Well, if Aretha Franklin can sing Nessun Dorma, there is no reason why Mouskouri should not have a go at Casta Diva. I was prepared to hate this, but despite a rather thin and anticlimatic ending, it is generally heart-felt, sweet and pleasing.
Sort of like a James Last's version of Ave Verum Corpus, it's close enough to the original to recognise, but that's about it. I'd have a go at this in a karaoke bar on Saturday night after 6 glasses of pinot noir. Um, no, maybe 7.

Callas' version is the "Golden Standard". At least Nana had the courage to say she was unable to sing the original. Although I LOVE Nanas' voice I believe some things should be left untouched.
