I can't believe I supported the Lib Dems back in May. I, and many of my friends who cheered when Clegg was made deputy prime minister, feel like such idiots now (mostly because we're all students and, naturally, are bitterly opposed to the rise in tuition fees). I think, when the next election rolls around, Labour may just get my vote.
Arguably the best broadcast of the campaign. It certainly filled my mind with hope for Labour's chances, regardless of how bleak it could've been. At this point it looked as if we really could do it, but I do believe that the debates changed things slightly, for better or worse
Gordon Brown who is the son of a church minister.David Cameron the son of a stockbroker And Nick Clegg the son of banker. Which of the three have the wellbeing of the less well off majority in his heart? Only Gordon Brown. GOD BLESS HIM! The new caring Labour leader will blow these two new leaders at the helm trying to steer in two different directions clean out of the water!
We have seen the biggest bank (wealth) robbery in history. A blatant inside job perpetrated by the bankers and their ultra wealthy backers resulting in the credit crunch and hoarding of vast wealth as seen in the World Wealth Reports 2007 and 2009. The bankers and Ultra wealthy have the son of a stockbroker and son of a banker at the helm in number 10 Downing street. Scared? We should be!
I feel like an idiot for voting Lib dem. I should've known labour needed every vote they could get to keep that Etonian shit 'King Cameron' out of Number 10. When Brown said he would step down in September I felt like crying. We either judge him for his funny eye and lack of charisma or let him get on with it. His lack of charisma, topped with the "bigot' comment aided our judgements.
Before you vote ask yourselves where is all the money? A vast amount of wealth is being hoarded by the ultra wealthy as the World Wealth report 2009 shows. Will David Cameron funded by a billionaire redistribute a fair amount of this wealth? Not in 33,000,000,000,000(thirty three thousand billion) years! Inexperienced Nick Clegg ? No! Only Gordon Brown Has the guts and Personality to sort out the bankers and billionaires.
I've looked at the Political Compass website and also where Labour is placed, not good. The Conservatives are of course to the right as well. I wish more people would come to understand this paradigm.
I love it how on Lib Dems videos the comments are "Real change and someone we can trust", on Labour Videos the comments are "Keep on the road to recovery and that Labour care", while on mostly all the Tory videos the comments are just "Who are you kidding David and STOP ATTACKING OTHER PARTIES YOU TWATS"
I'm a LibDem supporter but if we have to have another Labservative goverment I'd take Labour anyday, the Tories are rich loving snobs from what my grandparents and parents have told me, many a time in fact.
We have all been in a real world game of Monopoly Where the banker and the rich few have been manipulating the rules grossly in their favour even though they have the huge advantage of as the saying goes,"Money Makes Money".They create a boom.Hoover up vast wealth as the world wealth report 2009 attests to and leave the great majority of the less well off to pick up the pieces. We have found the smoking gun in the world wealth report 2009!
The Labour Party cares for the many, the conservatives for the people with lots of money! The only good vote is for labour on may 6th! God help the NHS if the tories get hold of it!
Brilliant broadcast! VOTE LABOUR! Dont let the consveratives destroy my home country Northern Ireland again or take from the poor to give to the rich.
All British politics aside, I wish the political ads in the US were like this instead of 'Lets see who can lie, fear monger, slander and shove in more disturbing images than the other'.
@Catholicism777 excuse me? the conservative broadcast didn't seem like an act? all that bullshit about "real people" and implying that "ooh, i've got empathy and i work in a charity shop! voting tory must be okay then!"
David Cameron would not have saved the banks he said it was their problem and ok a few people would have lost their savings but the country would not be in debt as it is now. They could save again and the banks would not be making the obscene profit they are making now on the backs of the tax payer. We believe you should look after yourselves. No more Child Trust funds for children to save for their future education. No more Tax Credits or hand outs.
@SuperToryboy precisely because Cameron would not have saved the banks is why he is not fit to direct this country out of the economic downturn. Clearly he does not understand economics sufficiently to see that if one bank had been allowed to fail, others would have gone too as lending between them would have ceased completely. The "few", by which you mean hundreds of thousands, would have lost EVERTHING leading to lack of demand, deflation and economic depression. The world followed Brown!
Sean Pertwee is an appealling actor. He's definitely aged a lot in the past 10 years, but he's still a cutie. He's effective in this ad, but I don't think the Labour Party is going to win a fourth general election. After 13 years in power (with Mr. Brown as head of the Exchequer for the first 10 of those year) it's more likely Labour will lose this round to the Conservative Party rather than keep power for a total of 18 years.
Tories flat out aren't an option. If Labor keep taking away basic human rights they're not either, but that mostly happened under Blair, I don't forsee any way to tell if that's changed or not.

they brought in some good things like minimum wage and ISAs but they also turned this country into a land where people are afraid to say/do what they like due to their political correctness laws (eg towns not refering to christmas as christmas anymore) and founded the "nanny state" we've grown so accustomed to (excessive number of speed cameras, highest number of cctv cameras in the world). Don't mention the war(s)!

It does not matter who the actor is or Dr Who's voice at the end, the message is the same, we cannot let this great country go back to the dark days of Tory rule. Any former Labour supporters who are not voting for them this time for what ever reason you have to give Labour your vote or The Tories will be back in again.Vote Labour on May 6th.
Very awe inspiring. Lets do what we as the Labour Party do badly; PROMOTION. Post this on facebook, twitter, myspace whatever. Every Labour supporter should help the party. It WILL make a difference. Get out there and get campaigning. What's more join the party. Its just £1 for under 20s. This nation deserves A Future Fair For All!
Great video. Please god the Tories don't get in ... I don't trust Cameron as far as I can throw him ... once a privileged Eton Tory toff always a privileged Eton Tory toff .. and massive cuts is not the answer, as was proved last time under the Tories ...
I'm 24 so have lived half my life under labour and half under the tories. I really can't understand why anyone but the very rich would want to go back to a conservative government. Especially of my generation, because we've benefited from so much...things like EMA at college, the minimum wage in our first jobs, ISAs to start saving and now SureStart. I really hope this ad convinces people not to throw away all the progress of the last 13 years.
@actonhero lol - if you're 24, then labor came to power when you were 11/12 years old... your recollection of the conservatives would be barely meaningful (and the memories you havewould consist mainly of the last few years - which were undoubtedly their worst). Truth is, they all seem to decline the longer they're in office. You need to turf out the incumbents every now and then - even if it's just for one term.
@actonhero I agree with u totally Labour has improved our livies for the better with newer hospitals, ISAs and better schools. Torries will just tax the poor and make live better for the rich. Vote Labour on May 6th
@actonhero i'm a little older that you at 33 but I know exactly what you are talking about. Thatcher ripped our country to pieces and gave the spoils to the rich on a silver platter. It's going to take a long time to get this country back in our hands and we may have to take the rough with the smooth but we have much better chance of getting there if we stand behind labour. Maybe Gordon Brown isn't the glamorous figurehead that Blair was but that's more in tune with what Labour is all about.
Surely you can't be serious to think that even at 12 you would have any real concept of what 'living under a conservative government' was like, let alone the years before that? You are forgetting that Labour are the ones who took away student grants and brought in tutition fees. Not to mention abolishing the asisted place scheme.
@jonjamin I grew up in the kind of society a tory gov creates. I have an English degree now but didn't learn to read until I was 8! Where was my literacy hour? Sure, I wasn't for tuition fees but I think universities can support more students now. I obviously don't think they've created a utopia and I obviously didn't mean for my comment to be an exhaustive list of their achievements but I do think they've done a great deal of good. I hope we don't take it for granted enough to throw it away
@actonhero Cameron is emmulating Obama's campaign slogans, however Obama is the most left-wing President America has had for over half a century. It signifies one thing, the Conservatives still have no respect for the intelligence of the people. They think we will treat this election like the x-factor, that we will be swayed with glitz and tacky tabloid propaganda. Rather than have the ability to look at the facts and judge for ourselves. If Labour are Nannys, Torys are wicked stepmothers.
Hmmm wondering who was it paved the last 10 years of that road that lays behind us... Who was it who was it... Damn... I it's on the tip of my tongue...
What a wonderful PPB... "The other guys are crapper than us..."
"...only Labour will keep us on the road to recovery."
Why do we need recovery exactly...
(for the record, I have not, and will not affiliate myself to one particular party. I just don't like 'messages' that are: "We might be crap, but those guys are worse.")
@Joniboy98 I agree..The tories as far as i am concerned should now be known as THE MONSTER RAVING BLUE PARTY... A set of UBER RICH KIDS, who want us to fill the pockets of their mates!!!!!!! As you said they want to RUIN this country not RUN it......I remember what Thatcher did and i dont wish that on any one...
My respect for David Tennant and Pertwee has gone down after this! Another term of Labour? No thanks, not unless we want to see this country become a dive.
My god, what a total con, this is the most delusional ad i have yet seen, it wasn't Brown fault it was the worlds fault! Well he was the man who claimed and end to Boom and Bust. The believe that someone who got us into this mess, should then because of it have the skills to get it out of us, is abit like an addicted gambler asking for money to cover his losses, so he can win it all back, its not logical!
Please just don't talk about things before you understand them fully - go study economics.
The idea that Brown could have caused a global recession in over 150 countries is ridiculous and hilliarious...... (mind you the deregulating od markets, which the tories traditionaly propose did contribute to it).
Unemployment is about half a million lower than predicted at the start... that could be your job... now man up and give them some credit.
@thomasthepom2 The boom and busts of the past were about inflation, this was a global banking crisis, something completely different. It was caused by banks in the U.S. selling...lies basically. When Brown was chancellor he was criticised for being too strict and told to loosen up regulations even more, continuing the deregulation begun by the conservatives. If we'd have listen to the tories we'd be in an even worse position by now. Listen to the video!
@thomasthepom2 What? So vote for the tories? Our economy was soo un-stable under thatcher and major (eg. black wednesday, homes being repossessed), and it made Britain a laughing stock! I dont like Gordon Brown, but at least hes kept unemployment as low as possible. Remember, this is a global financial crises, not nation like in 80s-90s!
why is it all about the economy? Granted it is a massive issue and my family is certainly feeling the effects, but what about a focus on other things like civil liberties, crime, immigration, energy policy, international relations, defence etc.
How about a party political broadcast explaining what you are going to do about the future and not a 'those other parties are rubbish so you cant vote them in' one.
Any chance of some positive ideas and giving us an idea about you will do?
Nice film, excellent script. I just do not believe the argument for re-electing the current government back in. I'm looking forward to all the other party election broadcasts over the coming weeks.....
Too terrified of Cameron to consider voting anything but Labour. Not to mention George Osborne, oh my word. Definitely not the time to change direction.
Quite a nice atmospheric video. If the Tories get in I think I'll need a long walk of the end of Beachy Head too. I certainly don't trust Cameron to manage our economic decline in future years.
I have to say, that was impressive! Not sure who I will be voting for, but certainly not conservative. David Cameron has an uncanny resemblance to my history teacher. I hate my history teacher!
Very good election broadcast, possibly a bit too light on policy, but certainly inspiring and dramatic, something good has come out of the Labour advert think tank at last
After 17 years of Thatcher and Major I hated the divide and conquer policies of the tories, and I would'nt vote for them if you paid me, but this reminded me of a hovis ad.........minus the cloth cap and wippet.
It was never going to be easy, but today in the midst of the biggest economic crisis in many years, we've kept people in their homes, in their jobs, supplemented their household income with Tax Credits, introduced the National Minimum and continued to provide a world leading NHS free at the point of delivery. 2010 May 6th, we have the chance to make this future even fairer for all of us.
And here we are a year later and Labour was right.
I have always been a Labour supporter and will go to my grave that way!

I really hope this ad convinces people not to throw away all the progress of the last 13 years.
actonhero 1 year ago 59
@actonhero lol - if you're 24, then labor came to power when you were 11/12 years old... your recollection of the conservatives would be barely meaningful (and the memories you havewould consist mainly of the last few years - which were undoubtedly their worst). Truth is, they all seem to decline the longer they're in office. You need to turf out the incumbents every now and then - even if it's just for one term.
fleeced 1 year ago
@actonhero I agree with u totally Labour has improved our livies for the better with newer hospitals, ISAs and better schools. Torries will just tax the poor and make live better for the rich. Vote Labour on May 6th
techfan42 1 year ago 32
@actonhero Spot on
flynchy007 1 year ago
@actonhero i'm a little older that you at 33 but I know exactly what you are talking about. Thatcher ripped our country to pieces and gave the spoils to the rich on a silver platter. It's going to take a long time to get this country back in our hands and we may have to take the rough with the smooth but we have much better chance of getting there if we stand behind labour. Maybe Gordon Brown isn't the glamorous figurehead that Blair was but that's more in tune with what Labour is all about.
cheyaura 1 year ago
@actonhero
Surely you can't be serious to think that even at 12 you would have any real concept of what 'living under a conservative government' was like, let alone the years before that? You are forgetting that Labour are the ones who took away student grants and brought in tutition fees. Not to mention abolishing the asisted place scheme.
jonjamin 1 year ago
@jonjamin Actually it was thatcher wh brought in the tuition fees and took away grants.
thegreatloy 1 year ago
@jonjamin I grew up in the kind of society a tory gov creates. I have an English degree now but didn't learn to read until I was 8! Where was my literacy hour? Sure, I wasn't for tuition fees but I think universities can support more students now. I obviously don't think they've created a utopia and I obviously didn't mean for my comment to be an exhaustive list of their achievements but I do think they've done a great deal of good. I hope we don't take it for granted enough to throw it away
actonhero 1 year ago

As you said they want to RUIN this country not RUN it......I remember what Thatcher did and i dont wish that on any one...

simple and true.
warrenoc 1 year ago
My god, what a total con, this is the most delusional ad i have yet seen, it wasn't Brown fault it was the worlds fault! Well he was the man who claimed and end to Boom and Bust. The believe that someone who got us into this mess, should then because of it have the skills to get it out of us, is abit like an addicted gambler asking for money to cover his losses, so he can win it all back, its not logical!
Cmon Britain we can do better!
thomasthepom2 1 year ago 4
@thomasthepom2
NeonTiger99 1 year ago
@thomasthepom2 The boom and busts of the past were about inflation, this was a global banking crisis, something completely different. It was caused by banks in the U.S. selling...lies basically. When Brown was chancellor he was criticised for being too strict and told to loosen up regulations even more, continuing the deregulation begun by the conservatives. If we'd have listen to the tories we'd be in an even worse position by now. Listen to the video!
actonhero 1 year ago
@thomasthepom2 What? So vote for the tories? Our economy was soo un-stable under thatcher and major (eg. black wednesday, homes being repossessed), and it made Britain a laughing stock! I dont like Gordon Brown, but at least hes kept unemployment as low as possible. Remember, this is a global financial crises, not nation like in 80s-90s!
David Cameron? NO THANKS!

why is it all about the economy? Granted it is a massive issue and my family is certainly feeling the effects, but what about a focus on other things like civil liberties, crime, immigration, energy policy, international relations, defence etc.
How about a party political broadcast explaining what you are going to do about the future and not a 'those other parties are rubbish so you cant vote them in' one.
Any chance of some positive ideas and giving us an idea about you will do?

It was never going to be easy, but today in the midst of the biggest economic crisis in many years, we've kept people in their homes, in their jobs, supplemented their household income with Tax Credits, introduced the National Minimum and continued to provide a world leading NHS free at the point of delivery. 2010 May 6th, we have the chance to make this future even fairer for all of us.
