thats your problem. dont say sit 15 times. only once then enforce it. it's called "first command response". My dobie girl was trained to sit in the first two weeks being home with us from the breeder. They are wicked smart, use food in the begining til she/he knows what the command means, then just enforce your commands with a follow up correction. train your dog 15 minutes 4 times a day and I garantee he/she will have it in less than two days. Same goes for ANY behavior.

There are reasons to do both. Dogs with floppy long ears have a higher risk of ear infections and then there are Boston Terriers who have tails that grow crooked, which is why they are usually docked.

We adopted a Boston from the pound...his tail is crooked because his prior owner didn't have it docked. There's a bare patch and scabbing at the point where the tail is crooked

and i have seen many dogs with docked tails with bald patch on the end, and one less means of displaying their feelings. If ears were cropped to stop infection why do they not do it to spaniels ect ect. doesnt suit the image?

Sometimes cropping is a necessary, medical thing if you don't want future issues. Dogs with really, really thin tails get them cropped to prevent breakage.
