One hell of a storm. There are videos of the same storm system from other parts of the D.C. None as bad as this one.

Looks like you guys got nailed in this storm! Bet it brought the morning rush hour to a halt. Were there many reports of damage around the city?

@lovemytrains The storm caused a bunch of damage. A lot of trees falling into houses, and such. Still a lot of blue tarps on roofs in and around the city.

Woweee...love that aweosme lightning and great thunderclaps' show I saw here....love those high-quality thunderclaps from your big Tstorm of 8/12/10..BTW..BTW...exactly 30 years earlier on the same day..I audiotaped in stereo a huge 3am Tstorm...tons of lightning and thunder.....on 8/12/80...I still have the audiotape today...had camcorders and YouTube existed back then...I would have made for quite an awesome video too..just like yours!!!

Again....my 8/12/80-audiotaped Tstorm would be an easy comparison with your own awesome video 30 years later, exactly....which I enjoyed viewing...big big time!

@FromUnderTheRock I believe that storms like this would be no big deal to me if my grandma hadn't made us unplug everything in the house, fill the bathtub with water, and sit with all the lights out, in the living room, EVERY time she heard a clap of thunder.

Man, that was dropping some serious rain too. I like watching storms myself, but only from the safety and comfort of my house. it automatically seems a bit more eerie when the lights go out.

@RamblinAround I was just finishing work on a high rise apt building that had it's roof blown off during a previous storm. This storm knocked out even the backup generator, and the roof started to leak yet again haha!

haha that was intense :D thx for sharing :) i remember i believe back in 09 we had a storm sorta like this in Ontario (Mississauga) we have black clouds.... i literally mean black clouds..... and it was like hell on earth lol you couldent even see passed you hood during the rain.... and when the lightning hit sounded like a huge car accident... but the lightning was nothing compared to what i saw here :)) must of been a bit scary watching it lol
