It is refreshing to see a movement that is about substance, civility, and respectful dialog.

Democracy in Action has received funding from Mr. Soros, but Coffee Party USA does not receive any money or influence from either. Democracy in Action and Wired for Change are vendors that offer Internet services and were donated. As a grassroots movement with no initial operating budget, they rely on volunteer hours, and expertise donated by a variety of individuals and organizations.

Annabel Park has worked for all sorts of Democrat political organizations and movements in her career. She certianly isn't one of the regular people who uses facebook and hasn't worked in politics extensively, and she doesn't make any effort to make that clear to viewers.

Well I've got good news. The coffee party that I went to had several indls that refused to identify as being a demc or republican. When one guy stood up and bellowed "we must remember that we are democrats and stay loyal to the party. Even if it doesn't appear they're representing us at the moment," many of us (probably 1/3 of us) denounced his statement and said we want to use this as a format to make a bridge w/ tea party concerns.

In fact, they were following the lead of other newspapers who reported on it first such as the Washington Post. They were late reporting it. But it is their job to report the news, so they reported on it, just as they were reporting on the Tea Party movement (they were also late on reporting on that, btw).

Early US newspapers had lots of opinion. When expensive tech took over media (mass distribution of print, radio, TV, network servers), the citizens lost control.

It is refreshing to see a movement that is about substance, civility, and respectful dialog.
Of course this does not mean everyone will agree with each other, but at least we all may come to understand one another a little better.
I think many of us will find that we do agree on somethings, and we will hopefully learn that even when we disagree we can still be civil to each other.

I looked for Coffee Party locations in ATL yesterday. In a city of over 4m people, there were only 3 locations, two of which were limited to less than 50 people. On 4/15, youll see 10,000-15,000 Tea Partiers at the GA State Capitol.

The key is to attend these things and discuss the Federal Reserve/monetary policy, globalism and perpetual war. These are the core issues, it's hard to imagine anyone on either side thinking NAFTA is a good idea or that invading Iran is in the country's best interests or that the Federal Reserve should be able to print and issue money out of nothing.

Democracy in Action has received funding from Mr. Soros, but Coffee Party USA does not receive any money or influence from either. I agree, the problem is that we (the people) have become spectators and politics has in effect become a "spectator sport". A democratic government without citizens as participants will no longer function as a democracy.

Well I've got good news. The coffee party that I went to had several indls that refused to identify as being a demc or republican. When one guy stood up and bellowed "we must remember that we are democrats and stay loyal to the party. Even if it doesn't appear they're representing us at the moment," many of us (probably 1/3 of us) denounced his statement and said we want to use this as a format to make a bridge w/ tea party concerns.

Right I'm sure it has nothing to do with civilians wanting to put action into their own country. Like Americans have throughout our history, Democrat or Republican. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the constitution and the right to assemble. Your propaganda is what isn't working.

The Coffee Party was started by Annabel PArk, a former strategy analyst at the NY Times. This is why the NY Times reported on the Coffee Party so quickly after its founding.
As an activist for Obama, she created more than a dozen videos showing her support.
She also organized "United for Obama".
Nothing about this is grassroots. The Coffee Party is government-approved corporate astroturf with the sole agenda of helping the Left expand the federal govt and bankrupt the private sector.

She was an Obama supporter during the election.. yes. As were millions of people - and she made videos and has a strong interest in politics... even studied it in college I believe. She also worked for a year as a strategist with NY times... none of this makes her an 'operative'.

I said she is an activist and organizer who has played this game before. She's a mainstream media reject hack who has ties to the NEA scandal.
I don't believe in any conspiracy theory, I just think she should acknowledge she's a conspirator using her MSM connections to push an astroturf campaign for the current regime.

once again.. the fact that she campaigned.. like thousands of groups that organized for obama.. doesn't make it astroturf.. - just the opposite, she was a part of the first grass roots movement and is influential again by reigniting the movement with the coffee party.
She's not a 'conspirator'.. just the same as using a word like 'operative'.. you don't believe in any conspiracy theory you say.. then you say she's a conspirator in the same breath. She studies politics and makes films.

I repeat, there is no conspiracy theory, just an actual group of people conspiring, exploiting their corporate connections to push a political agenda. Dumbass. You are trying to make this a conspiracy theory. The NY Times did not report on this "quickly after its founding." In fact, they were following the lead of other newspapers who reported on it first such as the Washington Post. They were late reporting it. But it is their job to report the news, so they reported on it, just as they were reporting on the Tea Party movement (they were also late on reporting on that, btw).
This movement IS grassroots. Stop lying.

@jensen1901--Hey, I'm the head of coffeeparty manhattan, and we really don't want to use terms like 'teabagger' and 'dumbass' because we don't feel it contributes to a dialogue that is 1. civil 2. respectful, and 3. cooperative. so, please refrain from using that kind of language. it's not very coffee party! thanks.

Great gathering today. Thousands of people show up for a "Kill the Bill" rally in Minnesota, the most socialist of all US states.
Meanwhile, like 5 "Coffee Party" people hold a "rally" in a coffee house in Washington, D.C.

We'll have seminars on how to call into talk radio shows & get past the call screeners. also, we'll have video cameras to tape testimonials. don't worry: we'll have everything written out for you to say (basically, obama rocks, stuff like that)...& we'll also have an acting teacher there b/c some of the acting so far look worse than porn..coffee party!!

People didn't vote for Obama, because no one at the time knew anything about Obama, other than he hadn't finished his first term in the US Senate.
They voted for "change".
So tell me, what changes haven't happened? The Dems just renewed the Patriot Act without changes, violence escalated in the wars, Gitmo still open, spending out of control.
The changes Obama focuses on are changes the American people reject: bailouts, single-payer, cap and trade, and apologies to our enemies.

The best way to start to exercise your power as an individual, is to shut out or turn off ALL opinion shows, such as what you see on Fox News, MSNBC and CNN. Look at facts, not opinions, and apply what you believe to the democratic process. There is pressure today moving in the direction of making the very Constitution obsolete, as Americans it's our patriotic duty to ensure that never happens. The Government should fear its' people, not the other way around!

You can't separate opinion from news, bc people report the news and all people are biased.
The real answer is to listen to the news and the opinion from multiple sources, be an adult, and use your BS-detector. And keep learning, reading political philosophies, etc.

Glenn Beck is NOT a news reporter, nor is any of those opinion show commentators on rival networks to Fox. If you want to watch a documentary about the news media watch "Orwell Rolls in his Grave". By selectively filtering news coverage (Choosing facts) the viewer's perception becomes controlled. You sound educated enough to understand propaganda and media manipulation.

It is the responsibility of the people to investigate for themselves what is factual and what is not. All news is controlled by narrow and opinionated news wires, who inject bias into every line they come up with.
Early US newspapers had lots of opinion. When expensive tech took over media (mass distribution of print, radio, TV, network servers), the citizens lost control.
News parading as unbiased is bogus. We need more opinion, and more BS-detecting citizens.
