The only thing he's "truly intelligent" about is finding solutions that fit in with his beliefs. Beginning with the end in mind is a terrible research approach.
Theism truly stunts science and is a plague on mankind. Only unthinking people remain theists.
@LDS4Life71 you base your translation on greek word for gods... there're no greecisms neither in the Tanakh, nor in the book of Mormon. your literalist take on the words of the characters of BOM led you astray linguistically.
@LDS4Life71 Quetzacoatl is a slitely distorted ''Tquesacoatl'' which is none other than the Hebrew - '' Teqes Qotel'' meaning the ''Ritual of Sacrifice'' most likely human sacrifice.
except that... fairlds always starts with the end in mind... that's never good research (if you can even call it that). That's the problem with apologetics.
A moron, huh? Do you teach at Oxford? Are you a Fellow of the Royal Society? Do you have ELEVEN honorary doctorates as recognition for your outstanding work in science? Richard Dawkins DOES.
And you obviously...don't!
Religion is the true disease. Leave the thinking to the truly intelligent.
Well, you're not really looking at the complete picture. Mormon baptism rates have gone from 8 per missionary during their mission in 1990, to about 4.
Furthermore, according to the 2008 Pew U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, the replacement rate of the Mormon church has dropped to 80%. That means that for every five members who leave Mormonism behind, only four new converts join the Church.
That's negative growth (an oxymoron, but you get the idea).
SRB has no credibility? Hardly... he brings up very valid concerns. Why else does no one outside the Mormon church believe that the Book of Mormon is true?
So the writer of the BofM figured out how to incorporate Hebraisms into the Book of Mormon. Big deal. There's still tons of issues with that book of fiction.
@ScienceReasonBelief Maybe the writers had a Hebrew cultural background (Like the descendants of Lehi) and maybe the Book of Mormon is true. Joseph Smith had a 3rd grade education. It was a long time before any scholars started noticing Hebraisms in the Book of Mormon. The original manuscript had Hebraisms that Joseph Smith had changed to better fit common English. If he put them there then why would he take them out. Joseph Smith didn't put them in there to fabricate credibility.
The supposed Hebraisms are still there. And the Bk of Mormon isn't written in "common" English, whatever that means. It isn't even written in 19th century English, which was JS's time. It's written in the English of the King James Bible, which Joseph & Co. copied. That's 1611, or 17th century.
The Book of Mormon ALSO has multiple credibility issues. Google "Book of Mormon anachronisms" & you'll see what I mean. And that's just a start. The Book of Mormon is obviously false.
Perhaps you should research your claims a bit more before posting publicly. Joseph Smith did study Hebrew, but not until after The Book of Mormon had already been published for nearly a decade. He did not know Hebrew, or even proper English at the time The Book of Mormon was published.

@Lboogie501 How did Smith know about this though?

Is there a list of BoM Hebraisms on the FAIR-LDS website?
chriscb 3 years ago
There is a very, very short list, but plenty of links and sources for more on our wiki. Just type in at fairwiki dt org and do a search for hebraisms
fairldsorg 3 years ago
Smith was studying the hebrew language at this time and after. Hence the word structure of the BOM.
Nice try!
