  • at least a 9.750 she should have got

  • She should have medal here!

  • the fact that catalina ponor won the gold with mediocre tumbling, makes me sick.

  • @mortella23 Cheng Fei stepped out, so did Kozich and Dos Santo...Ponor actually got the highest score in qualifing for the final, so was the favourite. It think the sad thing is that Ponor, Cheng Fei and Alicia Sacramone were all capable of winning the AA if they did bars, it would have made an interesting quad.

  • To me this is much more perfect than many of the 10's that have been handed out in the past. A freaking triple as a dismount and she still doesn't cross her legs. I'd say almost every elite who OPENS with a triple crosses her legs somewhat. All the tumbling and dance difficult and without a single error, not even a tiny form break. Super-artistic, never a flexed foot in sight, never a gap between the legs, so well suited to the music, if this was performed before 1992 it would have received a 10

  • combines artistry and athletics ability .. and what a cutie when she was only 16 :D

  • Hi my name is Amy Bruce. I'm seven years old. I have severe lung cancer and a large tumor in my brain from repeated beatings. My doctors said I will die soon if i don't get it fixed. • wow her triple is perfect

  • I hope her she will be happy at what she is doing

  • she fell out of her turn, so it couldn't have been a ten. but it was real good.

  • she fourth in athens FX!

  • Yes but, Nadia Comaneci is the best!

  • Perfect 10????

  • She is amazing!

  • Does anybody know if Cheng Fei is 16 yet?

  • Comment removed

  • @beautifulsarah100 she is 22 right now

  • @beautifulsarah100 She's 23 as of now. Was born in '88.

  • I agree, she is like 10 years old here.

  • @yngtxtopbear wow of all the gymnasts who looked like they were 10 you chose cheng fei?? She was perfectly believable to be 16 here (for a gymnast). I could show you like 10 gymnasts who looked like they were 10 when they were seniors

  • She's so tiny back then!

Anyway,is she coming back for london 2012? i hope she does!

  • I think that the meet was called "perfect 10"

  • @TheAzngymnast1 That meet was called perfect 10? That meet was the olympics!!

  • @LMA629 um... I think everyone knows it was the Olympics.. The 'perfect 10' was in reference to how good the routine was.

  • @nicki446 my comment was a response to someone who said "I think that the meet was called "perfect 10" ". And the routine did not get a perfect 10. the last perfect 10 in history was Milo in 1992. but maybe the perfect 10 is just a reference to how good the poster thought it was.

  • this music is fro m the ballet don quixote!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahahahahha

  • @chillychillychillies reaally how?

  • a 9.65 is not a perfect 10, as said in your title.

  • That first jump was HUGE!!! :-O

  • Who took this video?

  • if it is a 9.650 it is not a 10.0. good routine though.

  • 0:08 omg!!

  • i am kind of confused about the 10.0's because i have seen alot of gymnast get them , this might not make any sense to some people but, how do you know which gymnast does the skills correctly, i have seen alot of techniques on the same skills , none of them look the same, so how do you know which is the correct way to do it, so that you will get a 10.0, does that make any sense?

  • @justin1gibson Erm... How can I say? Firstly, some moves are to our common sense, like whether gymnast hit her split or not, e.g. Nastia VS Shawn, which Nastia hits splits but Shawn does not, but some technical requirements, like the requirements of hip angle of different body positionsm Then you have to know from the FIG CoP. Secondly, because there are so much different techniques (like straddling in your kips or giants), you won't see them look the same. Hope this helps!

  • you have to remember that the judging at this olympics was atrocious.

  • that is really good!!!

  • a 9.65 is completley unfair i mean her first pass was a double double! and then a full in, then a 2.5 twisting layout to a straight layout! then a triple twist at the end? and they were all perfectly executed! This routine was far superieor to catalina pornor's floor routine.

  • @luv4cookie1

Remember, people had gotten Perfect 10's really earned them.

  • Yeah! And not just the tumbling but the dance too. She danced so well and she did a triple turn to a popa and a full twisting switch leap. I don't know the old code, but was her start value at a 10.0? Maybe that full twisting switch leap was supposed to be a 1 1/2 twist..

  • that cameraman is very annoying, keep it steady !!!

  • @Elemarth That doesn't make any sense. Gymnasts now don't even have a chance of getting them, regardless of how perfect a routine they might pull out. The judging has changed, but the quality of the gymnasts is still just as high.

  • I don't see how your comment makes sense. Unless you mean that there will be no final score that is 10.00, which is obvious. But I thought it was worth maybe 9.85, and if a gymnast has a perfect routine... why won't they get a 10.0 on execution? (I doubt anyone will, without a low difficulty score. Nadia's routine was extremely difficult for the time, but still. She was Nadia.)

  • Even the most "perfect" routines today (I'm thinking Fan Ye 2005 BB EF) are not awarded tens, even if they clearly deserved them. Any gymnast who got a 10 in the past certainly had little mistakes here and there; you act as though the gymnasts who got 10s were infinitely better than gymnasts today who don't have a chance of getting a 10 for execution (the B-score is what we're talking about here, anyway).

  • Nastia Liukin got a 9.8 in execution on beam in 2008 at the Pacific Rim I believe, and it was obvious that she got a deduction for leg separation on her dismount. The judges aren't afraid to give out tens, but then again the code is much more strict, so they never have a chance..

  • @chrislindsey14 What about the Fan Ye routine that I mentioned? I can find no deductions with it.

  • @QueenieQue That is probably my favorite routine ever. I would have deducted on the landing of the sheep jump and the slight instability of her switch ring (because she did move her arms)

  • It was very lively and energetic, I liked it!

  • WONDERFUL! She deserved a ten after all her years of hard training!

  • i must say that she is relly good and i think many gymnasts do deserve 10.0 but to bad it most likely will never happen :( because of the semi-newish code

  • 9.6 is NOT 10.0, you should see Nadia Comaneci

  • You guys are retarded. There is no such thing as perfect. There are always errors in the slightest things. Shes wonderful. But I caught some minors. Think of deductions... not the good things.

  • Yes, this wasn't 10.0, but that's why the "perfect 10" in between quotes

  • I know. I'm just saying why it wouldnt be a 10 either weay. ;]

  • Yeah I too see the mistakes, but this is close to perfection isn't it? Why not appreciate the good things rather than getting bothered by the bad ones?

  • i dont think she got a 10., because the side bar says 9.650 and the perfect 10 in the title is " "

  • im trying to find deductions also

  • I found only one, there was a slight separation in her legs one the full in pike out.

Besides that I can't see any major errors.

There's always the chance she didn't start with a 10.0 SV, but I doubt that's the case.

  • so if you look at another version of this video from a different view you can see that she has 3 errors. its sad cause she is so incredible and should have metaled.

  • I've never seen if from another view. Tough you're probably right, the bottom on the screen is blocked.

I felt so bad for her at 2008 Olympics.

  • jumps are really good, but choreography is not too good...:/ She does not deserve a perfect 10

  • She was robbed off a medal.

  • @chillychillychillies definately!!!!!!!!!!!She should have got a medal on the floor in 2004 Olympics.

  • @chillychillychillies did she not win this?

  • @siegetank55 Nope, she came 4th :/ Such a pity, lovely routine!

  • god stupid perfectionist judges at the olympics. you know what? that was perfection. cheung fei is a beautiful gymnast and she should have gotten a 1-. i'd like to see those assholes get out there and even attempt what she does.

  • I would have loved to know what the judges deducted her for... O.o

  • mmm...the tumblings were wonderful...the coreo not so much...just something to fill the space between a tumbling and another...

  • why the title is : PERFECT TEN!!!

    she has 9.650!!!!

    fucker

  • because she deserves a perfect 10 for this

    lol

  • When was this? Events finals or AA?

  • it was the prelims

  • fei is a bif star.she continues or not?

  • Looks a bit like Deng Linlin

  • i thought Cheng Fei was 16 at the Beijing olympics.... maybe I'm wrong... hmmm.......

  • no they reported that she was 20 at the '08 olympics

  • she was 20

  • no she wasn't she was 16

  • i know this is prelim. but i wonder why she have that kind of score. Its a bit low for that high level of difficulty of tumble. And i think this routine is much more difficult than Ms. Catalina Ponor which get a 9.7 range of score. What do you think. Open for comments, suggestions and critisim.

  • ok bt they only judge on execution. then the judges multiply your execution score (1-10) on your diffuclty levellll

  • man alive! 10 year olds are good at gymnastics x) haha jus kiddin i know i know =p

  • She is amazing lol :)

She s my best gymnast :))

    Lover her !

    @+

  • It a very good routine but I don't think she dot a perfect 10.

  • She didn't the person just said she did read the info by the name! She got a 9.65 not a 10.0. She came in fourth though!

  • yeah she was fourth

the first was catalina ponor then daniela sofronie and on the third place was patricia moreno from spain

  • yeah i agree

  • She is so great!!Im proud of her.Although she lost the gold medals in 2008 Beijing Olympic,i still support her!!!I hope more and more people will like her performance.

    程菲做得太好了!!我實在以她為榮=) 雖然她在北京奧運失了手 得不到金牌...不過我仍然會支持她!她仍然是我的偶像!!希望她得到越來越多人的認同。=))

  • It looked like she competed under huge pressure, but she will always be loved and respected!

  • It isn't perfect. Her legs come apart during her full-twisting double pike and she is stumbly during her triple turn. And I don't think she had a 10.00 SV because of bonus that was lost as a result. I think she had a 9.9

  • cheng fei is a great gymnast!

  • Actually then she was about 16 or 17 years old.

  • how old is she now?

  • she is currently 20

  • Thanks!

some one from gym told me she was 25 and i was like what i dont believe that

  • ching fei is soooo beautiful

  • Was she a competitor in Beijing?

  • Yes she is. She won a gold in women team final. But unfortunately she made a mistake in the vault's final and missed the medel. After that she won a bronze in beam.

  • Actually, she got third in vault, but she did make a mistake. I got the gist of what you were saying, though.

  • to see they still danced in their routine as late as 04, makes me even more sad that they dont do it anymore. watching floor this olympics it was like, why even have music? just turn it off like the men do b/c all anyone did was technical skills, not choreography at all. just 'code of points, code of points, code of points' going through all of their heads.

  • i agree.

  • They are making it more technical because it is once more a women's sport but Izbasa, Luikin, Pavlova, Dos Santos and Jiang Yuyuan were perfectly able to combine techincal skills with artistry...

  • i thought ksenia semenova had good choreo too. her dance was cute

  • Ksenia Semenova is a great gymnast, my favorite of the new crop.

  • Puts 2008 Olympics to shame seeing the quality of those in 2004.

  • yes 9.65 is good routine for me = 10

  • the person behind the camera is doing a terrible job.

  • Seriously!

  • atleast a 9.850

  • her difficulty, artistry n tumbling passes ARE so much BETTER than Ponor. what a fluke Ponor's gold was

  • Yes, I love Ponor's floor but Alina Kozich, Cheng Fei and Diaine Dos Santos had better ones and all made errors in the final, Ponor did not.

  • her full layouts are far from perfect, she under rotates everytime, not worth a 10

  • in the team competition, she scored less than catalina ponor and her tumblings are so much more difficult than ponor... in the new judging code, she would have scored higher. i'm glad they changed the code.

  • boring music but great moves

  • Ludwig Minkus's "Don Quixote" is boring? Since when?

I would give it a higher score than Ponor too. Her tumbling was harder and the choreo exhausting. Good job!

  • The music is great, the choreo lacks inspiration and makes it boring to watch. I thought she should have gotten gold, too.

  • She stepped out of bounds in the floor final in 04 like she did it 08... The gold was hers to loose.

  • Her tumbling was very good but she didn't use the floor space enough, her choreoghrapy was a little poor and I can see she under rotated a little in her piroett.

But still after saying all that, it was amazing how she sticked every single tumble!

  • Yeah the perfect 10 got me all hyped up! Lol!

  • why sis u put Perfect 10 in the title?

  • it shouldnt say perfect 10 in the title

  • is this the final or not? coz on the final she stepped out of bounds twice wen she did the dance after her full in pike

  • is womens Qualification
