Hey man, once i've recorded guitar into Edison, how do i put it into the playlist without adding it to patterns? Because my guitar recordings are so long, they don't fit into a pattern without repeating before it's finished, unless I turn the tempo down to around 40-50 bpm. But then it's way to low for the beat etc??? Any help would be really appreciated. Cheers.
@xCayk Yes, please watch our Edison Drag Copy Button video. Depending on the version of FL Studio you are using, you can use the Drag Copy Button to drag out the Edison audio into the Playlist or you can utilize the SendTo button which will automatically place the selected Edison audio into a Playlist clip.
I have a question, were trying to record on FLSudio 9 but whenever we try to record it seems to do it through my laptop microphone and i get a terrible echoing noise that you cant even hear the vocals or instruments over. I have ASIO4ALL v2 and a mic set up through a usb interface but i dont know if its my setting because no matter what it seems to record with the noise or not at all. help would be greatly appreciated T-T

@PETRIFYINGGAZE Hi - you can simply press the delete key. Also, audio recorded into Edison is saved into the RAM of your computer and not into a file on your computer. If you were to close FL Studio without saving the Edison window, you would completely lose the audio that you recorded into Edison.
QUESTION: I have created a loop sample in FL stu 9 and I know how to save what i did but how do I make the loop recording longer than 5 seconds? The saved file in a Mp3 form plays for 5 secs want to get it to play for at least 30 secs or longer

Hello, I have a question. How come when I import music into FL Studio by loading in edison- dragging to playlist panel (I think that's what it is) and inserting into a mixing track...when I record vocals over it, it lowers my music at the sound of each word? What is that? Please let me know if you need me to rephrase the question. But when I used yout MicVox it doesn't.
@SampleSimple I'm sorry for the confusion, but I have figured it out- but fo rthose possibly having the same proble- I will reiterate. When importing or loading a wav file (instrumental) and then recording audio (vocals in particular) over it, the music seems to compress lower than the audio recorded. Then when you stop singing it goes back to its usual volume. I figured out that it's Fruity Limiter, which automatically populates in the Master Track FX bank- take it off and the problem fixes.

@bongwatertastey Yes. Place Edison on the Master mixer insert then when you're scrubbing, you should see the audio signal meter in Edison reflect whats being heard. Then just click record in Edison to record it.
@beastlymickeymouse Get a Studio Recording MIcrophone with XLR. Go to your local music store and tell them you'd like to record music in a studio and to show you the best mics. Also, I would advise you to get an external USB or FireWire soundcard that connects to your computer as opposed to hooking your mic into your stock sound card if you have one.
@souljrell Hi just record onto a new track by re-activating the record button. Check out the MICVOX template. After recording the first take, you can just record again wherever you'd like to create adlibs. This is a standard functionality in FL Studio.

@eareffect Make sure that you put your drums on a track other than the Master track and make sure they are not on the track that you are recording to. In other words, set your recording track to lets say Track 1 and your drums to Track 2.

@jaltheband786 Yes. This is possible as .WAV files are recorded and this standard audio type is uncompressed so it is much larger (and cleaner quality) than MP3.

@eatemup316 You may need to adjust your latency settings for your MBOX as well as within FL Studio audio settings. Also make sure you don't have any other apps running while recording.

@cage987 Export your song into an MP3 then use a CD burning software to burn your songs to CD. iTunes and Windows Media Player can do this. Make sure you have a CD burner.

you are susposed to drag your pattrens into the playlist however many bars you want it to be and when you are done go to file then export then mp3 file
the file it's going to be big because you are probably recording your takes with plug-in fx running their automation record your takes raw first by this i mean no reverb no delay etc and once you finish your recording then proceed to mix it with the fx that you like and never record or bounce your work in mp3 format do it always as wav if you have to edit something later is better to have a wav format of your project because wav does not lose any of the data recorded on your takes
mp3 compressed all data to make the file smaller and when this happen fx like echo delay doubler fx on voices and reverberation is lost and never ever can be recovered making your song flat once you are finish with your project and it's ready to go for your demo tape presentation or whatever is your purpose then make a mp3 version of your song with an mp3 maker software Im a recording engineer that is why I know what i just explained to you here try it you will heard the difference good luck
On my friends computer i can import a synth hit or a synth key to Edison and it'll automaticly find a loop wich i can use to make my own synth out of a WAV-file, and i thought well this is amazing

Hi Godisen007, is this a VST synth instrument or just WAV files? To record a synth into FL Studio Edison you can add Edison to a mixer insert channel that your synth is routed to. Give that a try then let me know how it goes.
no, the synth is just like one long tone in WAV format, and i want to loop it to make my own synth out of the WAV-file. So I think you missunderstood my question.
After you import or drag the synth-wav file into Edison make sure that the standard view is activated. Press the E key to scroll through the different views. The view that you need to be on is the one with out a line in the middle of the waveform. Then select and highlight the part you'd like to loop. Then you can click the LOOP button to the left of the Edison PLAY button to test out how your loop sounds. Then just save the loop. Let me know how it goes.
yes, that works, but you still dont see my question, that loop im supposed to find was found automaticly on my friends computer and all i had to do was click it and i had a perfextly cut out loop, here it doesnt work.
Hi crossfader15, try press the E key while in Edison to seek through the different editing modes. If there is a line through your waveform then continue press the E key until the line disappears. Let me know how it goes.
Hi creepsomber, you can definitely use Edison to record guitar tracks however I think the best possible way to do this is recording into the Playlist that way you can record directly alongside the other tracks on the Playlist that may be part of your song. Of course, you can also record solo guitar tracks into the Playlist without any other instruments laid down.

Will someone please tell me how to undo clips I edit in the playlist, I merged 2 clips and it won't let me undo the merge, the undo in the edit menu is greyed out and it's not in history wtf is going on. I notice when i edit in the playlist it won't let me undo what i did
Hi MAINDEBO, the markers slice and chop your sample into individual pieces allowing you to trigger them individually to recreate the sample. You can also export them into their own separate sample files.
why is it that when i move one marker it moves the rest of them too. I dont want it to do this so what should i do. I tried changing the snap settings but its still doing the same thing
but when u selected & deleted that section, edison joined the parts that came before and after it together, which would throw off the whole timing of the sample. So how do u delete that portion and replace it with silence so the sample length & timing r the same?
you gotta mute the section, not delete it i guess.
This lesson has nothing to do with teaching you edison, it is really a cut/copy/paste/undo lesson. he didn't show what the markers do, he didn't show what the features in edison do...
If you like playing around with edison, check out the blur effect button. try it with all sorts of various sounds and samples... it can have some crazy results.

@agilliam1018 Hi, this shouldn't be the case. It should definitely play whatever you've recorded in its entirety. What happens if you drag the saved audio into the Playlist then play it from there?
Can you preview the effects (e.g. Convolution Reverb) as you tweak it on the spot in Edison? I had a problem with that in version 7, Edison's effects didn't allow me to preview any sound (including the reverb's source impulse files to be browsed) so I would have but to press "Accept" without knowing how it would actually sound like.

@cage987 Export your song into an MP3 then use a CD burning software to burn your songs to CD. iTunes and Windows Media Player can do this. Make sure you have a CD burner.

i understand the add mark option but for some reason when i click on add a mark and try to bring my mouse over the waves, my mouse keeps turning into a plus or target sign instead of the arrow that you are getting when you move your mouse over the waves. can you please help me?

Explain more when u say playlist. FL playlist or a music playlist of your own?
You will have to import it the same way you import any wav/mp3 if Im understand correctly.Download AUDACITY for free. It's a for small editing jobs.
Always RENAME your files before tampering with them. That way you'll have ur original if anything goes wrong.
ALWAYS!!! Even when I make a beat...when I get to a point where Im satisfied with most, I save and rename and work from the new file

hi i jus downloaded fl 8. I uploaded a sample on to edison but it wont let me select which sample to keep. When ever i try to select it or put my arrow over the soudwave thing the arrow turns into a thin pus sign. Any advice?

While making a beat... I made a mistake and hit something that cause me to be recording to the master track. I can hear that my mic is on when I try to continue working on this project. How can I cancel the recording to the master track so that I can eliminate the mic being on?

record into AUDACITY...edit it in there...then import it as an mp3 into fl studio7 NOT 8, SEVEN
then make drum tracks for it...lol

if the mic in the headphone has an input jack probably a 1/8 jack. otherwise you should be using a mixer with asio drivers or w/e

but i got a big damn problem...when i record my Beats i always uses Edisons..cuz its the only way i know to record..but why the hell the file will be like 70 MB if the beat is 3 mins?...and i want it to be MP3 not WAve any help?

you are susposed to drag your pattrens into the playlist however many bars you want it to be and when you are done go to file then export then mp3 file

the file it's going to be big because you are probably recording your takes with plug-in fx running their automation record your takes raw first by this i mean no reverb no delay etc and once you finish your recording then proceed to mix it with the fx that you like and never record or bounce your work in mp3 format do it always as wav if you have to edit something later is better to have a wav format of your project because wav does not lose any of the data recorded on your takes

mp3 compressed all data to make the file smaller and when this happen fx like echo delay doubler fx on voices and reverberation is lost and never ever can be recovered making your song flat once you are finish with your project and it's ready to go for your demo tape presentation or whatever is your purpose then make a mp3 version of your song with an mp3 maker software Im a recording engineer that is why I know what i just explained to you here try it you will heard the difference good luck

I have a problem:
On my friends computer i can import a synth hit or a synth key to Edison and it'll automaticly find a loop wich i can use to make my own synth out of a WAV-file, and i thought well this is amazing
and now im trying to do this on my own computer and it isnt working, couse there's no loop. Do you know what the problem is, how to fix this?

Hi Godisen007, is this a VST synth instrument or just WAV files? To record a synth into FL Studio Edison you can add Edison to a mixer insert channel that your synth is routed to. Give that a try then let me know how it goes.

no, the synth is just like one long tone in WAV format, and i want to loop it to make my own synth out of the WAV-file. So I think you missunderstood my question.

After you import or drag the synth-wav file into Edison make sure that the standard view is activated. Press the E key to scroll through the different views. The view that you need to be on is the one with out a line in the middle of the waveform. Then select and highlight the part you'd like to loop. Then you can click the LOOP button to the left of the Edison PLAY button to test out how your loop sounds. Then just save the loop. Let me know how it goes.

yes, that works, but you still dont see my question, that loop im supposed to find was found automaticly on my friends computer and all i had to do was click it and i had a perfextly cut out loop, here it doesnt work.

Hi crossfader15, try press the E key while in Edison to seek through the different editing modes. If there is a line through your waveform then continue press the E key until the line disappears. Let me know how it goes.

Hi creepsomber, you can definitely use Edison to record guitar tracks however I think the best possible way to do this is recording into the Playlist that way you can record directly alongside the other tracks on the Playlist that may be part of your song. Of course, you can also record solo guitar tracks into the Playlist without any other instruments laid down.

Will someone please tell me how to undo clips I edit in the playlist, I merged 2 clips and it won't let me undo the merge, the undo in the edit menu is greyed out and it's not in history wtf is going on. I notice when i edit in the playlist it won't let me undo what i did

Hi MAINDEBO, the markers slice and chop your sample into individual pieces allowing you to trigger them individually to recreate the sample. You can also export them into their own separate sample files.

but when u selected & deleted that section, edison joined the parts that came before and after it together, which would throw off the whole timing of the sample. So how do u delete that portion and replace it with silence so the sample length & timing r the same?

you gotta mute the section, not delete it i guess.
This lesson has nothing to do with teaching you edison, it is really a cut/copy/paste/undo lesson. he didn't show what the markers do, he didn't show what the features in edison do...
If you like playing around with edison, check out the blur effect button. try it with all sorts of various sounds and samples... it can have some crazy results.

It really depends what you're doing with the sample. Remember this also acts as an audio editor. Here at the SampleSimple FL Studio LAB, we typically use Edison for editing, chopping, slicing and research for core recording and sampling capabilities in FL Studio. We rarely deal with timing, tempo matching and things of that nature for these lessons. Our primary goal here at SampleSimple is to show you how to record and sample in FL Studio.

@agilliam1018 Hi, this shouldn't be the case. It should definitely play whatever you've recorded in its entirety. What happens if you drag the saved audio into the Playlist then play it from there?

Can you preview the effects (e.g. Convolution Reverb) as you tweak it on the spot in Edison? I had a problem with that in version 7, Edison's effects didn't allow me to preview any sound (including the reverb's source impulse files to be browsed) so I would have but to press "Accept" without knowing how it would actually sound like.
