  • 1:02 super mario bros. !!!

  • Dear Nick Cannon,

That is what real drumming looks like.

  • @drummerguy134

I thought drumming was for listening, not looking at...

  • @whatshendrix

Yes, but 1) The point in me saying that was in the movie "Drumline", all the drumming is pretty much visual stuff and my point was that this is what it is actually like 2) drumming is also visual. It's not just the music that makes it so amazing (all though that's the main thing), the visual aspect of it makes it amazing as well =)

  • what stick is he using?

  • gavity blast ftw

  • I came

  • mario at 105 :)

  • omfg i came at the right hand traditional lick

  • I wish you could get paid for marching in DCI and stuff, but hey. thats just how the world works

  • That drum just got prison raped in public

  • OMG 2:30

  • his traditonal is on right hand haha but this guy is amazing!!

  • Beautiful......

  • jesus i wish i was that good

  • nice blast beats in the beginning.

  • chode

  • im gonna sound ignorrant but is he using a gravity blast.?

  • @klinton123 -.- cliche metal drumming term. Really stupid if you ask me. The real term for it is one hand rolls.

  • i agree with u dude if it's marching stuff u should be calling it a one handed roll.

by the way i have been trying to work on those i don't know if you're any good at them but if u are u got any tips for me

  • @Givitomey practice. xP

  • thanks man way to leave an obvious comment i ment do u have any techniques or any thing

  • lol 2:50. he would play on 1 foot :)

  • jajaja

    mario that shit is hilarious!!

damn i wanna learn how to do that stupid hand roll

  • You know he had to hit his leg about a million times in practice during 3:00 and up.

  • frickn' finger lickn' good!

  • i cant believe he majored in mathematics.

  • I don't see why not. People in music generally tend to accell in math.

plus There isn't really a place you can take tenor drums outside of High school, College, DCI, and WGI...I guess what I'm tryin to say is that as with something like drumset where you can be a professional solo artist, or play in a band till you decide to quit, You can't really do that with tenor drums. It isn't really an instrument where people consider others going "pro". Can't really get paid for it.

  • @Tenorsarefun

i wish i could make money doing marching/corps style drumming. but there isnt any demand for it, and the people that do have jobs in the biz make little money, making them have to take on 3-4 drumlines just to make ends meet. thats why people give it up, because unless your scojo or tim, you probably wont make decent cash. shoot even set is hard to make money at.... it's far more practical...but no one makes it big in a band or anything.

  • that'd be bad ass if you could make a living from doing marching percussion. I would probably quit high school, LOL!

  • seriously, i would too. i would rather do something i love then sit at a desk lol.

  • at least not that I know of...

  • Blast

  • paid enough to make a decent living. Not just extra money

  • @KickinBabys when you think about it, drumming is very mathematical. every rhythm is a specific amount of time, Corresponding to a bpm and a time signature. without written rhythms and a bpm system corps style playing wouldnt even be possible

  • ARZiehm-I think KickinBabys was being sarcastic, otherwise i completely agree on the mathematical tip, i think the challenge is to humanize it.

  • lol now that i look at it again, he probably was being sarcastic lol

  • Question, does anybody know what heads and sticks he is using for this solo?

  • haha 1:04 mario theme song!!!!!

  • QUAD GAWDDDD

  • lol he plays mario

  • Love the Mario Bros. references near the beginning of the solo. Really added structure to the overall composition, and it gave it something recognizable that the crowd could connect with. Great idea. This is definitely one of the better Tim Jackson solos. I kind of wished he would've stayed with video game themes, but then it wouldn't've been very original, I suppose. Altogether: 4.9/5.

  • hey man. that was sexy.

  • OMFG tenor leg scrapes ftw

  • OMG!!!! The sickness!!!!

  • is the first album by Disturbed, kind of a random fact for you to bring up, lol. jk

  • Dude, rockin singles right before 2:00

  • greates drummer in the world. This guy could play 8s and make it amazing

  • lol, 8's is the dumbest thing ever! its a warm up for pete's sake! he wld only make it amazing by screwin around. haha!

  • dont diss 8s man

  • yeah an exercise you probably overlook

  • 8 on a hand is the most important thing you can play cause everything you can play can be related to 8th notes and 16th notes

  • @BlueDevilsTowelBoy Not really triplets or things like fivelets lol

  • Silly Scrapes =P

  • Mario! lol

  • do they not play mario in belgium? it seemed like no one got that

  • the title says Tim Jackson in Belgium when i clicked on it i swear to god i saw a black dude at first.

  • that's not even fair

  • how does he do that with one hand?

  • It has something to do with the placement of your stick on the rim.I can do it,but I forgot what it's called.

  • Gravity Beats, it's not too hard. Plus it's really fun.

  • Not really comtemporary though, just for show and fun.

  • 1 hand roll lol

  • one handed roll, that's what i call it

  • it's called the "freehand technique", not gravity beats...

  • Watch Johnny Rabb's explanation of what he calls the "freehand technique." It's all there.

  • 3:22. wtf. why is he using right hand traditional lol. not that he isnt amazing. he is

  • that hardly looks like him compared to his i&e solos

  • I guess he decided to have hair. ;)

  • Ya lol at the Rhythm X show this past weekend I saw him and he looked completely different.

  • mario yay

  • lol love the super mario bros., and also the music for when you drop down into the pipes.

  • LOL after I watched the first 30 seconds I thought "wow...that was really good..I bet that's probably all he might do for this video.." then I looked at the time for the video I was like "No way...." I'm savin' this one for sure

  • Is it me, or does he play "Deck the Halls" at 1:05?

  • lol i hear it too! ;D

  • It's the Super Mario Brothers theme at 1:05

but with extra taps it does sound a bit like deck the halls at the start of it.

  • Wow...how did I miss that?

  • with extreme singles at the end of underworld

  • nice Mario theme

  • Wow this is crazy. Im thinking about play tenors next marching season anyone have any tips for sweeps and stuff like that?

  • yeah need some dude?

  • Nope..He's just asking

  • ... i've tried some scrapes and what i can tell you is get down your basics ... i know it's all showy to scrape/sweep but that's after mastering the basics double stroke rolls and movement i suggest bill bachmans instructional dvd's/books

  • awesome but the echo ruined it

  • this dude is the molar king. jojo would be proud.

  • OMFG 1HAND ROLE? this guy is INSANE

  • Its not That hard to pull off man. I learned pretty quick!!

  • Yeah if you have your Instructor theirs.

Haven't Played since 2 Years, and compared to anything of DCG(Drum Corps Germany)I'm just a little amateur, ok was only Playin' in a Bass line of 2 Basses ;)

  • He's still quite ridiculous lol

  • WOW thats so cool !!!!!

  • i like when he does mario

  • Those heads sound dead, especially the 2 head...

  • FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW....HES USING THE GRAVITY BLAST TECHNIQUE....double speed...same effort look "gravity blast" up...its hard but worth it...

  • hey dude that is marios theme songs jaja isnt that copyright infrigment jk well ya u did great

  • Rubberized drum stick heads. They sound nice on the tenors.

  • ran311dom says that he's better than all of you and that you dont have the balls to send him a message stating otherwise

  • Incredible!

    That right hand is unbelievable.

  • thats what she said

  • He's not playing Vic anymore, he's got some contract with Innovative Percussion to get his own designed stick. Thats what ive heard

  • @bendrumsalot415

Yeah, he's with Innovative. The tenor line at my school last year used them a time or two i think.

  • O_O

  • gotta love the reverse traditional

  • how's that even possible...

  • Are you talking about the gravity-rim roll? Possible with practice.

  • Yea, but hard to do, lol

  • what kind of sticks are those looks like black tiped

  • Looks waaay different without glasses.

    Hes still a god.

  • haha super mario brothers!

  • Are there any other vids from the "Masters of Percussion Day"?

  • u suck

  • and your videos are where?

  • Who the hell are you? Where are your performances marked "master of percussion"? Or your VF sponsored videos?

  • cant believe he just busted out mario.

  • goodness.
