@moh1612 I would really like the soundtrack to this if you have it. I wrote you quite a long winded letter but was blocked from sending it because we're not friends. Let me know if you can help. I'm sending you a friend request by the way just so you know, I'm not some band looking for exposure or anything.
Everytime I hear this clip, I remember the scene where Neil and Del are driving away from the airport, with Neil talking in chipmunk form after locking steel with that pissed-off cabbie.
Del: "Do you have any idea how glad I am I didn't kill you?!"
Neil: "Do you have any idea how glad I'd be if you had?"
I've never seen a guy get picked up by his testicles before.. Lucky thing for you that cop passed by when he did, otherwise you'd be lifting up your schnutz to tie your shoes! Do you have any idea how glad I am I didn't kill you?
@gullwing14 yes!!! I always think of that line when I hear this haha that and when del backs the car into the hotel room and they book outta there lmao great movie, definetly one of my top 3 faves
Does anyone know the name of the instrumental song at the end of the movie, when Steve Harvey and John Candy goes there seperate ways at the train station??
where can I fond the music from the scene where john candy is alone in the snow talking to his wife while steve marrtin is in the hotel room, that was always my favorite part of the score.
@mrdjjames This is the song that played when Del and Neal get the convertible from the St Louis Airport. Woollybully was refering to the scene right after the car started on fire and they go to the motel. Neal was able to rent a room with $17 and "a hell of a nice watch" while Del only had $2 and a Casio-so he didn't get a room. So it shows Del sitting in the burned out car talking to his wife. A slow version of Modigliani plays.
"I've never seen a guy get picked up by his testicles, before... Lucky for you that cop passed by when you did other-wise you'd be lifting up your schnuts to tie your shoes. (**John Candy laughs.**.). I'm sorry. That's terrible. You have any idea how glad I am I didn't kill you?".
"You have any idea how glad I am I didn't kill you?"
"You have any idea how glad I'd be if you had?"
"Awww, come on, pal, you don't mean that. Remember what I said about going with the flow?"
"How am I suppose to go with the flow when the rental car agency leaves me at a hundred acre parking lot with keys to a car that isn't there and I have hike three miles back to find out they don't have anymore cars?!"
I wish this song & this type of music from the 1980's was still around.
I was born in 1989 & when I first saw this movie at a young age & heard this song in the movie, I fell in love with both the movie & the song & hear I am, now still feeling that same sense of nostalgia & facing the fact of "Music like this is what we'll never, ever see from the next generation of music. Instead, we've got Hannah Montana, Justin Biber, The Jonas Brothers, The Jonas Brothers & The Jonas Brothers, sadly.".
Steve Martin and John Candy both give some of the most real performances I've ever seen on film. This is still one of my favorite movies to date. Great holiday movie, and a great comedy
Holy cow I've searched for this song for years! Always thought it was just some medley created specifically for the movie so I thought I'd never find it. :D
We miss you John, you bought happiness to so many and through that you`ll always be remembered. Even if you did burn Steve Martins car, leave your pants in the sink, take his cab, take his luggage...:)
Agreed. They really haven't made a decent buddy road trip film. Traveling comedies (or movies involving unlikely friends on an adventure) are really one of my favorite genres!
A movie that doesn't quite compare but is still pretty good and along the same lines "unlikely friends" is Nothing to Lose with Tim Robbins and Martin Lawrence.
I have read somewhere (IMDB) that Steve Martin was so depressed after John Candy´s death that he didn´t work for a year. He even turned down the part of The Riddler in "Batman Forever".
So sad to hear John Hughes died! He was the greatest writer/director of the 1980's. Made the greatest movies like Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Breakfast Club, Home Alone, Ferris Bueller and many others. He will be missed!!!!
