is my mother's aunt. He was like my uncle. Just to clear up anyway, he bought the rights to that song as the original did not make a serious breakthrough. From then on he took it, did some work on it, and it became very popular/demanded in Europe.

This song was very popular at Detroit's Greek Town Restaurants in the 1960's.
