When I hear this I think of Maj Gen. Patrick Cleburne's charge at Franklin, he was one of the greatest Confederate generals of the American Civil War and lead his men into every battle bravely. He died charging fortifications at the Battle of Franklin leading his men on foot with his cap in one hand and his sword in the other. May he and his men rest in peace.
@muellerbones It was common for generals to get wounded or killed leading troops in battle in the Civil War and many wars before unlike generals in later wars how people think of staying behind the front lines. One reason generals had to be close or in the battle with their troops was because of good communication and rallying of the men. Many of the best generals of the war were killed or wounded in combat.
@TheAlexVaughan I don't know man... All I remember is that I left the cinema with a strange feeling, as if the seed of a melody was planted in my soul. 6 YEARS later I found out what was the melody that comforted me in some of the most difficult moments of my life. It was this one.

Greatest idea ever - if Assassin's Creed 3 is set during the French and Indian War or the Revolution, they should use this song during an epic moment in the game
Listened to this song on "The Departed" film starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, Anthony Anderson, Alec Baldwin.
@2littlelies What's wrong with the guard? I've plenty of friends who have gone to war with the national guard, some have died. I am now in the guard off of active duty, my guard unit is leaving for Afghanistan in 7 months. A large percentage of my unit have college degrees, I myself am working on my PhD. The rumor that only destitute citizens join the military is simply false, liberal propaganda. There are men and women from all walks of life who want to serve their nation.
When I was at Parris Island in fall '97, one of our drill instructors fired this up while giving us a motivational talk right before a drill formation competition. I didn't know what it was at the time, but damn it fired us up.

@clodge631992 thats what i used to do when i was a kid. I would get a long stick and pretend it was a rifle, a small rake used in a sandbox and pretend it was a tomahawk, and I would get one of those plastic knives from a bow and arrow dart set and play this music in my head and run around in my backyard.
@clodge631992 lmfao... I already did it man.. well, not the woods cuz I live in Ireland and there are like no fucking woods.. JUST FIELDS I ran through the rolling fields with this song blasting
this is a great song for running. Even tho i live in seattle, i feel like daniel day lewis running through the woods, musket and tomahawk in hand when i listen to this. Badass!
@kikabiotch Lol I wish we didnt give you supplies and weapons and then assistance. Yet we did, and saved you guys. The United States of America might be on a little decline because of the scumbags in Political office, but it is still the land of opportunity, the land of freedom and hope, the land where one can go from rags to riches, the land I call great, the land I love, the land that is my home.
Still think when the English officer had traded his own death for Hawkeyes life because he knew only Hawkeye and his father and brother could save the sisters. What a epic way for all the asshat stuff he did to be completely washed away. And it was made all the more by this piece of music.
Every time i listen to this i close my eyes, i think to myself, why, why does everything happen, is it for something else to happen for that to continue? why do we need our countries to wage through war, how many soldiers have been lost in all the wars that rage on through history, all the civilians who lost their lives, brothers, sons, daughters, sisters, mothers, fathers, wifes, husbands. war will rage on forever, YOU are a war against the world trying to survive, its in our DNA, it never ends
You can do anything to this song, and it would be epic. For example, i had it playing while i walked into the kitchen and got a beer from the fridge. Epic...
@Polusviridisastrum With this song, I picture a guy going into the kitchen, opening the fridge and taking a beer out. The camera then zooms in on the beer to see a couple of drops of condensation drip down the side. All, in slow motion.
I went to a local farm with a big open grassy hill, running and wearing a kilt and an armed with a tomahawk and face painted like William Wallace, with this song on...very dramatic and epic...haha joking but that's what I just pictured listening to this.
Daniel Day-Lewis is an exceptional actor. hes amazing. His role as bill the butcher in Gangs of New York is incredible as well. check our that movie if u havent seen it. amazing.
