For to be a great singer you must study a tecnique! The last Nightwish's singer had a tecnique of sing and a tecnique to cover the voice!! (opera influence, diphragmatic breathing) This singer don't cover the voice and all the notes are open and the tone is approximately. This is not an idea but is the eveident situation.

You can compare, but they are different if team is changing or style of music. Some bands play heavy and the soft, death and then pop rock....
I like Nightwish but with Tarja. They were really unique m they had their voice, sound, character, now they are just one of the many. Well, this version of the song will never be for everyone, which is perfectly understandable. For though they are both perfectly talented, Anette and Tarja are extremely different. Let us all keep in mind that this is in 2008, not only was Anette still passing over some rough spots in adjusting to the band, but this was when their tour was admittedly too heavy. I suggest listening to one in 2009 before passing a final judgment.

@elektra647 Tarja is out and doing her own thing, she has definitely moved on. And that is great; and Emmpu is a better guitarisit than any she has hired. Anette has the gig now and being an optimist, my hope is she continues to improve and has massive success.
Although I like Nightwish and I do think that they have good songs with Anette, I also think that she shouldn't trie to sing Tarja's songs. She just simply can't, they aren't written to her voice. Anette makes Sleeping Sun and the rest sound like pop and I can't stand it. If the band thinks that it is the way to keep the old fans they are mistaken, the only thing they are doing now is driving the old fans away.

I think she has done a good job at it. its not as good as Tarja's but thats mainly because that was the first one I heard. but this one isn't a bad version

i dont like anettes version of tarjas songs either but dont act like her versions are lost, there are records, go listen to them instead. Anette is a fantastic singer but Tarjas songs are simply not for her voice, shes an alto and tarja is soprano. simple. And i really dont want to hear tarja singing anettes songs, would be just as bad as this is.

And one thing You can like some one's music, but not exactly the artist, same as opposite, but sometimes You must admit that some bands are unique in some periods. You can not say that old Pink Floyd is like Australian band. It's different. Sometimes artist die sometimes go away or are kicked off, so the band is changing. You can compare, but they are different if team is changing or style of music. Some bands play heavy and the soft, death and then pop rock....

I like Nightwish but with Tarja. They were really unique m they had their voice, sound, character, now they are just one of the many. We can say now they are ok, You can listen them, but before, Mum: "Sunny I wall ringing to You and You didn't answer the call!!!" Son: "Whhhh...shhhhh I'm listening" ;-)

AmuletofSamarkand this is public place so every one can makes opinion. I admit that Tarja sang this song perfectly and now it sucks. I don't know why they try to perform songs that are older and belong to different team and vocalist. It's obvious that people will confront both performance.

Also, remember everyone, though the comments are for debating and expressing your opinion, attempt to keep in mind that Tarja was dismissed from Nightwish over five years ago now. So, if she was Nightwish to you, then that means you never appreciated/cared about the music, in which you shouldn’t care that she is no longer in Nightwish, given that you can enjoy her solo career, which is based entirely upon her.

If you unable to locate one, given that they only played the song twice in 2009, paste Nightwish-Sleeping Sun 16.8.2009 Olavinlinna into your search bar and select the first one. Only do this if you have interest in open-mindedly growing to like Anette, of course. Otherwise, you would be better to spend your time watching videos that you like, given that you and everyone will be happier for it :)

Well, this version of the song will never be for everyone, which is perfectly understandable. For though they are both perfectly talented, Anette and Tarja are extremely different. Let us all keep in mind that this is in 2008, not only was Anette still passing over some rough spots in adjusting to the band, but this was when their tour was admittedly too heavy. I suggest listening to one in 2009 before passing a final judgment.

Wow, you'd think people would have accepted that Tarja is gone by now. Seriously, it's been FIVE FUCKING YEARS! It all boils down to whether or not you trust the band's judgement. I do, therefore I enjoy Anette's vocals. This does not mean I don't prefer Tarja, but hey, what are you gonna do.

Tarja puts alot more soul into this song. naturally her voice is better suited given her musical career and training, i think if annette worked on how she sung this, it could be substantially better :) i like it anyway

@elektra647 Tarja is out and doing her own thing, she has definitely moved on. And that is great; and Emmpu is a better guitarisit than any she has hired. Anette has the gig now and being an optimist, my hope is she continues to improve and has massive success.

Although I like Nightwish and I do think that they have good songs with Anette, I also think that she shouldn't trie to sing Tarja's songs. She just simply can't, they aren't written to her voice. Anette makes Sleeping Sun and the rest sound like pop and I can't stand it. If the band thinks that it is the way to keep the old fans they are mistaken, the only thing they are doing now is driving the old fans away.

I like it. I don't care what you all are crying for like babys. I can understand your opinions, but those comments are annoying. I just want to hear NW. With Tarja a part of NW was gone, but still the rest is making their jobs great. It's different, but I think NW is still the best band I know. I think it's ok, that Anette sings old songs of NW. When there will be new songs, that fit her voice you will hear better ones. Or do you wanna try "opera-voice" songs!? It's not as easy as you think! :D
