Just watched this in my Cyberpsychology: Cyberbullying lecture. This is awful.. I can't imagine what Ryan must have being going through. I hope at least, his story will go on as a perpetual piece in the prevention of online bullying and furthermore, teenage suicide.

If you know your child is being bullied in school get your child OUT of that situation and have him home schooled or possibly have them live with a family member or friend who is in a different school district so they can start anew. Your child's life is to sacred and it won't get better when they are in that situation because bullies are assholes who think they have to bully the weak to stay popular.
Ryan was an attractive young man usually the attractive crowd isn't the target of bullying so I figured he must of had a learning disability. And bingo, doing research he did. It's interesting in what determines who is accepted in the in crowd and who is tossed to the side in middle school where kids are first starting to figure out who they are. I was in the exact situation as Ryan when I was his age. But I knew I wasn't gay so the bullying didn't bother me and my belief in Jesus kept me going.

My cousin's 21 year old daughter was getting threatening e-mail. She didn't know where it was coming from. Law enforcement was called. And they said that there was nothing they could do since she had not been physically harmed. And I don't buy it.
This is why parents should ALWAYS monitor internet activities of children everyday. I'm so sorry for this family and what they have to go thru the rest of their lives. Bullying is REAL and the sooner we open our eyes to educating kids in our schools, we have a good chance of preventing another child from doing the unthinkable.

Today we had a school assembly going over the new bullying law. If any one in school feels harassed, intimidated or bullied in any way, he or she must report it to the guidance counselor. If you know your child is being bullied in school get your child OUT of that situation and have him home schooled or possibly have them live with a family member or friend who is in a different school district so they can start anew. Your child's life is to sacred and it won't get better when they are in that situation because bullies are assholes who think they have to bully the weak to stay popular.

Ryan was an attractive young man usually the attractive crowd isn't the target of bullying so I figured he must of had a learning disability. And bingo, doing research he did. It's interesting in what determines who is accepted in the in crowd and who is tossed to the side in middle school where kids are first starting to figure out who they are. I was in the exact situation as Ryan when I was his age. But I knew I wasn't gay so the bullying didn't bother me and my belief in Jesus kept me going.

My cousin's 21 year old daughter was getting threatening e-mail. She didn't know where it was coming from. Law enforcement was called. And they said that there was nothing they could do since she had not been physically harmed. And I don't buy it.

This is why parents should ALWAYS monitor internet activities of children everyday. I'm so sorry for this family and what they have to go thru the rest of their lives. Bullying is REAL and the sooner we open our eyes to educating kids in our schools, we have a good chance of preventing another child from doing the unthinkable.

If we go on her facebook and be mean to her, that makes us just as bad as the bullies. The point of Mr. Halligan's speech was not to have revenge, but to try and prevent bullying any time we see it. Its bad enough that Ryan's dad had to go through all of that......I respect him so much right now for being this brave to talk about this is a calm and mature way. Not only in this video, but all over the country to groups of students so that nothing like this ever happens again. The sad truth is, it will happen again....bullying will never stop.....but it needs to....there's nothing good in it......RIP Ryan.....you will be missed and although I never knew you, you're in my thoughts...
