Yes, but 1) The point in me saying that was in the movie "Drumline", all the drumming is pretty much visual stuff and my point was that this is what it is actually like 2) drumming is also visual. It's not just the music that makes it so amazing (all though that's the main thing), the visual aspect of it makes it amazing as well =)
I don't see why not. People in music generally tend to accell in math.
plus There isn't really a place you can take tenor drums outside of High school, College, DCI, and WGI...I guess what I'm tryin to say is that as with something like drumset where you can be a professional solo artist, or play in a band till you decide to quit, You can't really do that with tenor drums. It isn't really an instrument where people consider others going "pro". Can't really get paid for it.
i wish i could make money doing marching/corps style drumming. but there isnt any demand for it, and the people that do have jobs in the biz make little money, making them have to take on 3-4 drumlines just to make ends meet. thats why people give it up, because unless your scojo or tim, you probably wont make decent cash. shoot even set is hard to make money at.... it's far more practical...but no one makes it big in a band or anything.
@KickinBabys when you think about it, drumming is very mathematical. every rhythm is a specific amount of time, Corresponding to a bpm and a time signature. without written rhythms and a bpm system corps style playing wouldnt even be possible
Love the Mario Bros. references near the beginning of the solo. Really added structure to the overall composition, and it gave it something recognizable that the crowd could connect with. Great idea. This is definitely one of the better Tim Jackson solos. I kind of wished he would've stayed with video game themes, but then it wouldn't've been very original, I suppose. Altogether: 4.9/5.
LOL after I watched the first 30 seconds I thought "wow...that was really good..I bet that's probably all he might do for this video.." then I looked at the time for the video I was like "No way...." I'm savin' this one for sure
... i've tried some scrapes and what i can tell you is get down your basics ... i know it's all showy to scrape/sweep but that's after mastering the basics double stroke rolls and movement i suggest bill bachmans instructional dvd's/books
Haven't Played since 2 Years, and compared to anything of DCG(Drum Corps Germany)I'm just a little amateur, ok was only Playin' in a Bass line of 2 Basses ;)

@klinton123 -.- cliche metal drumming term. Really stupid if you ask me. The real term for it is one hand rolls.
PogoPantheon 2 years ago
i agree with u dude if it's marching stuff u should be calling it a one handed roll.
