@richsmif Thank you my friend, I compared both cars, and I prefer S40 , is more aerodynamic, now Im thinking bout changing it for a c70 , or a Mazda Miata or toyota MR2
@ros6666 Quite easy, I tapped into the rear speaker with a line out adapter. I powered the sub from the main battery through the car. As the audio is fibre optic, its difficult to tap into it and this was the only way i could do as the person who bought the car did not opt for a sub. IF they had i could of taken those outputs and improved them. I must admit the line out is not my prefered choice but it does work rather well. Better than nothing anyway.
Funny music choice. My advice is make your car look good to you and stop there. Not much you can do with a diesel. Thats why I got the 2.5L turbo. Im really into cars and I wanted a unique car i could tune. So far I have K&N intake, high flow exhaust, tune by upsolute at 15 pounds on turbo. Im making just over 300hp with plans for 400whp. When im done ill have spent close to $10,000.
@werewolf666beast Test drive a T5 model and see what you think. I'd personally look for one with the dynamic body kit you see on the S40 in this video, as well as one with leather interior. I would not recommend this car unless you can find one with all the top-of-the-line features. I have the 2005 2.4i base model in red, and while I have come to like it, it's still wanting in everything from power to a quality interior that one would expect from a car like this.
@werewolf666beast I've personally never driven a 2005-2006 Audi but I can guarantee you that you would get more for the same amount of money if you chose that over a base-model S40.
@minusss666 Yeah I have no doubt that a 2.0 diesel on this car is "french shite," but the 2.5i T5 engine which puts out 227 hp in the new s40 is the exact opposite. As for the space inside the S40, I can honestly say that for a "compact sedan," it does actually have a good amount of space when you take into consideration the massive trunk and room to comfortably fit 4 average sized people into.
@minusss666 But I would agree with you about one thing: the interior materials do seem a bit cheap for something you're paying around 27K for, considering you could buy a brand new Audi A4 for that and get more quality materials. I probably wouldn't recommend this car either, unless you're willing to dish out 32K+ for the loaded 2010 r-design and pass up something like an Audi or BMW. And I personally think it would be worth it, since I find the S40 much more attractive than either of those.
If you do any more modifications I suggest you get heico body parts, they are the only ones that don't make the car look cheap. (To me) Nice rims though. I one time saw those rims on a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T. It looks better on this though.
Did it have a factory sub before you upgraded to the Vibe? I want to add a sub, I've got the high performance sound system. I've heard you have to get the head unit reflashed by a dealer to control a sub and then you can add one which is controlled from the head unit. Is that what you did?
they are 215/45/18's they are bald now so changing them for a new set. i found mobile tyre fitting services from the internet about 30% cheaper than any shop! £400 v £600!!
that is factory spoiler, so is the skirts, so are the alloys. All i ever did was tint the windows, lower it and upgraded the sub to VIBE kit - sounds awesome. Im abit of audiophile, and this is the first car i've felt a need to change anything on the audio other than the sub.
ahh.. i wished the 2.4i came with spoilers. i believe 2009 2.4s don't even have spoilers as options. considering getting one of those lip spoilers from ebay that just stick on. its amazing how just that small bit can make the car look more sporty. i don't wanna get a real spoiler fitted just yet, don't want to void any warranty yet.
Nope, great car. My 3rd Volvo now and the misses is getting a C30. The only niggle i have is 6 speed gearbox it can be too easy to push into reverse instead of 1st. Older volvos had a slider to go into reverse, this just pushes abit further. Reserve has gone from the usual place because its 6th gear. Car does beep when it goes into reverse but if your in a rush, and press too hard. Only niggle really.
True. But just imagine how your car will go with f. ex the kcr. It will become a rocket, lol. I have the t5 but it lacks the kind of torque you have plus it´s drinks a lot more than yours. I am already thinking of getting the 2.0 d.
Really? I would of the T5 would of had more torque than mine. I've got my heart set on a C70 next, set of 20" and tinted windows and that will be sex on wheels! :) (just cost init!)
Sound good that t5. Chipping that one would be something eyh?! Well I will propable get the ppc and sportsexhaust and then see if I could live with that car. I build volvos everyday so I´m kind of getting a bit fed up seeing volvos everywhere. But they´re fine cars indeed, though.
yes. When I purchased the original subwoofer i figure it out I was required to purchase additional fiber cables and the additional power module for the volvo sub. The volvo sub is 8 inch only but you don't see it in the trunk... very nice... good work anyway! congrats! volvo have a nice nice audio!
yes, you need to use a high-low converted from the rear speaker and amplify the signal and finished with a subwoofer. I have the original from volvo, is more expensive but the goods are you can control the subwoofer with the regular console controls and you don'w waste space in the trunk
Whered you get your skirt and lip?

I'm disappointed with this car. It only looks good, everything else about it just sucks.
Not much space inside, too loud, the engine is french shite. I don't recommend this car to anybody.

@allenspedface32 No problem, and I do remember seeing a replica of these somewhere online so you should be able to get them a lot cheaper.

Those are 18" Volvo rims known as 'Medea' - one of the best-looking rims that Volvo has made up to date, but also one of the most expensive.

It looks nice, just don't go over the top with the mods. It's very easy to do too much and in my opinion it makes it look cheap with too many mods.
Nice car though, I'm after an S40 now.

I have problems with suspension and tires but because mex streets are crap....
Brakes regular problems but because I always use the car as a rocket.
I replaced my car battery too... just two years... bad luck... and lot of electronics on this kind of cars make this change a regular one...
Other than that, a good and reliable car...
cubanomx2 3 years ago
Yeah i agree but aftermarket sub is cheaper than factory standard, and it adds that "custom" feel.

No, i added my VIBE aftermarket one.
Got a VIBE MONOBOX 3 with a VIBE 10" CBR SUB.
Its very hard because the volvo has an optical fibre sound system, but i found out something very interesting.
