Hi i need some help what is required to get into music therapy? ive looked everywhere and the only require i see is a audition interview and theory test, what might be on the theory test? + im from canada
I have been looking for something as a potential career change. I have taken personality tests, etc... that show counseling, clergyman, musician as being high on the list. I wonder if this might be the perfect combination of both for an ENFP?
@vanight Your question might be rhetorical, but in no way to offend I would suggest following your dreams and not let a mere test dictate your future.
I started psychology but right now is on stand by because my passion is music. I'm a cellist, or well trying to be one, also a bassist. anyways music is my life but I want to mix both careers. I want to be a incidental composer and musictherapist. You know it's pretty hard for me to describe all these feelings about this wonderfull career but let me tell ya', share your passion and HELP people with that. Priceless. :D
the video made me learn more abour Music therapy, I'm originally decide to study music therapy as amy major, but I 've not yet decided which school! So Which school is the video mentioned at? Or it doesesnt matter wehther study in any school that provided this major, btw, I really want to know to get the music score for the song that the video played at the beginning.
Ah, I see that in part 4, the video mentions the name of the piece. I guess since I'm a musician myself, I already knew that before the video said it. LOL! XD
If anyone is wondering what the name of the piano and cello piece is from 5:00 to 5:23, it's entitled "Memory" from the Broadway musical, "Cats."I'm having fun researching about music therapy for one of my projects in college, and this is a very informative video. Mind if I use it as one of my sources? It's brilliant! =)
I'd love to be a music therapist. I've got a grade 5 on both piano and guitar but haven't played for a while and i am currently studying psychology. Do you think it would be possible for me to become a music therapist?
@TheVoicelesson Before insulting a profession or even a video, you need to first watch the whole video and then do your research on the profession. For example, watch this video starting at 6:57. Music therapy does NOT replace medical treatment or claim to heal medical conditions by itself. It is an auxiliary therapy, much like physical or recreation therapy.
Obviously I'm all for this and of course it;s a good thing. HOWEVER - we are only beginning to understand why certain things work and certain things dont. Music Therapy is a very young science and like all young sciences it can be open to interpretation and may yet change. Some of these kids sound a little brainwashed. Keep free thinking folks.
@cullyvan What does brainwashing "sound" like? Maybe I can use that sound for Music Therapy? And yes some these students are 'hyped' about music therapy we like other sciences and therapies have to follow the scientific method to eliminate biasis, and are very open minded. We realize that Music Therapy cannot resolve all problems, and often times make referals to other therapists and professionals when such a time arises.
I am loving this video. I am majoring in music therapy at the University of Alabama :) I can tell these students have been drilled by the same material I have because their wording is very careful :)
thank you so much for uploading this material... i am a musician and i just found my true calling with music... wich is to heal my self and others with its power.... medicina que sale de la bocina
excellent series of videos, these have been very helpful to me as an architecture student trying to understand the nature of how music therapy is administered and what it actually entails. Thanks for posting them.
Does it have Copyright ? Because it really is beautiful, I would be happy to be able to listen to it when I want. (Excuse my bad english, that's not my native langage)
It was performed and recorded at a university concert. I have a copy of the full song, but will not be able to give it away without the permission of the composer. Sorry.
thank you so much for putting these videos up, Music therapy really seems ot be something that can really make the healing process a much more peaceful and enjoyable time.
