Yes, the SG-18 and TRS-18 share the same core engine. The fuel system on the SG-18 is pretty primitive, consisting of an electric fuel pump, a needle valve, and the fuel injector. The needle valve is set to one position for JP-4 and another position for Diesel. It's an all-or-nothing arrangement with no throttle. The exhaust on the SG-18 doesn't converge or have an inner cone like its TRS-18 counterpart, therefore it produces negligible thrust.
