So true. You can extend the "eat like crap" excuses backward to Halloween candy and forward to Valentine's Day and Easter, lol. There's ALWAYS a reason to eat like shit and be lazy. And like you I get tired of the NYR'ers. You see them loading up the gym and then by Feb they're gone again. The lifestyle change isn't a quick fix gimmick, it's a lifetime transformation and it doesn't start on Jan 1.
Great goal/philosophy to make every moment (big or small) better than the last! As someone who has made the change, I agree with all the points you make! We do not "graduate" in this quest to get healthy, eat right...It is a lifelong process. I have learned that I need to temper my attitude and expectations with patience and fortitude and serenity...
I hate resolutions. People are full of it when they "promise" themselves they will suddenly turn into a new person. We should never stop evolving as people. 2 yrs ago I started the C25K program...this past week I ran over 24 miles...9 miles today alone! It is so much more than what and how we eat....You need to be always motivated by whatever it is that motivates you!
I personally agree a lot with resolutions, mainly because I make goals EVERY month, day and year. So being very goal orientated I participate in resolutions. I do not WAIT until the new year to do it, as I am working on past goals or "resolutions" if you will, that I set earlier that year or month or day. As long as people are putting the effort in is all that matters in my eyes. For some, that is the spark they need I think. Just my opinion on it :)
I read a quote the other day that went something like, "Everyone always focuses so much on what they eat between Christmas and New Years, when they really should be focusing on what they eat between New Years and Christmas." Your video reminded me of that, and how important it is not only to be motivated, but to have a plan for success.
I love this vid. I tried to get this point across just before xmas and was made out to be a diet scrooge by people that were giving in over the holidays. Its difficult because it is hard to stay focused around masses of festive feasts, but its like you said...there is always an excuse! happy new year greggster :)
