  • Dude, can you please block that cockroach guy? He posts so many hurtful and infuriating comments on railroad equipment.

  • the steam locomotive is a good locomotive

  • Now, this one is for any railfan out there who may look at this video, so tell me if you agree or not. These giants of steam and steel that shake the ground as they roll past, from the 4-4-0's of the 1880's to the H-8 2-6-6-6, were the FINEST ENGINES EVER TO RIDE THE IRON RAILS IN THE USA. The TRUE AMERICAN does not destroy history, he PRESERVES it in working order for future generations, so they may see the history at work as it was when trains were the primary mode of transportation.

  • @Cockroach2008 NOW, THAT WOULD MEAN THE LOSS OF OUR FREEDOM, THE LOSS OF OUR ABILITY TO CHOOSE WHAT JOBS WE WORK AND THE CAREERS THAT WE CHOOSE, NOT COUNTING THE LOSS OF MANY OTHER FREEDOMS THAT OTHER COUNTRIES DO NOT HAVE. THE STEAM ENGINE BUILT THIS COUNTRY, FROM THE GLORY DAYS OF THE 1880's TO THE GILDED AGE IN THE 1920's, FROM THE EASTERN SEABOARD TO THE WEST COAST, THUNDERING GIANTS MORE RUGGED THAN A DIESEL, STRONGER THAN ANY AIRPLANE. 1 STEAM ENGINE CAN OUT-PERFORM TWO DIESELS.

  • @Fireheart528 The steam locomotive served it's purpose as a transportation tool. Now, more efficient, less polluting designs are doing the same work.

It is time to junk the steam locomotives & use them for military weapons targeting! Or remove the parts & get paid CASH with NO QUESTIONS ASKED for the gauges, headlight, whistles or bell.

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 ALSO, YOU FAIL TO NOTICE THAT WITHOUT RAILWAYS, THIS COUNTRY COULD NOT HAVE STOOD FIRM AGAINST JAPAN IN WWII WHILE FIGHTING AGAINTS GERMANY IN EUROPE. HAD WE NOT HAD RAILWAYS AND THE PIONEERING MEN WHO BUILT LOCOMOTIVES CAPABLE OF HAULING FREIGHT TRAINS THAT CARRIED THE CRUCIAL SUPPLIES< WE WOULD HAVE BEEN STEAMROLLERED IN WWII, THE COUNTRY BROKEN AND INAGURATED AS A JAPANESE STATE. EVEN WORSE, CHINA COULD ANNEX US BC OF THE MILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN DEBT THAT WE OWE THEM.

  • @Fireheart528 The railroad was a vital part & the steam locomotive was just one of the transportation tools. The railway is fine in my opinion. It is the equipment which needs to be scrapped when it comes end of life.

Besides, I have a scrap yard crew I need to pay every week. When we get the steam locomotive to scrap, it makes my day & pays their wages.

None of us care about the steam locomotive except cutting them up is known to be a great way to keep them employed for a while.

    Junk them!

  • That's a big whiste for a little tank engine.

  • @okdon Sounds perfect for Sierra Railroad #2 to me. Wonderful business to get into--wish I was already in it.

  • @okdon Sorry, Niles Canyon Railway #2. I goofed..........

  • That headlight makes a wonderful rifle target! These steam locomotives should have been cut apart for scrap iron 65 years ago! Now it is time to have them keep this appointment with the scrappers torch!

Just before destruction, it would be great if someone got on to the property & applied a beautiful urban graffiti paint job to them! Then remove the gauge sets, whistle, bell, headlights, number boards, extra lights, builder's plate & sold them for CASH at a flea market! NO QUESTIONS ASKED!

  • @Cockroach2008 Ok, now you've gone too far! A headlight used as a rifle target is TREASON!!!!!! How about we scrap YOU?? How about we show YOU what the flame of a scrapper's torch feels like?!? YOU ARE A COMMUNISTIC B**** WHO HAS NO REGARD FOR ANY HISTORY WHATSOEVER. ITS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO MADE THE SYSTEM WHAT IT IS TODAY. AMERICANS WHO DON"T LIKE AMERICAN HISTORY ARE TRAITORS AND USURPERS, CLEARLY NOT DESERVING THE TITLE OF "AMERICAN CITIZEN". THIS MACHINE BUILT OUR COUNTRY AND WILL NEVER DIE.

  • @Fireheart528 I don't care what you think! I still think a headlight of a steam locomotive would make a very nice rifle target! I made the system what it is today? That is interesting to me! You think corporations should retain financial loosing equipment because they are historical? Since you think I don't deserve citizenship, what about the corporation who decides this equipment is no longer an asset. What? Preserve it just for you?

Wake up! Steam locomotives are over! Time to shoot at them!

  • @Cockroach2008 Listen here you miserable little b****, I've put up with enough shit from you. You think that you alone made the system what it is today? Harr harr, not just you, but you and the rest of your little communistic pals who want to destroy progress for progress' sake. This is America, and if you are allied with the people who are trying to tear this country apart, then get the f*** out and go somewhere else, like Russia. They can use commies over there.

  • @Fireheart528 How is running a scrap metal yard in a free enterprise system communistic? Russia is becoming democratic! It appears you may have missed some education about governments or slept through the classes.

The steam locomotive is a looser! Even the railroad gave them up for their mainstay of business! Not an hour too soon!

They are junk, should be graffiti painted, scrapped, junked out, cut apart & melted down into new materials for new products.

    Junk the steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 And another thing: never call a steam engine a "money loosing piece of equipment" again. Preserve it just for me? Harr harr! You fail to see beyond your own mindset, and realize that the children born nowadays have little to no experience of a steam engine. The dedicated people that keep these relics alive for the next generation so they can experience what a steam engine is like don't deserve to be bashed with your lies about your scrapyard.

  • @Fireheart528 The steam locomotive is a "money looser". I don't preserve anything for anybody. I make a living cutting down articles made of metal for a living. I also pay my crews for their living.

Children born in these times need no acquaintance with a steam locomotive other than what is found between the pages of a history book, photograph or perhaps a film. Otherwise, they are junk!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 If the corporation decides that they want to retire an engine to static display, thats fine. But there should be as many as possible kept running for future generations. The best steam engine ever built was built under the direction of Andre Chapelon in France, and it was broken up just bc of some heartless people in the company who had, like you, no regard for history and no wish to preserve it..

  • @Fireheart528 No steam locomotive should be preserved in operational or static condition.

All steam locomotives should be cut apart & melted into materials for new products.

I have no desire to preserve history in it's tangible form. History books, photographs, paintings, renderings, sketches & film is plenty.

I have a desire to earn money cutting apart scrap metal & paying my crews in the yard!

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 Now, I believe that I can represent the whole youtube community here in this particular comment. We do not want you here. You have generally made a nuisance of yourself, spreading hateful comments on any video you find that has mention of steam engines. We do not want trolls here, and you are hereby asked to refrain from commenting on any more videos that feature steam engines.

  • @Fireheart528 You only believe you represent the whole of YouTube. You have no facts to offer. Not surprised.

I have said nothing hateful to any one. I am only expressing my comment as YouTube invites. I don't have to express a comment that "everyone will like". I have made no personal attacks.

Your request is hereby acknowledged, considered & rejected.

    I am here to stay.

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 Take a good look at my username. It says Fireheart, doesn't it? Well, that describes the passion that burns deep inside me or any person. Anger+Emotion=Passion. It's seperate from the other type of passion, which is a bit complicated to describe. Now, when someone tells you that 'their blood runs hot' when they see something, it defines an intense passion for that interest. They don't give up on that interest for anything.

  • @Fireheart528 I see your screen name. Good for you!

I also have a passion for cutting apart articles of metal for scrap & paying my crews. It is money. It is income. It is a living. It pays my bills. It makes my crews happy to be working. That is my passion.

I am not going to permit the nostalgia of a steam locomotive stand in my way. If I get another one, it is going to end up in the induction or blast furnace of a foundry.

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • @Cockroach2008 Hopefully, this will help you start thinking about others instead of just yourself. Maybe looking back at all the comments on the videos you hate would be a good place to start; it might just show you why people don't like you. Maybe it will motivate you to change the way you comment and stop trolling on Youtube. Why not give it a try, and take a look from another person's viewpoint when you re-read all those comments.

  • @Fireheart528 I have started thinking about others than just myself. I am thinking of the good crewmen & crewwomen who work in my scrap yard, earning their way everyday & providing for their families.

I really don't care who likes/dislikes me. I am just expressing my opinion as YouTube invites. You don't have to like my comments. I never asked you to do so.

I just look at all that scrap iron & know how much money my business & crews could make.

Junk all the remaining steam locomotives!

  • To bad cockroach cant see the beauty in these amazing machines.

  • Is cockroach 2008 annoying you? BLOCK HIM! great video !

  • i dont get why people want to get rid of these things i mean there isa great deal of interesting history on these i mean all these high powered super speeding diesel trains didnt just pop out of nowhere these WERE the diesel trains of the old days

  • looool :D

  • The now diesel operated Quincy RR still exists today in the Feather River Canyon, connecting the Quincy log industry to the UP mainline. My friend and I spoke to the Quincy RR maintenance crew this spring right at the spot where the Quincy RR connects to the mainline high up in the hills. It's good to see the Quincy RR Co 2-6-2 is still running a few miles west and in such a good shape too! Keep up the good work, we'll be back soon to visit Niles Canyon.

  • Is that a six Chime???

  • @darcypetersen1 Yes, but 2472's whistle is better than this crappy one.

  • Does anyone have videos of the #2 when she had the Western Pacific 5 chime whistle?

  • Comment removed

  • good job for the niles canyon to save these peices of railroad history for poeple to see.cockroach can SUCK IT.long live steam..

  • OH my Lord, that's not 2472's whistle, is it?!

  • No, this is a PLA owned whistle, an SP 6 chime.

  • 2472 has an SP 6 chime too.

  • This I know. I like the PLA's better, sounds different than the 72's

  • I liked the WP 5 chime the #2 had better, and 2472's is the best.

  • @Steam2k 2472's whistle sounds better.

  • I'm glad you think that. Your opinion will be given the consideration it deserves.

  • Comment removed

  • Your just jelous cause we at GGRM have the bigger engine.

  • @ThomasRivette

Nope. We have the 2467, the better engine.

  • @Steam2k

Oh yeah right, 2467 dosen't even run anymore thanks to you guys's carelessness about her damaged bearings.

    LONG LIVE 2467!!!!

  • did 2467 doublehead with 4449? NO

did 2467 meet 844 during the Western Heritage Tour? NO

does 2467 have white tire rims? NO

was 2467 in restored service longer? NO

does 2467 receive matenince care? NO

Face it, 2472 is 10 times better than 2467.

  • HEY STEAM2K, YOU BLOCKED ME YOU FUCKIN PUSSY!! You better unblock me, or I'll report your account.

  • Hey, Cockraoch2008; is that coz your little appendage is actually a roach, and about as big? Anyway, we need a moving target for a proton beam; wanna volunteer?

  • mabhekaphansi: On the proton beam. I'm with ya dude.

  • LOL! Thanks.

  • She is a strong little beauti.

    Try : treinbaan 019

  • Great locamotive... "Little Engine that Could"

  • No worries, Cockroach, the scrapper will get to work just as soon as he's done with your mom. Just one of her hearty Portuguese breakfasts and a puff of a Sneaky Castro and he'll be on the torch...and off your mom.

  • Shut Up You Pile Of Compost!!

  • Thank you for the flattering compliment. I am deeply honored!

I am delighted to know you agree that the steam locomotive has come to the end of the line and should be cut up and melted.

The materials can be used to make new products. Anchor chain, manhole covers and trench plate are great uses for this old junk iron.

Wreck and junk the steam locomotive.

Wrap about 10' of 2 inch link chain around a single rail of the trackway on a blind curve and watch the rapidly approaching junker wreck.

  • No, YOU are the one who should be cut up and recycled.

  • Okay how about I cut you up and put you in my freezer?

You should taste like shit but hey...

I'd be doing the world a favor.

  • You are worthless, do the world a favor and kill yourself.

  • That is a matter of opinion.

It is a known fact, the steam locomotive is no longer a cost efficient of means of transportation. They only serve now as amusements for so few.

As the non-profit groups loose members, contributors, donors & volunteers, they are being forced into bankruptcy. Without money, the junk cannot be preserved.

Then the junk will be towed off to the scrap yard to be junked, scrapped, cut apart & sent to the foundry for melting!

A happy day that will be! Junk the NCRY!

  • That is why people must donate and contribute to keep these Giants running.

    Save all remaining steam engines.

    Quincy #2 Rocks!!

    Cockroach2008 Sucks

  • Then cut apart and melt all of your precious diesel locomotives Cockroach. They're metal. The only thing that actually costs more with the steam locomotives is the maintenance. But think. What's the cost of a steam engine that doesn't even operate regularly compared to running HUNDREDS of diesel engines daily? Money hungry scrapper... go cry to UP or other railroads to scrap them and see how long it takes for security to get you out. Who's with me on this?!

  • Go ahead and cut up the most powerful train engines on the planet. And if this is just for your fun, good luck. Here's my suggestion to you: Hang yourself, stab yourself and run to mommy telling you the bad guys did it, or cry to Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, N&W, Niles Canyon, and whoever else owns any steam engine. But chances of you getting Union Pacific or Southern Pacific to cut up 844, 3985, or 4449 are pretty low. Go live with Saddam Hessein. You'll get what you want. (I know he's dead

  • Thank you for the good wishes!

All of the mentioned clunkers are easily accessible to remove parts & sell them with no questions asked. They are such easy large targets.

Bells, whistles, gauges, controls, headlights, marker lights, number boards, builders plate, herald, linkages, tools, hoses & so many other quickly removable parts. Carted off in the night to be sold in a flea market 100's of miles away!

It is just such a pleasure to see another steam locomotive wrecked & junked!

  • Good luck. I hope you don't mind stealing the parts and having the police and the railroads after you.

  • Worse financial shape, they can deal with it. You'd be helping them take stolen money from OTHER PEOPLE and then putting THEM in bad financial shape. Yes it *IS* a crime.

  • That is life! It happens!

If this gets it's parts stolen & sold off in far away places, it is just the way things are.

If they end up in bad financial shape, they may have to sell the "asset" to a scrap metal operator to dissolve all debts. That is where I can help out by purchasing the relic for it's scrap value, cut it apart & send it to the foundry for melt. Just helping them out!

It is not a crime to say to someone, "There is the bank. There is money inside!"

    Those parts will sell!

  • Dude, you gotta understand, without the steam engines our children and our grand children would never know what railroading was like back then.

I bet your kids love trains and I bet you loved trains when you were a kid too.

  • Nay, Save the steam locomotives.

  • OK, I am sick off your conversations, SHUT UP ABOUT THESE JUNKERS! They're not junkers, they are what made trains, trains. And YOU must kill yourself!

  • Steam locomotives are more important to history than you will ever know!!! We'd all sooner kill you than scrap these precious pieces of history! Sierra railway No.3 is more famous than any of us! Its served its purpose here! If you really liked trains, you would love the steamers first!

  • I think everybody would rather see steam locomotives in action rather than in pictures. Who gives a Good God Damn about the environment?! At least enough to scrap an exciting piece of History! If you hate steam locomotives so much, then why don't you go stand in front of one while its highballing!

  • But in order to cut them apart and melt them, you would cause more damaged to the environment wouldn't you?

You don't what your talking about, volcanoes have caused more damage to the environment than man ever has, Wackos like you always take everything to the extreme, your only repeating what you heard, along with the other sheep who drank the kool aid. Try having an original thought if you can, I now it must hurt you.

  • Oh yes, the Religion of The All-Powerful Environment (a term never used before 1990, I might add).

Screw it. I'm sick of all the talk in every single quarter, from gov down to push-over suburban peon neighbors, as if we must all pay homage to the pagan Earth-god. I naturally conserve and I don't need anyone lecturing me about how holy and sacred it is, and I better do it or I'm evil.

  • @Cockroach2008 you know if probly runned a steam locomotive is more effecint and more evirmentally freindly than desil locomtives?

but since nobuddy ever runs one effectiontaly enough it does pollute

  • Cockroach, you idiot, don't you know that steam locos exaust heated water?!?!?!

  • Comment removed

  • ??? The fuel feeds a fire that heats the water. Oh, BTW, YOU HAVE NO SENSE OF HISTORY AT ALL!!!

  • Insignificant level of pollutants. There aren't many, so there is really no net gain stopping those few.

But then, burning wood or coal is really not that terrible, anyway.

But I will agree - the exhaust is partly the actual heating fuel. Not merely water.

  • @Cockroach2008

OOOOOO...MY OPINION!!! (And where is your science?)

Insignificant because there are so few - at least in this country. That's not opinion. Compared to how much is emitted by automobiles every day here, it's a pittance.

Go tell the Indians to junk theirs; I'm sure they have more per capita. Oh wait, they actually use them for serious purposes.

  • BTW, I guess you need to scrap ALL the existent historical pieces of every kind that still exist all over the world, because they're just a waste. It's not just old locos that are still being run never mind sitting idle.

  • As I stated, it's NOT JUST steam locos that still sit from ages ago.

  • STOP RIGHT THERE

  • @SierraRailway did cockroach2008 say scrap sierra railroad no. 3!!???!!!?? no friggin way! you tell him!

  • Dude your just plain stupid, and your post proves it. What black market exists for steam loco parts, since most steam locos were individual, not like a carb off a 74 Chevy.

    Fail......

  • NCRY going bankrupt ain't gonna happen.

  • No it wont. The Pacific Locomotive Association is one of the richest orginizations in the country and they'll be around long after your dead.

  • That was rather grim.

  • You know I'm taking to cockroach right?

  • Yeah, by you, environment freak!

  • oh hell yah man I love your comment back to him he has been insulting alot of steam engine sites oh well but man great comment LOL

  • You know you are starting to sound like Communist China in the 60's and 70's. Destroying "relics of the past" to make room for "progress". That's it! you must be part of the many communist movements i have been hearing about.

  • Yeah, somebody get McCarthy all up in here; let's blackball this pinko sumbitch! An obvious Obama supporter.

  • ,,Obama want's these old locomotives destroyed as well because they pollute to much and they represent the white man's dominant world which could offend latino and muslim immigrants !

  • @Cockroach2008 is their a reseason your spreading this"measage" to us??!! cause tell us this will not make us stop loveing the steam locomotive.

  • That whistle! I love it!

  • Its AWESOME! The main reason its so cool is because at the time these engines where running everyday Steam was the major power of the time!

  • UR FUNNY!! MSG me on M.S.N.

questioning your sexuality? check my profile out! msg me! lets talk! 5a

  • do people ever use steam engine trains for frieght use anymore?

  • in germany sometimes in year!

  • BEAUTIFUL. I LIKE

  • nice

  • there are two crossings

  • was that teh whistle used on 610

  • You'll have to extrapolate; the whole world isn't as foamniscient as you are. But no, probably not. It's an SP 6-chime of California origin.

  • that is a SP 6 chime definatlly and it sounds damn good

  • Wow, check out the big sounding whistle that little tug has! After years of seeing pics of this one in the train mags, never thought it would have such a whistle like that. Neato....

  • Sounds like wig-wags

  • yah listening to it I agree it does sound like wigwags hell I am suprised someone has not asked what a wigwag is yet LOL.. hell I own one in my collection of signals, I was enjoying that SP 6 chime to much to notice before

  • I love that engineer! He is obviously not whistel shy!
