Guleghina as Violetta? Ok I'll go along but can we make the character die of consumption before the Brindisi? OMG, for CHRISSAKE, Jesus Christ, MADONNA whatever interjection you want to use go ahead and use it, but get this truck driver off stage.
@SsteinwayS BTW, have I recommended the "Bee Cabaletta" from Nabucco by Sylvie Valayre? If not, just type "Nabucco Bees" into your YouTube browser and this should be the first video that comes up. Enjoy!
it probably is..i was sharp in judgement. It is still too powerful sounding for violetta. Hard to believe that those lungs are ridden with tubercleosis LOL.
Indeed a real fighting big voice...not elegant in voiceusing - but this is the real LIVE Opera! It is a need to have a big voice...OK more focused & tuned into lines...Not this chicks with small voices! Dont think that Violetta is for her voice (only at the Met without MICROPHONES...) But she is mature in her interpretation with all foults & her unelegant attitudes... For me very interesting to see/listen...would love to see this live.... Did she go on singing this today ? VIVA VERDI!
It seems that she wants to be a female version o Franco Corelli, barking the notes instead of singing them... But the fact is that Corelli was at least charming and had better (much better, BTW) technique
Rosa Ponselle a Spinto? Most people agree dead or alive that she was the greatest Dramatic Soprano of the twentieth century. With her beautiful timbre and flexibility she is the standard.
She screams the high notes awfully, but I'm quite impressed with her agility and flexibility. She's in fact much better than I would expect (after all, what I expected was a sort of "legendary" fiasco). ;-)
A powerful Violeta!!!

Violetta as interpreted by Turandot.

haha is not that bad... it could be Anna Netrebko ^^ Just kidding, but I think this woman makes it more dramatic that some of the singer of today.

I think she is stupendous here, excuse me,. Amazing that she can do this.

Yes! Violetta! Why not?
podlinnost 1 year ago
@podlinnost She sounds like she's dying of hemorrhoids here rather than tuberculosis.
arpeggio1358 10 months ago
WTF... Why on earth did she agree to this role?????
jewelmarkess 1 year ago
I'm very sorry, but this is truly dreadful. And as musoph21 says below, it's hard to believe this Violetta is suffering from tuberculosis.
arpeggio1358 1 year ago
Well, she DOES manage to make us feel like we have tuberculosis, so I guess we could give her credit for that at least!
SsteinwayS 1 year ago
@SsteinwayS I never thought of it that way. She's got such lung power, that by comparison we all sound consumptive! :-)

this maybe bad in a sense but you can tell she thought she nailed Dflat at :43 with how she raises the glass. Germont better watch out
musoph21 2 years ago
that is very stupid of her, because it should be a c ;)

The note as written is a Db, so she was not sharp, she was right on the pitch.
tenore23 2 years ago
Absolutely not.
The note written and sung at 0:47 is a C. At 0:12 she sings a written D flat.

Who hired her for this? Well, she can always say she did it... (lol)

Ponselle was not a dramatic soprano, Spinto and great in her day especially in Forza.
