  • java should let us say

    import *.*.*

  • When I run the Java applet it compiles and runs it as normal, but when I embed the class file on a webpage it doesn't show any changes I've made to the program.

  • why do you never ever even mention Netbeans? Many people like it much more than Eclipse...

  • @maikkel81 He did in ep 1 I think, when he explained why he prefers eclipse to netbeans or intellij. For the record, I started trying to learn with netbeans but I hated it because the tutorials were all about how the picture looked and you never ever learnt any actual code. That's just my opinion tho :P

  • which version u r using?

  • Great.

  • hmmmm do we have to use JApplet, or could we use the import java.applet.Applet?

  • Warning: Can't read AppletViewer properties file: C:\Users\gatoo20\.hotjava\properties Using defaults. wut?

  • we need more Applet turoals! Make more! PLEASE!!!!! THANKS!

  • that's not an URL or a firefox document. That's a HTML document with the default open program firefox.

  • @catchthatchucky He knows that. No need to point it out.

  • runescape! lol

  • Runescape! :D

  • @nickbr6 OH YEA, DUMB GAME FAN.........

  • I think super.paint(g) is deprecated, i used

    public void paint(Graphics g){ super.paintComponents(g); g.drawString("Juhu applet", 25, 25); }

  • For Mac OS X, you can find all the applets at this location: /Developer/Extras/Java/Applets. Pretty Cool Applets!!

  • RuneScape uses JAVA?!?! Coooool...

  • thank god for Bucky!!!!! and f runescape

  • @thenewboston - Do you play Runescape? Or have you just heard about it

  • @ConMaheff did u spell everything right this time? Heh Heh:)

  • in ur very first tutorial u said that if the program does'nt has a main method then it wont work.....here i can't see main()

  • I'm getting this error:

java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: main Exception in thread "main" Java Result: 1

it builds, but then doesn't run correctly later. I think it has to do with you not having a main method in this program?

I'm new at java, if anyone could help me with this I'd appreciate it.

I'm using netbeans, if that matters.

  • @ConMahaff Are you running it as an applet? or an application?

  • @FrozenIceCweam I believe I tried both and neither worked. I think its because I'm using Netbeans, I google searched it and found some other people who had the same issues. I should probably use eclipse. Thanks for asking though.

  • @ConMahaff

I'm using NetBeans (6.9.1) and this applet works perfectly ok, through all the tutorials I had no problems with it, it worked just fine as bucky's eclipse

  • @Europemaster Thats odd. Maybe I need to update or something, but I could never get it to run right. Glad yours worked.

  • @ConMahaff

probably, but i dont see the reason why it woudlnt work in previous versions, maybe you have some problems with packages, caus i made new package for every tutorial and i use to copy main methods and there is sometimes wrong package imported, or it is imported under impot java.swin...

i mean i just guess, couldnt find particural reason for ur problem

  • nice job Sir Bucky! :)

  • Good work

  • nice

  • FireFart Document lol, Bucky rlz

  • But nice tutorial :D
