  • Look at his left hand LOL! He should publish a method book.

  • @jonyboulder2 he has ,,,lol

    its called"the guitar book "

  • Wow. Lovely.

  • Beautiful. I've played guitar for 30 years and Pierre is quite humbling.

  • Hi P{ierre I first met you in Hexham Northumberland in about 1974. Thanks to your introduction to P{aris France and \all the great musicians and friends I met there. SYLA

  • And somehow justin bieber get's millions of views...this guy has a beautiful playing style and you never hear his name :(

  • he really is one the best 5 who've ever played the thing. Sweet Jesus H.

  • Something there is about this song that makes my heart cry

  • je l'ai vu 2 fois et à chaque fois c'était génial .

  • Great Artist!Seems Also very humble

  • i hate that cant listent to other songs after i listen to this one..

  • With due respect to all super-talented musicians out there. There are few people I would consider prolific. And Pierre without question is one of them. Regardless of whether his music is your style or whatever, the man has an unbelievable command of the instrument and a beautiful mind for song writing. And... probably one of the most technically proficient professionals out there too. Just unbelievable. Mad props to Pierre.

  • Rylynn????? All due respect but that guy can't hold this man's jock, much tune his guitar.

  • dude ur out of ur mind!!!!!1

  • I do agree that Pierre does perform this well and is a talented musician but if you listen sometimes he misses notes. When i met him he taught a workshop and said that every not must be played beautifully but when he performed many of his notes were not up to expectationm of what he mentioned.

  • @TheGentlemanBronco Its Music not A Tennis Match!!

  • @TheGentlemanBronco dude this is nails. and he is playing it about 15 bpm faster than intended when he wrote it. And if this workshop was recent, he is old now. Give the guy a break.

  • @TheGentlemanBronco

1st: consider the difficulty of this song.

2nd: what the fuck? which notes are missing in this tune? It's PERFECT.

  • Beautifully Done! What a great piece of music performed by an Excellent guitarist.

  • cool perform

  • I am so sick of everybody hopping on Andy's nuts

He's pretty new to this kind of music in comparison to alot of people, ya know

  • Pierre plays the most alive and sensitive music I've heard. He is a conduit to inner feeling and external energy.

  • I can tell you what guitar he is using, Its a Lowden O25C ,exactly the same as I have but without the black fingerguard. When I bought my Lowden 19 years ago I asked the shop assistant if there are any professional musicians who play them. He told me to check out Pierre Bensusan. Of course there are so many guitarists that are still using them or have used them, but to me Pierre Bensusan is the best.

I reckon that guitar he is using is about 25 years old

  • Anyone know what guitar he's playing here? It appears to be a jumbo body steel string that he's fitted with classical strings.Never seen anyone do this before...very creative. I'm going to see him this Sat eve in Denver at Swallow Hill. I don't put too much stock in ranking guitar players, but fwiw, Frets Magazine has rated Pierre the 3rd best guitar player in the world. I'm siked to be seeing him in such a small venue this weekend.

  • Such a nice guy; and very humble. Step aside Andres Segovia ;o)

  • any1 here who know what part 0:30-0:34 is called in music theory? like best lick i've ever heard.

  • This song is definately amazing, but if you've ever seen Rylynn performed live, well theres nothing quite like it...

  • I would give both of my balls and my sense of logic for pierres left hand and half of his emotion.

  • @nathanialbeltz I think it's trainable to get such accuracy in the left hand. With loads of practice. At least I'm hoping so for my own sake ;D

  • What's with the fucking audience. I'd scream, cry and whistle and yet I'm a man.

  • btw, i love how he uses Ableton Live as his effects processor for live shows. My favorite DAW as well <3 love you pierre

  • ive seen pierre 6 times, which is about infinitely times not enough

  • Loving L'Alchemiste these days - he's such a complete player & it really shines in that song. Anyone know if there's a high quality recording of it somewhere?

  • Amazing?

  • This is extremely outstanding.

  • the title is very ironic!

  • Pierre makes me feel so small as a guitarist.

  • genius.

  • grandiose ....

  • jesus

  • there is no wrong or right, just what you are able to process and what you are not able to process. Get over your sheet music and regimented OCD. Music is free. man tries to put it on paper and sometimes it's just not able to be put into a tidy box

pierre is a genius, how it goes down on paper technically - who cares.

  • I know that some will want to through rocks at me BUT, when someone preforms at his level than I expect more. It was a bit sloppy in spots.

  • That was great! I just wish the sound quality was a bit better:(

  • There is something seriously "wrong" with Bensusan and his sense of timing and harmonic structure. I'm going to attempt some of his stuff, and when I get off that bus I wonder if I'll ever be able to find my way home. Or if I make it back to normal land will things be slightly different colored? A lot of great fingerstyle guitars I enjoy, but often know where they are headed in a song. Is it just me or do you guys find yourself saying "what the...?!" when he takes off in a odd direction?

  • @tuikun02 here is a guy that is keeping a real strong grove but moves in some odd timing too. Antoine Dufour - Scratch. It's really not even about guitar anymore when it comes to these guys... it 's music... the sounds/ the not sounds. So so many great players out there. where is are the masses on this? the general public music is hollow. It scares me that more people are not into this stuff. To each his own, but I just think the lack of appreciation of this is scary. music no word? what?

  • @tuikun02 Ah...just read your second comment....seems you are coming around...:-)

  • @tuikun02 The title itself can tell you something about the song. Its a Chinese / Taoist term about the freedom of being...effortlessly...he is not confined here to melody or time signature. That it does not appeal to you is understandable; but there is certainly nothing "wrong" with his playing. It is art. Just as there is nothing wrong with you for not enjoying it--that is not something over which you have control. But it may appeal to you in time if you are able to just let it be...

  • @Chiangmai007 you greatly misunderstand me. I find it very appealing. But if you prefer to believe otherwise and that helps you; please continue to do so.

  • @tuikun02 Yea, I felt I may have misunderstood you upon reading your second comment. Hence, my follow up point. It appears I read more into your use of "...there is something seriously 'wrong' with Bensusan" than you meant to convey... Its interesting how, aside from the sheer musicality of his arrangements, how intellectually stimulating his pieces can be.

  • @Chiangmai007 I have the sheets to Nefertari, and Hymn 11. I'm not sure which one to do first. But I'll likely add E Funk by Al Petteway as it has more "wow factor" for the non-musician and general listener. I'm interested in your thought (likes dislikes). Which do you like better Bensusans cover of Si Bhig, Si Mohr, or the one by Ed Gerhard? It is Gerhard for me all the way. Gerhards cover of The Water is Wide is tops for me too. I have not heard better covers by any others on those.

  • @tuikun02 Hey~sorry for the delay...and, gosh, I checked out your channel--what a gift you have going! I will have to look into the tunes you referenced and check out the difference. I love both players....The last few years haven't given me the chance to get too deep into listening, playing and studying the way I wish I could....I will send you a message.

  • this song makes me horny

  • this is the apogee of guitar

  • This song rocks my lonely world

  • Il a bien évolué avec le temps, ça fait toujours autant de bien de l'entendre

  • I too am looking for some interesting DADGAD tunes.

  • god i wish i could navigate the guitar like that. Hey does anyone know any sweet dadgad tunes ?? (this song is a little outta my range, so far i can only play amazing grace and my own slop improv)

  • @pentacleofvenus Try some of Al Petteway's tunes in dadgad. Pretty accessible and not mountain to climb like most of Pierre's tunes are

  • "Wu Wei" means natural action - as planets revolve around the sun, they "do" this revolving, but without "doing" it; or as trees grow, they "do", but without "doing". This song flows natrally.

  • @OnkelOtto7 @namesfrantic

thank you for your comments. In my mind, effortless doing meant effortless playing. A technically difficult piece indeed. Still, wuwei can also mean a purposeless "doing" by natural action as you said. Then we will let this music flow.

  • It's clear that Wu Wei concept is not applicable to this piece and its composer has a lot sense of humor to give such a title.

  • @haikusa wuweie is the idea of creating by allowing to happen. I'd say he's pretty right on.

  • that's definitely my impression, this is far too complicated to be any example of a piece that "flows with doing"

  • this may suprise you but this song is quite a difficult song to play

  • hahaha...

  • @J0sA1Ac

Wu Wei, a Taoism concept, means "without action" and is often included in the paradox "action without action" or "effortless doing".

  • He's shaking and his contracting and I'm surprised he could even play at all.

    It's AWESOME

  • what does wu wei mean?

    issit chinese? irish dialect?

  • Ah, I hadn't heard him for so long, what a nice breath of air!

  • sex

  • now that I've got your attention, watch this video again

  • Master.

  • The guy below is right. This is literally blinding.

  • Thank you, Pierre, once again, for creating a most magical music experience for us to enjoy. Your gifts and your work are beyond measure.

  • Amazing!

  • this guy's playing robbed me of the ability to see.

  • Prenez des lessons...

  • c clair..lol

  • wow.

  • one of the finest players around.thank the gods for the guitar!

  • One of the authorities on DADGAD in the world today. BRAVO Sir!!!

  • I forget how utterly brilliant this guy is. I'm reminded again.

  • ¡Estupendo!

    Stupendous!

  • Tu es un très bon Pierre Bensusan

  • Thank you.

  • I have just woke up from this dream....took a couple of weeks!

Thanks for your show in Putney, Pierre!

    Amazing! and...come back soon!

    Best wishes!

  • Did anyone else notice that the first few notes is a harmonic series (disregarding deviation from equal temperament for obvious reasons)?

  • I'd have to call this the most beautiful song ever. I think it even beats Rylynn.

  • Rylynn's still on top for me.

  • some women like to be on top

  • Agreed. Also, Rylynn is playable. Wu Wei is impossible.

  • @stonefreeJMH . i think its a song with different style from Rylynn . B UT both songs are GREAT !

  • @stonefreeJMH its tough to beat rylynn for me... this is pretty but honestly i think "so long michael" beats both rylynn and this.

  • @stonefreeJMH :) i discovered it today and i have the same feeling..you should check out also Justin Kings August train and also check out maneli jamal;)

  • @stonefreeJMH i think it's pretty obvious that Rylynn is laughable compared to ANY Bensusan's pieces (with all respect to Andy McKee) ;-)

  • i could listen to this a million times and still get chills. very soothing.

  • um...you really are dumb

  • very nice

  • Is there any chance of obtaining an mp3 version of a version of Wu Wei somewhere?

    This is brilliant.

  • I looked at Amazon and iTunes but didn't see the mp3. Sorry.

  • IMO, this is actually better than the studio version anyway. The original has an overdubbed lead guitar a little ways in, and some vocal accents. Still good, but this one is amazing.

  • i have an mp3 of the studio version. send me your email if ya want it.

  • Wu wei ... che meraviglia averlo incontrato ...

    come questa canzone : sublime!

    Grazie di averla condivisa

    Luigi
