  • @awake2012nibiru Thanks man. I'm glad it works for you. I've got another video on vimeo. A new and improved one. I still need to get that on youtube, but can't because of the songs I used... Just search for How to Draw Caricatures pt. 2 and you'll find it. It's a much better video as well. Enjoy!

  • shape of head is way off.

  • @dakwhi16 Agree. But that's only because I couldn't position the camera directly above of the drawing due to the kind of desk I was using. But I've got a new video on vimeo. You should check it out. Just search for How to Draw Caricatures pt. 2 and you'll find it. The head shape is way on this time ;) And it's a much better video.

  • so so cute what a vid!

  • awesome great video really funny!

i can see the likeness in the drawin and him

i cracked up when you spilled paint on it

  • Some good advise but what i find with drawin is that when i try to do it how sum1s told me it doesnt turn out right :/ so i think the best way is to kinda listen and learn from others but then personalise it and develop your own way :) (5*)

  • LOL thanks

  • I thought you exaggerated things that shouldn't have been exaggerated. For example, his chin was not at all big. But very funny video, nice picture. 5 stars

  • he has more of a circular face.. i love the drawing nonetheless!

  • Nice video, though i think i should go learn the basics of drawing then come back!!!

  • Nice video, although not much of a how to, more of a step by step instructional video.

  • A light grey Prismacolor marker. If you use pencil, you can smear the graphite with a paper blending tool (or stump).

  • ganda! astig haha!

  • haha

    aweosme!

    i draw caricatures too!

    i love this

  • whois john gordon (i've already googled with no result)

  • He's a classical life drawing professor at a small college in Wisconsin... yeah, he wouldn't be Google material. I made this video for a class I was in... and many of the people in the class took John Gordon for drawing. His teaching methods are pretty strict and are quite different than this. So it was kind of an inside joke. I'm surprised it has taken this long for somebody to ask that! Thanks for asking tho

  • lol... figures damnit man lol..

    - i thought he was someone like boris valejo

or something ... but with fame .. teaching

people to draw.. oh is well.. lol..:-p..

wellp thanks for the tutorial it is good.

  • man, u rock

    great caricatures.

i do caricatures, but only good with pencils, i need to move into the next step, which is drawing by marker...what do i have to do?

  • I love Ryan... He's cool... :) thx for the great video...

  • very good!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I kinda think he overdid the step-thing..

  • Nice job with both, film and drawing.

  • this is real cool, and I tried to draw him as well, but ok.. I tried caricatures awhile ago but then i quite, maybe I should start that project up again.? And, I don't understand with what you mean by, his nose and eyes are in relation to 'T'

  • What I meant was that you look at the distance between the eyes and length of the nose in relation to a T shape. If the T shape is longer one way, then you can exaggerate in that direction. You just have to understand the relationship between the eyes and nose. I think of a T being squished in one way while being pulled in another. For instance, if the eyes are close together and the nose in long, you really squeeze them in and pull that nose down however far you want.

  • You've made my 50th favorite.

Still trying to get to grasps with caricatures and finding my own style.

    Were you using permenant markers?

  • Yeah, but you can use whatever you're comfortable with. I use a 6B 3mm thickness graphic lead in a mechanical drawing pencil at the fairs. The brand name is Caran D'oché. I then do shadow with a paper smudging tool. Thanks for the comment!

  • Thanks for the reply!

  • I've been doing caricatures for 15 years & I think he did great and the Pic & likeness came out great...and like he said, "TO EACH HIS OWN"...

  • your exxageration is way off.

You should try working from the outside in to get a beeter grasp of the head neck shape and relationshio.

  • To each their own. I use this in the field on site and people love it when I can draw them in 5 minutes. I agree that with what you said, but this is about speed when drawing somebody in person. And for me, this is the fastest method.

  • wow i wish i could do that

  • awesome

  • good film it was funny and shit.

  • damn, I can't find any paper...

  • TQ TQ TQ very muchhhhhh...

  • Excellent. I like the tips that appear on the screen from time to time as well as the clarity of the steps.

  • you owe me 5 minutes.
