The bear was just as scared as everyone else in this video. He was not in an attack mode and only wanted to find a way out.The paved road was the easiest route. That guy coming down the road didn't have the common sense too get off the path and had to be told by the park ranger. Had it been a grizzly, now, that would have been a different story!

There are more foreign visitors to the nations park system that don't have a clue. Just last year while in the smokey mountians I watched a family approach a small black bear cub. I literally was able to grab the people and move them away from the cub just as the mother bear came out of the woods. These people were from Germany and almost lost their lifes. I hiked Mt Mitchell this summer and observed a large black bear at the tent site on the ridge. The bear was eating a campers backpack. I got too close, or in-between this bear and the next backpack, and it gave me a warning stomp. Check out the video on my channel if ya like.

one afternoon I was walking on the mountains to sea trail, south of craven gap, when above me on the parkway I heard a car stop, guys yelling, getting out and crashing through the woods, trying to chase a bear... well the bear came down the slope right towards me... I thought oh great, a scared bear, and I'm in its escape route. But I backed up and it crossed the trail and kept going downhill, and the guys lost interest and left. I mean, thanks for chasing the bear at me!!
