Hi Shummy, clicked on this at random because I'd not heard it for an age and a half......heard the good production and thought.......yes......it's from Shum65.......well....how was that (NOT)a surprise? Have a really cool Christmas!
This is my favorite group of all time. I love Elizabeth Frasier! I saw the Cocteau Twins live when I was pregnant with my 2nd daughter. (she is now 17) and she moved around my belly throughout the entire show. She LOVES them and I giggle cuz I know why! :)
@vaqardi , It would be like saying, "which one of your kids are the most favorite" kinda' thing. THAT and I was 19, and in an intense EVERYTHING relationship, that was our "Soundtrack", Their music, was such a reminder, after 20+ years. our that 20 years later it burns my stomach sometimes. Then, art imitating ife, my step~sister is an actress, and the Massive Attack/cocteau song was on her soundtrack for her 1st big movie, "(Meredith Monroe) "New Best Friend". WEIRD.
Liz' forever beautiful voice as well as the amazing musicianship will surely always touch even the hardest nut. Simply amazing music! One of my all time favourite bands!
Another really good song and album some people and critics "enjoyed" bringing down... come on, Cocteau Twins were *NOT* over after "Treasure"! :-) In fact, "Heaven or Las Vegas" and "Blue Bell Knoll" are among the cd's I like the most... Hey, thanks for uploading
@shum65 I must have played this 15 times today only! I've always liked the CT but it's funny how they really touch a nerve now. your videos too mate, they're spot on everytime ;)
I´m not sure whether I could get the previous message through to you there.. anyway I didn´t have much of an exciting Easter day and no visitors...no guests to please me or my Mama "not the moth one" haha I enjoyed my day indoors with my lovely wee little doggies and the USUAL watching these lovely vids I always do and yours as well. .and the USUAL "watching them" however the NOVELTY NEVER WEARS OFF!
@shum65 You can listen "Rojo Eterno", "Amanece", "Mi corazon" "Carnaval (Sesion Futura)", "Sin alas" "Mirate en mi" "Dame Calma"... this song are of the same style... Like "Garlands"... can be "Grito Otoñal" "Caballos de Histeria" "De sudor y Ternura"... ENJOY !! :)
Might sound lame, but this is my song for my dog who passed away last year. Along with The Ghost In You by Siouxsie and the Banshees, also a beautiful song.
@EmilieSagae - Tomorrow my sis is going to have her beloved dog (Lydia) put to sleep before her suffering becomes intolerable (Lydia has lung cancer). My sister is heartbroken and it is tough on all of us. I think it is particularly heartbreaking to watch a pet suffer, because (unlike human beings) they give us such unconditional love. So no, your post doesn't sound lame at all.
@shum65 - Thank you. Lydia went to sleep at 1 pm yesterday. My sis had asked our late Nana B for help, through meditation. We waited for a sign - as only desperate, grieving people can. After Lyd had gone, we went outside to get some air: Next door's radio was playing an 'older person's' station. DJ introduces the song: "Kind of an odd request here (from some listener) 'Durham Town' by Roger Whittaker - not often heard on the radio..." My Nana's favourite song. Took that as the sign!
brings back strong memories. i used to make my paintings with this music. it expressed emotions that were unspeakable. but still i had to put them in an image too... cocteau twins' music loosened it, i painted it. what an intensive time that was!
@wouterotten1 Hi There, I,m so pleased this has brought back such strong memories, good music sure re-opens our most deep and personal thoughts and feelings..
Thats such an amazing thing, that you were helped by hearing this awesome song..
I'm sure the band and especially Liz would be so moved by your comments my friend...
I might have acommented on this, don't remember, I'm sitting here with a vodka bottle that someone has snuck in and drunk when I wasn't looking!! Anyway, this is a beautiful song by one of the best bands ever. thanks for uploading it. Merry Christmas
Yeah, you´re right - they´re amazing!! I had the opportunity to meet with Robin Guthrie as well only a few years ago, when playing solo at a small club in LA.
They were supposed to have played at Coachella, but, that re-union for that single rock-festival never took place. Robin felt he had to do something for his loyal fans, so he played by himself some solo-stuff. This was only like 4 years ago and the show was really good despite the circumstances... ;-)Merry X-mas and Happy New!
Hi Shum65, glad you liked it... ;-) Yeah, that was a most memorable event and it took place in the summer of 96' I remember. They were soo patient when I, as a member of the Swedish fan club wanting to have pictures with all of them and signing CT postcards to my friends back home, they all received greetings from me & Liz.....how cool was that?!?...lol
They were quite suprised back home as they all know that this band has meant more to me than any band ever - before or after! Merry X-mas!
This is as good as it gets.....one of the ABSOLUTE best songs of the 80´s!!! Will never forget when I saw Cocteau Twins @ The Mayan Theatre in down town, Los Angeles and met the whole band after the gig.....wow!!! Liz was great, as well as Robin and Simon....my most memorable concert memory so far CT still rules!!!
sound track to any gothic novel or dare i say it vampire movie...i can see it now...running through delapidated forests..................beautifull.)x
Those of you who do drum circle, think of Cocteau Twins as you consider adding some improvised vocals to the rhythms while you watch people dance around the fire.
Thanks so much for your most personal response back to me! ... That is very kind of you.
I've now looked at DOZENS of your wonderful Twins' video postings ... And, I must say that I do believe YOU are in-fact the ultimate and quintessential "CT" "UBER FAN" of all-time!!! ;-)
And you have a lovely weekend, too, Mate! ... Some of us Americans are not so utterly daft when it comes to Good - No, GREAT! - music from "across the pond"! ... The Twins are so EXTRAORDINARY! I only wish I could have seen them, just once, perform LIVE in concert. I'm sure that you have ... being that YOU are easily THE BIGGEST FAN they've got! ... What is Liz doing now? Did she ever finish her solo album?!?
Hi mate, I think you Americans have really awesome musical taste my friend....!! I,ve noticed a big US following for the CT, I,ve only ever seen them live on TV, the first time was way back in 83, a sound that I never forgot..!!!! pure heaven...... Liz as yet hasn't finished her solo album, but she released a single a few months ago called "Moses" dedicated to the loss of a close friend, I,ve been in touch with both Will Heggie, and Simon Raymonde, both are really amazing guys. Dave.
WOW, Dave! - You've actually been in personal contact w/ both Will & Simon?!?! - How cool is THAT!!
I know that Liz released "Moses" - but I can't figure out how to order a copy of the song here in The US ... Was the man she dedicated the song to from "The Birthday Party"?
I just FLOAT when I listen to CT ... It is sublime - always!!!
Please look me up on FB - keyword in "Dulce Farmer" ... I have a LOT of super tunes featured on my website that I think you will enjoy!
Hi my friend, I,m not sure but I think the guy Liz dedicated the song to was in the group Massive Attack, but I could be wrong about that... Yeah both Will and Simon are really cool, I,ve been intouch more with Will lately, hes been enjoying my videos from the earlier days of the band, when he was with them, Especially the "Garlands" days, his bass playing was iconic and essential to their awesome sound back then... Hes a really down to earth guy... I,ll certainly look ya up mate.!!!
I just checked Liz's website, and learned that her Friend (to whom she dedicated this song) was Jake Drake-Brockman -- who was "A pivotal member of Echo and The Bunnymen, BOM and The Hook Em Boys."
How is it possible that no matter how many times I listen the music is new and fresh, transporting me? After 20 years of listening...no matter how old I get...it's inspiring.
@patkesler1 I think what it comes down to... and I've thought about a lot of music and there are cedrtain bands that always do it, certain songs that always touch the same place in me (like this one) that never get old... what I think it comes down to is that they Meant It. There are other people writing music that don't. These guys do.
really thanks for uploading so many amazing songs! every songs of Cocteau Twins can always bring me great memories and fantasies..it's a pity that they have broken up and we are not able to listen more wondeful songs from them=(
As strange as this album seems to some, its one of my absolute favorites!

Those of you who do drum circle, think of Cocteau Twins as you consider adding some improvised vocals to the rhythms while you watch people dance around the fire.

Best from The USA!,

I just checked Liz's website, and learned that her Friend (to whom she dedicated this song) was Jake Drake-Brockman -- who was "A pivotal member of Echo and The Bunnymen, BOM and The Hook Em Boys."
Dulce22261 2 years ago
Cheers Dulce, I didn't know he was a part
of Echo and the Bunnymen.I haven't heard
of the other two bands though...
Hey many thanx for taking time to look that
up my friend...much appreciated.....!!!!
shum65 2 years ago
i think you were referring to "the hookham boys" here, which was a project consisting of liz, damon and their late friend, jake drake brockman.
their first gig was meant to take place in a modest way but it was sadly cancelled.
adamaglaia 1 year ago
Hi their...many thanx for more info ....!!!
Did they ever release any songs.??
I,ve never heard anything by them, so sad
about Jake, that was a lovely tribute to him
by Liz "Moses"
Thanks adamaglaia.....!!!
shum65 1 year ago
@shum65 unfortunately no material has been released yet. it seems quite unlikely now after jake drake brockman's death
adamaglaia 1 year ago
Hi their, thats such a pity, I did look up the band, but theirs little about them...
Many thanks for your help my friend....
Much appreciate it adamaglaia....!!!

How is it possible that no matter how many times I listen the music is new and fresh, transporting me? After 20 years of listening...no matter how old I get...it's inspiring.
patkesler1 2 years ago 21
Hi patkesler...your so right, no matter how
many decades pass bye, these classics
are as fresh and inspiring as the day that
they were released..I too just love this truly
moving and atmospheric track.....
Thanks my friend....!!!

@patkesler1
I too my friend loved Cocteau Twins as a kid in the 80's and yes what your
experiencing is possible because their great art hasn't aged. It was seminal
then and still is. You and I my friend are what has aged. Yet I thank God that
our tastes and sensibilities haven't altered that much.
By the way isn't Shums take on the music inspired ?
blainebill39 1 year ago
@patkesler1
I too my friend loved Cocteau Twins as a kid in the 80's and am still
deeply moved in a transcendent way.I'm sure this is because unlike
you and I, great art ages little. This music was and still is seminal. I just
thank God that our tastes and sensibilities haven't altered so much.
By the way don't Shums' videos do the music great justice?
blainebill39 1 year ago
@blainebill39 Cheers my friend, I too have always been moved by their music,
its so good to meet others who are equally moved too...
Thats a good point about as we have got older, thank god our taste in such music
hasnt altered, its just grown deeper for the Cocteaus heavenly sounds.
Lovely compliments about my videos, much appreciated indeed....!!!!!!
shum65 1 year ago
@patkesler1 I think what it comes down to... and I've thought about a lot of music and there are cedrtain bands that always do it, certain songs that always touch the same place in me (like this one) that never get old... what I think it comes down to is that they Meant It. There are other people writing music that don't. These guys do.

great memories connected to every song.
