Of course I agree! This was fantastic! I've always wanted to see it on Broadway, I'm pretty much obsessed with Nightmare Before Christmas. I would pay SO much money to see that. (If I had enough money.) I've even considerd putting on a local production, but then I'd have to deal with copyright issues and all the other complications. :(
Yes! This needs to go Broadway! I have been talking about this for years! I would love to see this Just in time for Christmas in the Big Apple and tour all across the US. It would be amazing! I mean, they've done Beauty and the Beast and Lion King, I think Nightmare should be brought to life as well! :)
I'd love to see this. Heck, I'd love to be a part of it. There is no greater joy than the stage, the energy, the life, I would love to see this classic on Broadway. If they can do the Lion and Beauty and the Beast, surely they can do The Nightmare Before Christmas.
YesYesYES! This would be AMAZING on the stage, my children and I, all thespians and Burton fans, have been longing to see this performed live. (and would love to perform in it of course!)
When we watched this on Christmas I told my boys the same thing - why the heck haven't they turned this into a musical? Heck, they've got Spiderman, Shrek, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King, etc. etc... The music to NBC is breathtaking.
Heck yes!! Build some freaking amazing puppets, get some frighteningly great singers, shoot up the stage with floresent paint and black lights and you have got yourselves a sure fire broadway hit!!!
hahaha wow I've been thinking to myself for years how much fun it would be to perform this on stage! seriously it'd be awesome! I'm glad other people think so too! :D
I actually think it has already been a stage musical.
Remember, Nightmare came out years ago (back in the mid 90's if I remember correctly, I have original VHS).
I even found lyrics that were labled as "Broadway Lyrics for 'Kidnap Mr. Sandy Claws'", or something like that, and the lyrics are somewhat different then what we see and hear in the movie.
I've always wanted to see this on broadway! I can see a coouple of problems with length and costuming but i don't think it would be too hard to work over...... I think it would be a hit!
be on broadway plz!!! i have alwyas wanted to audition it from this but they always say that the song has to be from broadway. this is my one of my favoritesof tim burton
My vote for choreography would be wade robson!!! I think some of the songs could use an update like the album that was released last year "Nightmare Revisited" Tim Burton would of course design the sets. I love this idea and i may know a broadway producer that might know what to do with the idea. No Promises but it never hurts to ask
I had my doubts about putting TNBC on stage because of the visual effects. But if they made most of the monsters (excluding Jack and Sally) into Lion King like puppets, particularly like the Timon one (I haven't seen the show yet so I can't fully judge). But since I've seen a video of how they work I've just been designing the mechanics and an Oogie Boogie body suit.
The worst thing they can do is compromise Tim Burton's vision. And they'd have to extend the script to 2 hours
@boardwalkman thats really cool! i also wrote two songs to add in the show. one was for jack in christmas town delivering presents and the other was about saying goodbye to jack. i also made a this is halloween (reprise) and a whats this reprise :)
I've been dreaming of a Nightmare Before Christmas play for years now. I think it would exceed the success of the Lion King. I for one would see a couple of times per year if not more.
I have actually designed a Jack Skellington mask for a live actor to wear should they turn TNBC into a musical. Ever since I heard this rumor I've been designing costumes for the show hoping to present them to the actual producers one day if I get the change. (I have no idea who they are). More importantly I want to know if this will really happen.
I would love to see a broadway musical of TNBC. It's my all time favorite disney movie. But i think they would have to use a lot of puppets like they did with the Lion King broadway show. Jack Skellington is so tall and thin, they'd probably have to have some sort of huge puppet/suit that the person would walk just inside of to make it move.
I think it would be a phenomenal idea, and great artist work. Hardest parts wold be some make-up and effects... Some will have to be puppets. But I will so audition to be in it.
No...they should not. It would not be good. Don't get me wrong, I think Depp is great. But not for Jack. And besides Jack needs to be at least 6'6" as thin as a rail and a tenor. None of which fit Johnny Depp. Sorry to crush your dreams.
petition anyone?

you could put all new song that was never in the movie like in the door scene have jake skeleton sing "witch door will I pick" in the new musical.

Yes, it could have him singing about the different doors and where they might lead.
